  • The localization of multi-agents, such as people, animals, or robots, is a requirement to accomplish several tasks. Especially in the case of multi-robotic applications, localization is the process for determining the positions of robots and targets in an unknown environment. Many sensors like GPS, lasers, and cameras are utilized in the localization process. However, these sensors produce a large amount of computational resources to process complex algorithms, because the process requires environmental mapping. Currently, combination multi-robots or swarm robots and sensor networks, as mobile sensor nodes have been widely available in indoor and outdoor environments. They allow for a type of efficient global localization that demands a relatively low amount of computational resources and for the independence of specific environmental features. However, the inherent instability in the wireless signal does not allow for it to be directly used for very accurate position estimations and making difficulty associated with conducting the localization processes of swarm robotics system. Furthermore, these swarm systems are usually highly decentralized, which makes it hard to synthesize and access global maps, it can be decrease its flexibility. In this paper, a simple pyramid RAM-based Neural Network architecture is proposed to improve the localization process of mobile sensor nodes in indoor environments. Our approach uses the capabilities of learning and generalization to reduce the effect of incorrect information and increases the accuracy of the agent's position. The results show that by using simple pyramid RAM-base Neural Network approach, produces low computational resources, a fast response for processing every changing in environmental situation and mobile sensor nodes have the ability to finish several tasks especially in localization processes in real time.

  • This study was conducted to remove $NO_x$, which is the main cause of fine dust and air pollution as well as acid rain. $NO_x$ was tested using 3% NO (diluted in He) as a simulated gas. Experiments were sequentially carried out by oxidizing NO to $NO_2$ and absorbing $NO_2$. Especially, we focused on the changes of NO oxidation according to both oxidant ($NaClO_2$) concentration change (1~10 M) and oxidant pH change (pH = 1~5) by adding HCl. In addition, we tried to suggest a method to improve $NO_2$ absorption by conducting $NO_2$ reduction reaction with reducing agent (NaOH) concentration (40~60%). It was found that NO removal efficiency increased as both concentration of oxidant and flow rate of NO gas increased, and NO decreased more effectively as the pH of hydrochloric acid added to the oxidant was lower. The $NO_2$ adsorption was also better with increasing NaOH concentration, but the NO removal efficiency was ~20% lower than that of the selective NO reduction. Indeed, this experimental method is expected to be a new method that can be applied to the capture and removal of fine dust caused by air pollution because it is a method that can easily remove NO gas by a simple device without expensive giant equipment.

  • Background: The use of aroma oils dates back to at least 3000 B.C., where it was applied to mummify corpses and treat the wounds of soldiers. Since the 1920s, the term "aromatherapy" has been used for fragrance therapy with essential oils. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the essential oil of Eucalyptus (EOE) affects pain pathways in various pain conditions and motor coordination. Methods: Mice were subjected to inhalation or intraperitoneal injection of EOE, and its analgesic effects were assessed by conducting formalin, thermal plantar, and acetic acid tests; the effects of EOE on motor coordination were evaluated using a rotarod test. To determine the analgesic mechanism, 5'-guanidinonaltrindole (${\kappa}$-opioid antagonist, 0.3 mg/kg), naltrindole (${\delta}$-opioid antagonist, 5 mg/kg), glibenclamide (${\delta}$-opioid antagonist, 2 mg/kg), and naloxone (${\mu}$-opioid antagonist, 4, 8, 12 mg/kg) were injected intraperitoneally. Results: EOE showed an analgesic effect against visceral pain caused by acetic acid (EOE, 45 mg/kg); however, no analgesic effect was observed against thermal nociceptive pain. Moreover, it was demonstrated that EOE did not have an effect on motor coordination. In addition, an anti-inflammatory effect was observed during the formalin test. Conclusions: EOE, which is associated with the ${\mu}$-opioid pain pathway, showed potential effects against somatic, inflammatory, and visceral pain and could be a potential therapeutic agent for pain.

