  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to revise the weight to power ratio of the representative truck in S. Korea. So far, S. Korea has been using the unit lb/hp, and the construction machines were not considered in the evaluation of the performance of trucks. METHODS : This study was performed to recommend the use of ISO system of units, and to analyze the weight to power ratios of the representative trucks in S. Korea, including the dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, and asphalt and concrete diffusers. RESULTS: From this study, the 85 percentile value of the weight to power ratio of the trucks in S. Korea's was found to be 103.6 kg/kw. CONCLUSIONS : The performance standard for the representative truck has to be increased upward, considering the travel pattern of the dump trucks, concrete mixers, and asphalt and concrete diffuser trucks, travel distances, narrow area (work zone) of operation, and the saving in construction budget for climbing lane. Based on this study, the weight to power ratio of the representative truck in S. Korea could possibly be revised to 100~110 kg/kW.

  • This paper presents the findings of an investigation of the fiber content variations in concrete being discharged from a ready-mix truck at the construction site. Concrete samples were extracted from the truck drums at the beginning, middle and end of discharge. Subsequently, fibers in each sample were separated from the concrete, and weighed. Presumably, synthetic macro fibers will float towards the top, i.e. towards the drum opening, of the inclined, revolving truck-drum, while, on the other hand, steel fibers will tend to gravitate towards the lower parts of the mixer drum. Accordingly, the discharge batch, containing synthetic macro fibers, will contain a higher amount of synthetic fibers per unit volume at the start of discharge than the average unit volume fiber content of the mix, and the content will gradually decrease further down the batch. The discharge batch of steel fiber concrete will contain fewer fibers per unit volume at the start of discharge than the average unit volume fiber content of the mix, and the content should gradually increase further down the batch. The correctness of the foregoing is partly confirmed. A certain percentage of the truck loads did not comply with the proposed requirements, mainly steel fiber reinforced batches, indicating the necessity of a code or guideline amendment. A change in the Norwegian shotcrete directive was made in 2011, based upon experimental research work (2010), which, in combination with the subsequent University of Life Sciences report (2012), constitutes the foundation of this article.

  • The cover of truck agitator give in a part to prevent the lower flowing of fresh concrete when the concrete are transported from the ready mixed concrete plant to the construction field. As a result of the question data, it show up a dirty image to the general civil society. Due to the above image, it is predicted to affect the image of the construction company, so we did the site experiment of the flowing, the amounts of air, the temperature change of concrete with the concrete left in the site, to find out the usefulness. Also, for the comparing with this, we got the result by doing the inner experiment with the same condition. As the result of the experiment, the cover of truck agitator affect little to the reduction of slump. The change of the air amount, regardless of the existence of cover, was not effected much in proper level until 60minutes. In addition, The compression strength was proper to the goal design strength until 90minutes regardless of the cover of truck agitator exist or not exist.

  • In downtown, construction noise related claims are the most important issues. Sometimes noise related claims halt the construction process. Therefore, Introduction of noise reduction measures is common to construction process with a loud noise. This case is about concrete pouring for mat foundation of super tall building. Concrete pouring process using High Pressure Pumping machine causes high noise level in the vicinity of area. And large number of transit-mixer truck cause traffic congestion. This paper introduces effort and process to prevention of construction noise claims on massive scale concrete pouring.

  • The samll-medium sized cities do not have enough infrastructure for the construction work, especially in terms of concrete supply. This research surveyed the capacity of remicon companies in Gunsan related with production and delivery. Their production capacity is bigger than the daily quantity required, however the delivery capacity is not enough to supply the daily quantity required and it is inevitable to use the several remicon using different admixture. It might cause the harm to the structure. This research studied the way to remove the quality risk when using different admixture at the same time.

  • Stabilizing and rousing sludge water generated from washing truck mixer and batcher plant can resolve inconsistency in quality and improve strength, therefore it is essential to review how to utilize it. This research conducted experiments and studied on solids of sludge water to find out the types of stabilizing agents available in conditions of producing ready mixed concretes in Korea. The result showed that oxy carboxylic acid retarder dedicated for stabilizing sludge water was most effective in decreasing solid. However, the setting time of cement paste was retarded due to surplus reactants, but it did not impede application of ready mixed concretes. When we left the sludge water mixed with stabilizing agent, it has been noted that initial retard effect recovered to the level using just service water in 7${\~}$8 days and that it is effective to use stabilized sludge water in 2${\~}$3 days. On the other hand, saccharic type super retarding agent was also outstanding in applicability by showing similar effect. The sludge water stabilizing agents currently marketed depend on imports, therefore it is necessary to locally manufacture usable stabilizing agents and to review its usability with multi-dimensional view.

  • Introduction: Surgical treatment of subclavian artery (SA) injury is challenging because approaching the lesion directly and clamping the proximal artery is difficult. This can be overcome by using an endovascular technique. Case 1: A 37-year-old male was drawn into the concrete mixer truck. He had a right SA injury with multiple traumatic injuries: an open fracture of the right leg with posterior tibial artery (PTA) injury, a right hemothorax, and fractures of the clavicle, scapula, ribs, cervical spine and nasal bone. The injury severity score (ISS) was 27. Computed tomography (CT) showed a 30-mm-length thrombotic occlusion in the right SA, which was 15 mm distal to the vertebral artery (VA). A self-expandable stent($8mm{\times}40mm$ in size) was deployed through the right femoral artery while preserving VA flow, and the radial pulse was palpable after deployment. Other operations were performed sequentially. He had a viable right arm during a 13-month follow-up period. Case 2: A 25-year-old male was admitted to our hospital due to a motorcycle accident. The ISS was 34 because of a hemothorax and open fractures of the mandible and the left hand. Intraoperative angiography was done through a right femoral artery puncture. Contrast extravasation of the SA was detected just outside the left rib cage. After balloon catheter had been inflated just proximal to the bleeding site, direct surgical exploration was performed through infraclavicular skin incision. The transected SA was identified, and an interposition graft was performed using a saphenous vein graft. Other operations were performed sequentially. He had a viable left arm during a 15-month follow-up period. Conclusion: The challenge of repairing an SA injury can be overcome by using an endovascular approach.
