  • The present paper reports an analytical study of delamination fracture in the Mixed Mode Flexure (MMF) functionally graded beam with considering the material non-linearity. The mechanical behavior of MMF beam is modeled by using a non-linear stress-strain relation. It is assumed that the material is functionally graded along the beam height. Fracture behavior is analyzed by the J-integral approach. Non-linear analytical solution is derived of the J-integral for a delamination located arbitrary along the beam height. The J-integral solution derived is verified by analyzing the strain energy release rate with considering the non-linear material behavior. The effects of material gradient, crack location along the beam height and material non-linearity on the fracture are evaluated. It is found that the J-integral value decreases with increasing the upper crack arm thickness. Concerning the influence of material gradient on the non-linear fracture, the analysis reveals that the J-integral value decreases with increasing the ratio of modulus of elasticity in the lower and upper edge of the beam. It is found also that non-linear material behavior leads to increase of the J-integral value. The present study contributes for the understanding of fracture in functionally graded beams that exhibit material non-linearity.

  • Sufficient conditions concerning the perturbation region of system parameters, which guarantee the asymptotic stability of linear time- varying systems, are presented. These conditions are obtained by Lyapunov function approach for continuous-time and discrete-time systems. Also, a computational algorithm using nonlinear programming is proposed for finding the maximum perturbation region which satisfies the sufficient condition for the continuous-time systems. The technique of finding the solution for the continuous-time systems can also be applied to the discrete-time systems. In the continuous-time case, it is shown by an example that the method proposed in this paper yields much larger perturbation region of parameters than other previously reported results. An example of the perturbation region of system paramters for the discrete-time system is also given.

  • This study propose CAE analysis of fire damper and design of the damper control system. Through the design of the damper system for ANSYS-CFX heat transfer. As a result of the analysis, continuance equation of the damper control. Climate system. Finaily, We have obtained a fire damper solution by using orthogonal array. The fire damper of the set of fixture and alveolus are made by using a CAE software. Also, the optimum design offshore structures. The new H-120 class fire damper was designed. In the near future, fire resistance test was carried out to obtain class H-120 thermal insulation of fire dampers according to a hydrocarbon fire conditions. The test results showed that the insulation of the damper blade was an important factor in the fireproof performance of fire dampers concerning the coaming length minimum 500mm on the unexposed side as specified test standard.

  • The spectrum of continuous transfer operator arising in a time-energy dependent neutron transport equation is analyzed. Four theorems concerning on the spectrum are proved. A convolution theorem of the generalized Mellin energy transform is given. Also the completeness theorem necessary for a final solution is proved. A unique time decay constant 1 - c is found, which is dominant asymptotically.

  • The paper presents a monitoring system for the cooling of distribution transformers. The suggested system is controlled by a microcontroller scheme. The system is designed to control the oil temperature. It gives a solution to improve the cooling system by adding a number of fans especially for indoor transformers that are placed in badly-ventilated rooms. Also, the paper includes an alarm system with the possibility of tripping the transformer if it is necessary. The monitoring system consists of acquisition temperature sensor, and on-site unit. The hardware and software of the on-site unit are demonstrated with sufficient illustrations. Small prototype is constructed in the laboratory. Some laboratory experiments are carried out for examining the designed circuit by using Proteus Virtual System Modeling as well as for testing the prototype monitoring system. Concerning this research point, a study is carried out to evaluate the economic feasibility. The results are recorded and associated with many recommendations that may be valuable to electrical distribution (utility) companies.

  • We introduce a new stable feedback controller eventually converges to a conventional SDRE(State Dependent Riccati Equation) based optimal (suboptimal) controller. On conventional SDRE, the optimal control input should be obtained by backward integration of the SDRE at each control point. The proposed controller is given by direct forward integration of a proposed SDRE. This fact enables fast computation and easy implementation. On concerning a state dependent system, the proposed controller may be a candidate to the conventional SDRE based optimal controller if the system is slow varying with states. Though the controller is fast and easy to implement it is not able to cope with a fast varying system. We introduce an optimality index, which indicates how far the proposed controller is deviated from the solution of the convectional SDRE. If the index escapes a ...

  • In this paper, theoretical approach with applications of the periodic wave solutions in an elastic material is applied by study the effect of initial stress, and rotation, on the radial displacement and the corresponding stresses in non-homogeneous orthotropic material. An Analytical solution for the elastodynamic equation has obtained concerning the component of displacement. The variations of stresses and displacements have shown graphically. Comparisons with previously published results in the absence of initial stress, rotation and non-homogeneity have made. Finally, numerical results have given and illustrated graphically for each case considered.

  • Microstructural control to produce multiphase structure has received much attention to improve the high temperature strength as well as low temperature ductility of intermetallics. Transmission electron microscopic investigation has been carried out concerning the effect of Cr-precipitation on the mechanical properties of B2-ordered NiAl containing 4 to 8 mol% of Cr. By aging at temperatures around 973 K after solution annealing, fine spherical precipitates took place homogeneously in the NiAl matrix and the alloys hardened appreciably. Selected area electron diffraction (SAED) patterns have not revealed any additional extra-spots during aging, because the Cr-particles show cube-cube orientation relationship and keep a perfect coherency with the ordered matrix lattice. Dislocations were confirmed to bypass the particles during deformation. Although the dispersion of Cr-particles increased the yield strength of NiAl at intermediate temperature, the strength decreased appreciably at higher temperatures.

  • Effective alginate extraction from waste-brown seaweeds was studied. The waste-brown seaweeds almost consist of stems of seaweeds. Alginate could be obtained from the stems as well as leaves of seaweed. Ultrasonic vibration(47kHz) facilitated filtering step in the alginate extraction process. Among various alkalies for alginate extraction, $NaHCO_3$ was most appropriate concerning use of dealginates. The yield of alginate extraction using $NaHCO_3$ 2wt% solution was 19.3% at $60^{\circ}C$. The dealginates from $NaHCO_3$-extraction process have been found most suitable food for red-worms.

  • Refrigerators have some frost related problems in a freezing compartment. The frost formation in the refrigerator gives customers a bad impression concerning quality problems. Therefore, many engineers have been studying the optimum solution to avoid frost formation. But the problem of frost formation is very complex and hard to approach to the answer. The frost generation of a household refrigerator have been widely known that is closely related to the distribution of temperature inside the compartment. The distribution depends on the cold air circulation inside the refrigerator. So frost problem can be reduced and energy consumption efficiency also improved through optimization of air flow fields inside the freezing compartment. In this paper, numerical simulation has been carried out to check fluid flow. The variation of temperature at the walls was measured and quantitative analysis of frost generated from the freezing compartment was carried out. Through comparison between simulation and experiment, some correlation revealed.
