  • Purpose: This study was designed to explore the perceptions of quality nursing care among nurses. Method: The data were analyzed using content analysis. The data were collected from 19 nurses who worked at diverse clinical areas in 8 general and university hospitals with over 400 beds. Result: 1. The attributes of quality nursing care were categorized into 7 hierarchies in the order of 'caring' (40.65%), 'specialty' (29.03%), 'nurse attainments' (15.48%), 'patient- centered nursing management' (6.45%), 'sincerity' (5.16%), 'kindness' (2.58%), 'satisfaction' (0.65%). 2. The concept of quality nursing care were defined as 'giving a satisfaction both to patients and nurses through patient-centered nursing management with specialty and caring in the ground of the kindness and sincerity'. Conclusion: Based on there findings, we suggest that the study results should be used for development of a quality assurance tool in nursing practice, patient care in hospital setting, education of nurses and nursing students. In addition, further repeated studies need to be conducted.

  • MBNQA(Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award) was established in 1987 in order to promote the spread of TQM in U.S. Likewise, JQA(Japanese Quality Award) was set up in 1995 in order to upgrade the level of TQM activities in Japan. MBNQA and JQA are quite the same in their basic concept, values, and the process of the examination, but they differ in the contents of the criteria. The objective of this study is to identify the differences between MBNQA and JQA in terms of strategy planning category. Therefore, in this paper, strategy planning category is analyzed, especially its theoretical validity is examined by literature review. The major differences are as follows: JQA emphasizes strongly the evaluation process than MBNQA by requiring the measuring of the level of strategic achievement. On the other hand, in MBNQA, strategic objectives must be estimated by decision analysis techniques, scenario tools, and other statistical methodologies.

  • A study that demonstrates how to investigate the molded part quality and the consistency of injection process based on the rheological concept is proposed. It is important for plastic material whose melt viscosity is variable with respect to the processing condition. The formulations to couple the melt viscosity with injection pressure and fill time are derived first. Taking calculations of the measured pressure and the time by using these formulations, the melt viscosity in injection process can be determined on machine. As the relation between the injection speed and the melt viscosity is constructed, the influences of the setting parameter of injection machine on the molded part quality can be investigated through evaluating the state of the melt viscosity. In addition, a pressure sensor bushing (PSB) designed with a quick installation feature is also provided and validated. The results show that a higher injection speed improves the tensile strength of the molded part but also the consistency of the molded part quality. This work provides an alternative to evaluate the molding quality scientifically.

  • Supply Chain Management is a process-oriented concept, integrated approach to procuring, producing, and delivering products and services to customers. Supply Chain Management covers the management of material, information, and funds flows. A strategic supply chain management produces for value maker and the ultimate customer. One aim of this paper is to determine the effect of contract parameters on the quality of the end product of the supplier-producer chain. The supply chain management is viewed as a single entity rather fragmented. This research constructed model the relationship of supply chain management to quality management. The questionnaire were tested with survey of supplier's employee and the result were analyzed using SEM(Structural Equation Model). As a result, Quality performance positively depends on the communication, coordination, and process management between the supplier and the producer.

  • One of the major issues in the material-based or acceptance quality characteristics asphalt pavement Quality Assurance (QA) is that the method does not have rationality to link between the individual materials and the projected performance of the pavement. A new asphalt mix QA method has been recently developed under a national research project using the probabilistic Performance Related Specification (PRS). This advanced PRS QA methodology integrates the AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design$^{(R)}$ technology with the simple performance test concept that bridges the material characteristics with the pavement performance. This paper presents a case study of asphalt pavement performance using the developed PRS QA computer program, named Quality Related Specification Software (QRSS), with an actual pavement project, to demonstrate the developed PRS procedure and to assess the robustness of QRSS in terms of the rationality of the distress predictions. The results of this limited case study show that the new PRS QA method reasonably predicts the pavement performance, properly applied the probabilistic methods, and produced rational pay adjustment.

  • In industries, the capability indices $C_p$ and $C_{pk}$ can be used to provide measures of process potential capability and performance, respectively. The new approach advocated by Taguchi in quality control overcomes some problems in other approaches preventive management activities. Taguchi introduces the emphasis on loss function to improve quality of products on the side of customer. The proceeding concept of capability indices is not rational for the measurement of quality if the process mean is not equal to target value. The Taguchi approach is said to be more reasonable than the others in quality evaluation because of his loss function. However, the capability indices $C_{pm}{^+}$ and $C_{pn}$ using Taguchi's loss function only consider, acceptance cost for deviation from target value within specification limits. In other words, they do not include rejection cost for nonconformings that are failed to fall on the specification limits.

  • In this study, a traditional concept of sampling inspection plan for the quality assurance system is extended to a consideration of economic aspects in total production system by representing and analyzing the effects between proceding/succeeding production process including inspection. This approach recognizes that the decision to be made at one manufacturing process (or assembly process) determine not only the cost and the average outgoing quality level of that process but also the input parameters of the cost and the incoming quality to the succeeding process. By analyzing the effects of the average incoming and outgoing quality, manufacturing/assembly quality level and sampling inspection plan on the production system, mathematical models and solution technique to minimize the total production cost for a single product manufacturing system with specified average outgoing quality limit (AOQL) are suggested.

  • Most organizations adopt a process-based approach to manage their operations and now business process management(BPM) is a well-established concept. Because ISO 9001:2000 has been influenced by BPR and it also emphasizes process based, BPM can get together with ISO 9001:2000. Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information has taken ISO 9001:2000 certificate in November 11, 2003 and now implements quality management systems based on BPMS. We call it KQMS(KISTI Quality Management System). KQMS based on BPMS is a new example in field of ISO quality management and is expected to support process management well.

  • Purpose: Authors observe the digital twin enabled smart factory and/or digital manufacturing processes where Industry 4.0 technologies and quality management principles intersect. In this regard, this study reviews existing research regarding digital twins from the perspective of quality management. Methods: Initially, attention was given to how digital twins are manifested in the Industry 4.0 environment. Then, authors identify quality management elements amongst digital twin models, to align the concept of quality with the functional purpose of digital twins. After introducing specific examples of quality management tools applied to digital twins, the authors extend the domain of quality management into the analysis of multimedia format quality data obtained through machine vision. Results: Inspired by cases on the quality management application to digital twins, the authors suggest a framework for Industry 4.0 quality management. The envisioned suggested framework encompasses 4 dimensions, namely, 4M&1E, an application time window, new methodologies, and enabling technologies. Conclusion: Finally, the authors unfold the emerging trend of digital twin enabled smart factories, while emphasizing the necessity of quality management in conjunction with the introduction of digital twins.
