In the case of railway facilities in cities such as a railway station or a bridge, the significance of design for reducing vibration and noise is getting more significant. The vibration control solution is in need especially for an elevated railway station to block vibration of a train and secondary noise effectively. Even though a vertical vibration isolation device is able to be applied effectively to railway facilities such as elevated railway stations which transfer vibration directly from a train to a structure, the development of the vertical device is much slower than a horizontal vibration isolation device. In this paper, a vibration isolation device using wedge type friction material which is currently developing to reduce train-induced vibration effectively is introduced and test results for verification of dynamic performance is also presented. The vibration test on a concrete structure equipped with the developed vibration isolation device is conducted through which the isolation performance and dynamic properties are verified and needs for improving the performance of the device is identified.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the differences between Korean mathematics textbooks and CPMP textbooks in the view of conceptual network, structure of mathematical contents, instructional design, and teaching and learning environment to explore the implications for mathematics education in Korea. According to the results, Korean textbooks emphasized the mathematical structures and conceptual network, on the other hand, CPMP textbooks focused on making connections between mathematical concepts and corresponding real life situations as well as mathematical structures. And generalizing mathematical concepts at the symbolic level was very important objective in Korean textbooks, but in the CPMP textbooks, investigating mathematical ideas and solving problems in diverse contexts including real- life situations were considered very important. Teachers using Korean textbooks preferred an explanatory teaching method with the use of concrete manipulatives and student worksheet, however, teachers using CPMP textbooks emphasized collaborative group activities to communicate mathematical ideas and encouraged students to use graphing calculators when they explore mathematical concepts and solve problems.

In this study, connection of steel reinforced concrete(SRC) column and composite beam which consists of H-section and U-section members were tested under cyclic loading. An essential point of the composite beam is the structural performance of welded joint between the H-section and the U-section members. To improve the structural performance of joint of two beam members, vertical stiffeners, trapezoidal stiffeners, and top bars were used. Five full-scaled specimens were designed to study the effect of a number of parameters on cyclic performance of connections such as H-section beam size($H-500{\times}200{\times}10{\times}16$, $H-600{\times}200{\times}11{\times}17$), the presence of stiffeners and top bars, and the presence of no weld access hole(WAH) method. Based on the test results, deformation capacity of the specimens with H-500 series beam and H-600 series beam were 4% and 3% rotation angle, which is the requirement for the Special Moment Frame and Intermediate Moment Frame(IMF), respectively. Test result showed that deformation capacity of connection with stiffeners and top bars is greater than that of connection without stiffeners and top bars. Finally, energy dissipation capacity and strain profile of specimens were summarized.

This study proposed more reasonable prediction models on compressive strength and carbonation of concrete structure and developed a more effective tunnel safety diagnosis and maintenance method through field application of the proposed prediction models. For this study, the Seoul Metro's Line 1 through Line 4 were selected as target structures because they were built more than 30 years ago and have accumulated numerous diagnosis and maintenance data for about 15 years. As a result of the analysis of compressive strength and carbonation, we were able to draw prediction models with accuracy of more than 80% and confirmed the prediction model's reliability by comparing it with the existing models. We've also confirmed field suitability of the prediction models by applying field, the average error of an estimate on compressive strength and carbonation depth was about 20%, which showed an accuracy of more than 80%. We developed a more effective maintenance method using durability prediction Map before field inspection. With the durability prediction Map, diagnostic engineers and structure managers can easily detect the vulnerable points, which might have failed to reach the standard of designed strength or have a high probability of corrosion due to carbonation, therefore, it is expected to make it possible for them to diagnose and maintain tunnels more effectively and efficiently.

