In this study, the SCFs in tubular T-joints stiffened with external ring under axial load are studied and discussed. After verification of the present numerical model with the results of several available experimental tests, 156 FE models were generated and analyzed to parametrically evaluate the effect of the joint geometry and the ring geometry on the SCFs. Results indicated that the SCF of the stiffened T-joints at crown point can be down to 24% of the SCF of the corresponding un-reinforced joint at the same point. Also, the effect of the ring on the SCF at saddle point is more remarkable than the effect of the ring on the SCF at crown point. Moreover, against un-reinforced joints under axial load, the SCF at saddle point of the stiffened joint is smaller than the SCF at crown point of that stiffened joint. The ring results in the redistribution of stresses in the ring and metal substrate. Also, the effect of the ring thickness on the decrease of the SCFs is slight and can be ignored. In final step, the geometric parameters affecting the SCFs of the stiffened T-joints are analyzed by multiple nonlinear regression analyses. An accurate formula is proposed for determining the SCFs.
It is very important to know mean and confidence interval of water-quality constituents such as BOD for water-quality control and management of rivers and reservoirs effectively. The mean and confidence interval of BOD at Anseong2 and Hwangguji3 sampling stations which are located at the border of local governments in Anseong Stream were estimated and analyzed in this paper using Bootstrap technique which is one of non-parametric statistics. The results of Bootstrap were compared with arithmetic mean, geometric mean, Biweight method mean as a point estimator and distribution mean came from the appropriate probability distribution of Log-normal. In Bootstrap technique 12 data set was randomly selected in each year and 1000 samples was produced to get parameter of population. Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) of Microsoft Excel was utilized in Bootstrap. It was revealed that the Bootstrap technique can be used to explain more rigorously and robustly the achievement or violation of BOD target concentration in Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL).
The present article investigates the influence of hydrogen concentration on the creep performance of cold-worked stress-relieved unirradiated Zircaloy-4 cladding tube using nanoindentation technique. The as-received Zircaloy-4 tube is hydrided to the concentrations of 600 ppm and 900 ppm using gaseous hydrogen charging method. Constant load indentation creep tests are performed for a dwell period of 600 s in the temperature range of 300℃-500 ℃ at 1000 μN, 2000 μN, and 3000 μN. The impact of hydrogen is evaluated in terms of steady state power law creep exponent and activation energy. The power law creep exponent decreases with increase in hydrogen concentration, however, it remains fairly constant with increase in temperature up to 500 ℃. Moreover, activation energy too decreases significantly with increase in hydrogen concentration. The mean stress exponent and activation energy are found to be 3.58 and 28.67 kJ/mol, respectively, for as-received sample.
Runoff characteristics of pollutant loads of the lower Han River was studied before full implementation of Total Pollution Load Management System(TPLMS). Magnitude of macroscopic(annual) fluctuation was in the order of Namhan River > Han River > Bukhan River, gross weight TP > gross weight TN > gross weight BOD, gross weight deviation > concentration deviation. Flux variation was higher than that of concentration. Microscopic(weekly) fluctuation showed similar pattern to macroscopic scale. TP showed the highest deviation resulting in the lowest reliability. 60% of annual flux passed during summer 3months resulting in 43-46% pass of gross weight at the lower Han River. Strong correlation was found between flux and gross weight especially in gross weight TN. Gross weight pollution increased as high as 400% while passing Seoul area due to the concentration. The deviation from moving average increased during summer season in the gross weight TP and BOD. Seasonal tendency was confirmed especially in gross weight TN and TP using autocorrelation function.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of selected sediment reduction methods to reduce sediment discharges from drain and irrigation of different types (concrete canals, soil canals). This study was carried out to analysis for the suspended sediment concentration and sediment of drain and irrigation by velocity of flow. The results of study were analysised and summerized as follow. Sedimentation characteristics and size of soil sediment from the concrete and soil canals of downstream smaller than upstream. Suspended sediment concentration and flow times from the suggestion canals bigger than open canal. Structural shape of the canal decreases the velocity of flow also affects the suspended sediment concentration and flow times.
Stress concentration is an interesting and essential field of study, as it is the prime cause of failure of structural parts under static load. In the current paper, stress and strain concentration factors in unidirectional functionally graded (UDFGM) plate with central circular cutout are predicted by carrying out a finite element study on ANSYS APDL platform. The present study aims to bridge the lacuna in the understandings of stress analysis in perforated functionally graded plates. It is found that the material variation parameter is an important criterion while designing a perforated UDFGM plate. By selecting a proper material variation parameter and direction of material gradation, the stress and strain concentrations can be significantly reduced.
Assume fluid eddy viscosity in the vertical direction is parabolic. Sediment particles diffuse with the given fluid eddy viscosity. However, when the vertical diffusion coefficient profile is computed from the suspended sediment concentration profile, the coefficient shows lager values than the fluid mixing coefficient values. This trend was explained by using two sizes of sediment particles. When fine sediment particles like wash load are added in water column the sediment mixing coefficient looks much larger than the fluid mixing coefficient.

PVDF film sensor was applied to measure the stress concentration for monitoring the structural integrity. The strain calibration of this film sensor was performed by the bending test of aluminum beam. The PVDF sensor and the electrical strain gage were bonded on the beam. When the beam was loaded, the output of electrical strain gage was compared with the output of the PVDF sensor. The waveform of PVDF sensor output was shown as the same form of the output of electrical strain gage. The gain was determined as 1.7 by comparing these two signals to determine the exact value of the strain. In order to experiment the stress concentration, the stress field was analyzed by finite element analysis. The tensile test of notched steel specimens was conducted to develop the measurement technique of stress concentration. The output voltage ratio between the PVDF sensor near the notch and the PVDF sensor far from the notch could give the information about the load bearing capacity of steel specimen.
A fatigue damage caused by cyclic load is considered as one of the important failure mechanisms that threaten the integrity of structures and components in a nuclear power plant. In ASME code section III NB, the fatigue analysis procedure and standard S-N curves for the class 1 components are described and these criteria should be met at the design step of components. As the current ASME S-N curves are based on the very conservative assumptions such as a local stress concentration effect, immoderate transient frequencies and a constant Young's modulus, however, they can not precisely address the fatigue behavior of components. In order to find out the technical solution for these problems, a number of researches and discussion have been carried out continuously at home and abroad over the decades. In this study, detailed fatigue analyses for DVI nozzle with various mesh density of finite elements were performed to evaluate effect of stress concentration factors on the fatigue analysis procedure and the excessive conservatism of stress concentration factors are confirmed through the analysis results.

The stress concentration factors and stress intensity factors for a simple beam and a cantilever are analyzed by using finite element method and phtoelasticity. Using the analyzed results, the estimated graphs on stress concentration factors and stress intensity factors are obtained. To analyze stress concentration factors of notch, the dimensionless notch length H(height of specimen)/h=1.1~2 and dimensionless gap space r(radius at the notch tip)/h=0.1~0.5 are used. where h=H-c and c is the notch length. As the notch gap length increases and the gap decreases, the stress concentration factors increase. Stress concentration factors of a simple beam are greater than those of a cantilever beam. However, actually, the maximum stress values under a load, a notch length and a gap occur more greatly in the cantilever beam than in the simple beam. To analyze stress intensity factors, the normalized crack length a(crack length)/H=0.2~0.5 is used. As the length of the crack increases, the normalized stress intensity factors increase. The stress intensity factors under a constant load and a crack length occur more greatly in the cantilever beam than in the simple beam.