  • Scene graph is a kind of knowledge graph that represents both objects and their relationships found in a image. This paper proposes a 3D scene graph generation model for three-dimensional indoor environments. An 3D scene graph includes not only object types, their positions and attributes, but also three-dimensional spatial relationships between them, An 3D scene graph can be viewed as a prior knowledge base describing the given environment within that the agent will be deployed later. Therefore, 3D scene graphs can be used in many useful applications, such as visual question answering (VQA) and service robots. This proposed 3D scene graph generation model consists of four sub-networks: object detection network (ObjNet), attribute prediction network (AttNet), transfer network (TransNet), relationship prediction network (RelNet). Conducting several experiments with 3D simulated indoor environments provided by AI2-THOR, we confirmed that the proposed model shows high performance.

  • Two types of lignin materials with a different surface ionic character were used and polypyrrole layer was introduced on the lignin surface to obtain polypyrrole@lignin and polypyrrole@lignosulfonate composites using a simple chemical oxidation polymerization, reported in a previous article. Polypyrrole was effectively prepared regardless of the lignin type and the resulting composites were investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and impedance analysis. SEM and CV results showed that the obtained composites retained stable electrochemical properties after introduction of polypyrrole on the lignin surface. Impedance analyses showed that the surface properties of composites were dependent on lignin characteristics. In addition, the composites were embedded in agarose, an gelifying agent, to obtain conductive gels. It was found that the conductive gels possessed an electrical conductivity and also retained stable electrochemical properties, which indicated that the conductive gels might be useful for some applications.

  • Efforts by the Ministry of Environment and local governments in Korea are continuing to manage the aging of water supply and sewage buried underground. With the support of the Korea Institute of Environmental Industry and Technology's water and sewage innovation technology development project, it is conducting a project to predict and exchange accidents due to aging, and to apply smart functions to new buried pipes. As one of these studies, this paper proposes the design of a dashboard concept model for digital twin-based smart pipe health monitoring, one of the key features of the entire study. Since remote control and monitoring are one of the main functions, distributed transmission and reception agents are deployed to visualize monitoring situations in real time and to increase user affinity by deploying intuitive UI. To validate the design of this proposed special digital twin based smart pipe state monitoring, we construct the conceptual model level and measure the agent effectiveness to validate its excellence.

  • Experimental study was conducted to identify the active agent for reductive dechlorination of TCE in cement/Fe(II) systems. Several potential materials-hematite (${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$), lepidocrocite (${\gamma}$-FeOOH), akaganeite (${\beta}$-FeOOH), ettringite ($Ca_6Al_2(SO_4)_3(OH)_{12}$)-that are cement components or parts of cement hydrates were tested if they could act as reducing agents by conducting TCE degradation experiments. From the initial degradation experiments, hematite was selected as a potential active agent. The pseudo-first-order degradation rate constant ($k\;=\;0.637\;day^{-1}$) for the system containing 200 mM Fe(II), hematite and CaO was close to that ($k\;=\;0.645\;day^{-1}$) obtained from the system containing cement and 200 mM Fe(II). CaO, which was originally added to simulate pH of the cement/Fe(II) system, was found to play an important role in degradation reactions. The reactivity of the hematite/CaO/Fe(II) system initially increased with increase of CaO dosage. However, the tendency declined in the higher CaO dosage region, implying a saturation type of behavior. The SEM analysis revealed that the hexagonal plane-shaped crystals were formed during the reaction with increasing degradation efficiency, which was brought about by increasing the CaO dosage. It was suspected that the crystals could be portlandite or green rust ($SO_4$) or Friedel's salt. The XRD analysis of the same sample identified the peaks of hematite, magnetite/maghemite, green rust ($SO_4$). Either instrumental analysis predicted the presence of the green rust ($SO_4$). Therefore, the green rust ($SO_4$) would potentially be a reactive agent for reductive dechlorination in cement/Fe(II) systems.