In this study, a survey was conducted on the required measurement and waterproofing performance for residential building underground structure leakage prevention system. According to the results of the survey, it has been determined that leakage problem is considered to be quite severe, and many respondents have agreed. The legal guidelines and regulation systems do not reflect properly on the environmental requirements or conditions, resulting in continued leakage problem. In regards to this, a standardized waterproofing technique that can be used in underground areas of residential structures is required as an obligation and the development of high performance waterproofing method that allows for wet concrete surface adhesion and a guideline, design and maintenance method that allows the control of overall situational control of leakage is required.
In the Northeast Asian region fisheries agreements of the past regarding high seas as an agreement area were transformed or new agreements were introduced in order to conform to the EEZ regime. However, the existing joint regulatory zone which “open” status is somewhat similar to the high sea not only disappear, but also two new systems were established. To begin with, parties of the agreement claimed their EEZs to be from the territorial sea baselines to the extent set forth, problem of the fishery access of the other party under the agreement is to be solved on the principle of reciprocity and on recognizing of the catch results achieved in the past. In regards to the overlapping zones like neutral zone of the East Sea of Korea(Sea of Japan) and neutral zone to the south of the Cheju Island, provisional measures zones in the Yellow Sea and in the East China Sea, and transitional zone of the Yellow Sea special fisheries management systems reflecting the legal character of the zone involved are applied. Moreover, as fisheries agreements defining open sea as an agreement zone are not able to conform to the EEZ regime, so new fisheries agreements must be taken out from old systems and conceptions, and must be understood and enforced from the new point view. Therefore, countermeasures needed to do so should be developed, and their basic structure is as follows. Firstly, the basic concept of the EEZ regime requires that the coastal states have sovereign rights on their sea zones' natural resources and bear responsibilities appropriate to their allowed jurisdiction. Each Northeast Asian state should adjust the structure of fishing industries and employ advanced fisheries management system, and should make efforts toward such issues of the state policy as increasing fishery resources and preserving ocean environment. Secondly, measures should be developed to solve the international fisheries disputes which are to occur under enforcement of the new fisheries agreements system. In regards to the acts of violation the fisheries laws in the foreign EEZ the principle of jail sentence prohibition is established by the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and every fisheries agreement reflects this principle. Therefore, the present question is to consider concrete measures to enable the easy release of the seamen, who violated fisheries laws slightly and well-intently, through establishment and management of the guarantee fund needed to make collateral reasonable. Thirdly, Korean-Russian and Russian-Japanese fisheries relations were formed on the basis of the EEZ regime, since 1992 and 1977 respectively, and are expected to maintain mutually beneficial cooperative character. As for Korean-Chinese-Japanese fisheries relations, the operational problems of overlapping zones, and problem of the permits for EEZ mutual access should be solved on the basis of the principle of reciprocity and equity rather than unilaterally from any side.

The Incheon Bridge, which was opened to the traffic in October 2009, is an 18.4 km long sea-crossing bridge connecting the Incheon International Airport with the expressway networks around the Seoul metropolitan area by way of Songdo District of Incheon City. This bridge is an integration of several special featured bridges and the major part of the bridge consists of cable-stayed spans. This marine cable-stayed bridge has a main span of 800 m wide to cross the vessel navigation channel in and out of the Incheon Port. In waterways where ship collision is anticipated, bridges shall be designed to resist ship impact forces, and/or, adequately protected by ship impact protection (SIP) systems. For the Incheon Bridge, large diameter circular dolphins as SIP were made at 44 locations of the both side of the main span around the piers of the cable-stayed bridge span. This world's largest dolphin-type SIP system protects the bridge against the collision with 100,000 DWT tanker navigating the channel with speed of 10 knots. Diameter of the dolphin is up to 25 m. Vessel collision risk was assessed by probability based analysis with AASHTO Method-II. The annual frequency of bridge collapse through the risk analysis for 71,370 cases of the impact scenario was less than $0.5{\times}10^{-4}$ and satisfies design requirements. The dolphin is the circular sheet pile structure filled with crushed rock and closed at the top with a robust concrete cap. The structural design was performed with numerical analyses of which constitutional model was verified by the physical model experiment using the geo-centrifugal testing equipment. 3D non-linear finite element models were used to analyze the structural response and energy-dissipating capability of dolphins which were deeply embedded in the seabed. The dolphin structure secures external stability and internal stability for ordinary loads such as wave and current pressure. Considering failure mechanism, stability assessment was performed for the strength limit state and service limit state of the dolphins. The friction angle of the crushed stone as a filling material was reduced to $38^{\circ}$ considering the possibility of contracting behavior as the impact.

