Development of the Life Management D/B System for Concrete Structures in Nuclear Power Plants (원전 콘크리트 구조물의 수명관리 D/B 시스템 개발)

  • This study was performed to develop effective management system of concrete structures in Nuclear Power Plants. This D/B system includes three kinds of data : 1)visual inspection data(cracking, spalling, etc.) 2) durability data carbonation, chloride attack, etc. 3) in-service inspection data(prestressing force. material properties, etc. ) By using the life management D/B System, the field engineers can easily acquire the information about the various inspection data. repair and accidental histories of structures. This system, will contribute to the efficient life management of concrete structures.

Repair method application for micro-cracks of less than 0.3 mm width in residential apartment buildings (공동주택에 발생되는 0.3mm미만 미세균열의 보수공법 적용을 위한 근거 마련 기초연구)

  • Cracks are typical defects that occur in concrete structures. When cracks occur in the structure, durability reduction, concrete neutralization, and steel corrosion cause functional safety problems. In order to prevent such cracks, surface repair method is performed for cracks smaller than 0.3 mm and rechargeable method is performed for cracks larger than 0.3 mm. However, even if it is applied by the surface repair method at less than 0.3 mm, re-leakage cracks continue to occur. Recently, the Supreme Court ruled that the rechargeable method should be applied to cracks less than 0.3mm in order to reduce the occurrence of defects. However, it was considered that the repair fees were too high relative to the observed defect rate, resulting in a necessitation of modifying the existing construction analysis administration standards. This study analyzes the differences in the subjective views on the durability degradation with regards to surface repair methods in concrete structures.

  • The maintenance techniques of reinforced concrete structures, which include diagnosis, repair and rehabilit¬ation, are not systematically establishtxL This study develops an expert system for maintenance of reinforced concrete structures based on the related documents and knowledge and experience of experts who work in these field. The analytical results using the developed expert system were compared to the real repair cases in field and they were generally satisfactory.

  • The basic prediction model was constructed to obtain optimal maintenance method for concrete structure under marine environment by exploring the mechanism of mono and combined deterioration in lab. This model was planned to be upgraded with data acquired from several exposure specimens under same environment as structures. The computer program developed to give useful guidance observer would be improved. Several repair materials and repair construction methods applied to exposure specimens will be tested for its performance of prohibit salt attack and freezing & thawing action during experimental period about ten years. All of these data could be available to complete the prediction system. The manager will be able to use the system for optimal maintenance of marine concrete structures.

Revision of Repair Materials Performance Requirement for Concrete Structures (콘크리트 구조물 단면복구공사 보수재료 품질기준개선)

  • For highway concrete structures, the deterioration of the structure is accelerated due to the increase in the use of deicing materials, and sectional repair work is being frequently carried out to restore performance. However, after the repair work, re-damage such as cracks, delamination, and poor bond performance is exhibited in the repaired sectional area. In this study, overseas repair material requirements were first analyzed, and present domestic requirements were improved repair material performance through field surveys of common concrete structures, laboratory experiments, and test construction on a disused concrete bridge. In addition, performancebased quality requirements were presented so that all materials that meet the required performance can be applied, and different test methods for each material were unified into concrete test methods for consistent test results analysis. The considered performance requirements were compression strength, bending strength, and bond strength for structural properties, and length change rate, crack resistance, thermal expansion coefficient, and elasticity coefficient were for dimensional behavior. For resistance to chloride penetration resistance and freeze-thaw resistance were presented as durability. The proposed requirements for concrete repair materials are expected to contribute to the improvement of the quality of concrete sectional repair work in Korea.

A Study on the Performance of Mechanical Pressurizing Equipment(MPE) for Improving Bond Strength of Repair Materials for Concrete Box Structures (콘크리트 박스 구조물용 보수재의 부착강도 향상을 위한 기계식 가압장비(MPE) 성능에 관한 연구)

  • The rehabilitation methods used in existing concrete box structures rely on the method of attaching the repair material to the section of the structure with a spray equipment. In the case of ceiling or wall parts, the adhesion force to the repair material may be reduced by the gravity and dead load after construction. In subway structures, vibration causes a problem that reduces the initial adhesion. Supplementary measures are needed as the quality of repair varies depending on the worker's proficiency and construction environment. In this study, mechanical pressurization equipment was developed that can apply a certain pressure after construction of a repairwork to solve problems such as reduction of adhesion of repair materials by gravity and variation of repair quality by labor work. To find out the effect of the pressurized equipment, a chamber similar to the field conditions was constructed to measure the attachment strength different from the pressurized condition, the section, and the environmental conditions. The pressurization differed from the other parts, but the adhesion strength of up to 70% was increased.

  • The purpose of this study is to accurately understand the flexural behavior in RC beam with strrup on repair thickness of DFRCC. Using a four-point bending test, the shear strengths and shear stress-deflection relations of DFRCC repair RC specimens are obtained. The results show that DFRCC can be effectively used for repairing materials for concrete structures.

An Experimental Study on the Flexural Behavior of One-Way Concrete Slabs Using the Restorative Mortar and Crimped Wire Mesh (크림프 철망 및 단면복구 보수 모르타르를 사용한 일방향 슬래브의 휨 거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The repair of concrete surfaces does not normally take into account structural tolerance for longer service lift and better capabilities of concrete structures. In particular, the repair of surface spelling completes as mortar is applied, which does not display additional structural performances. The use of crimped wire mesh for better construction and fracture resistance, however, expects to have some reinforcement effects. Particularly, it is also expected that the repair of bottom part in structures built between bridges like irrigation structures results in the increase of flexural resistance. Therefore, this study is intended to perform the repair using crimp wire mesh and examine strength depending on the repair section and depth. For this, a slab with 150 mm in depth, 3,000 mm in length and 600 mm in width and total 8 objects to experiment such as upper part, upper whole, bottom part, bottom whole and crimp wire mesh reinforced are manufactured to perform flexural performance. The results of the analysis show that yield strength and failure load increase as the depth of repair materials in the experiment reinforced with crimp wire mesh get bigger. In the same condition, repair of bottom part is able to increase internal force of bending force. Besides, the results show that partial repair of structures under bending force cannot produce flexural performance. Consequently, the repair method with crimp wire mesh results in the increase of flexural resistance.