  • Porous polymer gel electrolytes (PGEs) based on poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (P(VdF-co-HFP)) as a polymer matrix and polyvinylpyrolidone (PVP) as a pore-forming agent were prepared and electrochemical properties were investigated for an electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) in order to increase a permeability of an electrolyte into the PGE. Propylene carbonate (PC) and ethylene carbonate (EC) as plasticizers, and tetraethylammonium tetrafluoroborate ($TEABF_4$) as a supporting salt for the PGE were used. EDLC unit cells were assembled with the PGE and electrode comprising BP-20 and MSP-20 as activated carbon powders, Super P as a conducting agent, and P(VdF-co-HFP)/PVP as a mixed binder. Ion conductivity of PGEs increased with an increased PVP content and was the best at 7 wt% PVP, whereas electrochemical characteristics such as AC-ESR of unit cell were better in 3 wt%. And electrochemical characteristics of the unit cell with PGE were the best at a 33 : 33 weight ratio of PC to EC. Specific capacitance of a mixed plasticizer system of PE and EC was higher than that of pure PC. Ion conductivity of PGEs with a film thickness of $20{\mu}m$ was higher, but electrochemical characteristics of unit cells were higher for a $50{\mu}m$ membrane thickness. Also, the unit cell has shown the highest capacitance of 31.41 F/g and more stable electrochemical performance when PGE and electrode were hot pressed. Consequently, the optimum composition ratio of PGE for EDLCs was 23 : 66 : 11 wt% such as P(VdF-co-HFP) : PVP = 20 : 3 wt% and PC : EC = 44 : 22 wt%. In this case, $3.17{\times}10^{-3}S/cm$ of ion conductivity was achieved at the $50{\mu}m$ thickness of PGE for EDLCs. And the electrochemical characteristics of unit cells were $2.69{\Omega}$ of DC-ESR, 28 F/g of specific capacitance, and 100% of coulombic efficiency.

  • Highly conducting Polypyrroles soluble in organic solvents were synthesized using functional doping agents, such as mixed dopants [sodium di(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (DEHSNa) Naphthalenesulfonic acid (NSA), DEHSNa Toluenesulfonic acid (TSA), DEHSNa Dodecylbenzensulfonic acid (DBSA)] and mixed oxidants [$(NH_4)_2S_2O_8{\cdot}FeCl_3$, $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8{\cdot}Fe_2(SO_4)_3$]. Ppy-DEHS powder using an oxidant, such as $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8$ (10 wt%/vol.) showed higher solubility than the mixed dopant (DEHSNa NSA, 3 wt%/vol.) and mixed oxidant [$(NH_4)_2S_2O_8{\cdot}Fe_2(SO_4)_3$, 4 wt%/vol.] in DMF solvent. But Ppy-DEHS free standing film using a mixed dopant, such as DEHSNa NSA (16 S/cm) and a mixed oxidant, such as $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8{\cdot}Fe_2(SO_4)_3$ (13 S/cm) cast from DMF solvent showed higher electrical conductivity than $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8$ (2 S/cm). For the Ppy-DEHS films using various condition cast from DMF solvent, three dimensional various range hopping model (3D VRH ; $\{{\sigma}_{dc}(T)={\sigma}_oexp[-(T_o/T)^{1/4}]\}$) provided fit to the results of temperature dependence of electrical conductivity measurement.

  • Purpose: The Trastuzumab for gastric cancer (GC) trial identified human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) as a predictor of successful treatment with trastuzumab (HER2 receptor targeting agent) among patients with advanced/metastatic GC. To date, the prevalence of HER2 overexpression in the Korean population is unknown. The present study aimed to assess the incidence of HER2 positivity among GC and gastroesophageal (GE) junction cancer samples and the relationship between HER2 overexpression and clinicopathological characteristics in Korean patients. Materials and Methods: Tumor samples collected from 1,695 patients with histologically proven GC or GE junction enrolled at 14 different hospitals in Korea were examined. After gathering clinicopathological data of all patients, HER2 status was assessed by immunohistochemistry (IHC) at each hospital, and IHC 2+ cases were subjected to silver-enhanced in situ hybridization at 3 central laboratories. Results: A total of 182 specimens tested positive for HER2, whereas 1,505 tested negative. Therefore, the overall HER2-positive rate in this study was 10.8% (95% confidence interval=9.3%-12.3%). The HER2-positive rate was higher among intestinal-type cases (17.6%) than among other types, and was higher among patients older than 70 years and 50 years of age, compared to other age groups. Conclusions: Our evaluation of the HER2 positivity rate (10.8%) among Korean patients with GC and GE junction indicated the necessity of epidemiological data when conducting studies related to HER2 expression in GC and GE junction.