This study investigated the effect of social support (MOS-SSS), and physical (ADL, IADL) and mental (CES-D, MMSE-K) function on the quality of life (WHOQOL- BREF) among the elderly at care facilities. The survey respondents were 524 elderly aged 65 and older living in 15 care facilities located in D city. Data were collected through a personal interview conducted by interviewers who visited each care facility from November 2015 to January 2016. As a result, the quality of life was significantly lower in the elderly group with lower social support, with dysfunction in ADL and IADL than in the normal range group, with depression and cognitive impairment group than in the normal range group. The quality of life had a significant positive correlation with social support, ADL, IADL and cognitive impairment, but a significant negative correlation with depression. According to the results of covariance structure analysis, physical function had a greater impact on the quality of life than mental function or social support. Lower quality of life was associated with lower physical and mental function and lower social support. Therefore, concrete measures need to be devised to enhance physical function in order to improve the quality of life among the elderly in care facilities.

Together with the trend of enhancement in domestic industrial development and economic progress due to import and export, the demand for construction of the roads, bridges, especially port facilities, and several coastal protection and ocean structures is increasing rapidly. MOMAF of Korean Government is driving construction of 9 new ports and renovation of the existing fishery ports. Among these structures most of bridge base, wharves, dolphins, quays, and jetties are being newly built of steel or concrete pile. As the base, supporting bulkheads, and piles are underwater after construction, it is difficult to figure out the status of structures and not enough to get maintenance and strengthen the structures. Every year, moreover, these works suck the government budget due to higher incomplete maintenance expense for protection from corrosions of structures and increased underwater construction period. For the purpose of cutting down the expense of government budget, it is necessary to extend the life cycle of the existing structures. Therefore, we developed a new method for maintenance of submerged structures near the waterline by allowing dry work environment with the floating caisson. The method shows easy to move around the working area and handle. It also showed not only a significant reduction maintenance expenses and time for anti-corrosion work but also better protection. This will be a milestone to reduce the maintenance and construction expenses for the shore and water structures.

The promotion of social economy is one of the Korean government's top 100 initiatives. As of August 2019, there are 2,249 certified social enterprises in Korea, showing explosive growth with a 41-fold increase from 2007 when the Social Enterprise Promotion Act was first enacted. Currently, the discussion of the sustainability of social-economic organizations is lively, including the issue of changing the certification system to the registration system. Noting the unusual management structure of social enterprise - seeking both social and economic value, this study identifies factors affecting the performance of social enterprises. The study focuses on an empirical investigation of the relationships between characteristics of entrepreneurs' experiences in social economy, strategic competency, the extent to which they seek social value, and their performance. This study is unique in social enterprise research due to its approach to the hybrid management structure of social enterprise with a focus on entrepreneurs' characteristics. Accordingly, this empirical investigation focuses on how social-value seeking mediates the relationships between strategic competency emphasized in typical for-profit enterprises, the characteristics of experiences stressed in social-economic organizations, and the performance of social enterprises. The study findings suggest that, firstly, social entrepreneurs must seek social value as a top priority and improve economic performance using strategic competency to keep pursuing social value, and secondly, social-value seeking must be founded upon entrepreneurs' understanding and experiences in social economy. Practical implications of the study findings include concrete directions for training in social enterprises offered by relevant agencies and the establishment of competency models for current and future entrepreneurs.
