The purpose of this study is to develop the Generalized Depreciation Function (GDF) and Winfrey Depreciation Function (WDF) by reviewing methods for the depreciation accountings. The Depreciation Accounting Models (DAM), including straight-line model, declining-balance model, sum-of-the-year-digit model and sinking fund model presented in this paper, are reclassified into the charging pattern of increasing type, decreasing type and constant type. This paper also discusses the development of the GDFs based on convex type, concave type and constant type according to the demand pattern of product, frequency of plant usage, deterioration of time, relative inadequacy, Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operating Expenditure (OPEX) of the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). The WDFs presented in this paper depict a sudden degradation of plant performance by measuring the change of TPM activity at the midpoint of useful life of asset. The WDFs are classified into left-modal type, symmetrical type and right-modal type by varying the value of skewness and kurtosis. Moreover, three increasing patterns, such as convex, concave and linear types, are used in this paper to present the distinct identification of WFDs by using Instantaneous Depreciation Rate (IDR) in terms of Performance Depreciation Function (PDF) and Depreciation Density Function (DDF). In order to have better understanding of depreciation models, the numerical examples are used for evaluating the Net Operating Less Adjusted Tax (NOPLAT) and Economic Value Added (EVA). It is concluded that the depreciation models showing a large dispersion of EVA require the adjustment of NOPLAT and Invested Capital (IC) based on the objective cash basis and net operating activity for reducing the variation of EVA.
The present paper deals with the application of the explicit finite element code, PAM-CRASH, to simulate the crash behavior of steel thin-walled tubes with various cross-sections subjected to axial loading. An isotropic elastic, linear strain-hardening material model was used in the finite element analysis and the strain-rate sensitivity of mild steel was modeled by using the Cowper-Symonds constitutive equation with modified coefficients. The modified coefficients were applied in numerical collapse simulations of 11 types of thin-walled polygon tubes: 7 convex polygon tubes and 4 concave polygon tubes. The results show that the thin hexagonal tube and the thick octagonal tube showed relatively good performance within the convex polygon tubes. The crush strengths of the hexagonal and octagonal tubes increased by about 20% and 25% from the crush strength of the square tube, respectively. Among the concave tubes, the I-type tube showed the best performance. Its crush strength was about 50% higher than the crush strength of the square tube.
In this paper, we report that selective etching on N-polar face by EC (electro-chemical)-etching effect on the reduction of bowing and strain of FS (free-standing)-GaN substrates. We applied the EC-etching to concave and convex type of FS-GaN substrates. After the EC-etching for FS-GaN, nano porous structure was formed on N-polar face of concave and convex type of FS-GaN. Consequently, the bowing in the convex type of FS-GaN substrate was decreased but the bowing in the concave type of FS-GaN substrate was increased. Furthermore, the FWHM (full width at half maximum) of (1 0 2) reflection for the convex type of FS-GaN was significantly decreased from 601 to 259 arcsec. In the case, we confirmed that the EC-etching method was very effective to reduce the bowing in the convex type of FS-GaN and the compressive stress in N-polar face of convex type of FS-GaN was fully released by Raman measurement.
This study deals with finish roll forming by forced displacement can be conceived as a method of eliminating errors in conventional form rolling under constant loads. This method produces a high-precision tooth profile by low-speed form rolling when a high rigid screw or cam is used at the pressurized section. Tooth profile is decided in the beginning of roll forming and ${\delta}_{max}$ mainly increases if the number of roll forming process is increased. Gear class is improved by one or two class after roll forming if the gear has convex type error and pressure angle error in KS 4 class. If the gear have concave type error and pressure angle error and pressure angle error, gear class is not improved in theory, but improved a little in practice. In the finishing roll forming, it inevitably yields both the concaving of tooth profile and plastic deflection of addendum of teeth. Experiments show that the concaving and the plastic deflection are successfully reduced, the accuracy of tooth profile reaches to KS 0 class.
This clinical study was conducted to evaluate the clinical effects of a concave neck of external connection type implant fixture designed for platform switching on the peri-implant tissue responses. Two types of implants with different neck designs were implanted in 20 patients. For the experimental group, the bioseal(BS) implant fixtures with 's' shaped concave profile on the neck were used, and non-bioseal(NBS) implant fixtures with a straight profile on the neck were used as control(Total of 40 implants, NBS: n = 19, BS: n=21). During the one-year period after implant placement, implant survival rate, marginal bone resorption, bleeding, plaque, and complications were evaluated. The survival rate of NBS and BS group was 94.74% and 90.48%, respectively. There was no significant difference on marginal bone resorption, bleeding and plaque between the two groups (P>.05). Within the limits of the present study, implants with a concave neck design showed similar clinical results to implants with a straight neck design on the peri-implant tissue responses. Longitudinal clinical studies are necessary to confirm more effective clinical results.
This study was carried out to develop the throw-in type thresher with its size as small as possible. Developing the smallest possible size of the throw-in type thresher has been very important to increase mobility and to reduce the machine price. The thresher that developed for this purpose was tested as to threshing and separation performance for the samples collected in eight catch boxes under the concave while threshing. The amount of grain collected in each compartments was measured and the threshing and separating pattern along the total span of the threshing drum was determined. The performance of separating and threshing units of the test thresher and threshing loss was evaluated by use of the developed grain separating apparatus and the method for measuring the grain separating performance of threshers. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The unthreshed grain (drum losses) and semi-threshed grain did not appeared at all throughout the treatments. 2. When threshed by making use of the developed throw-in type thresher, the threshing grain loss at about 25 per cent grain moisture was about one-half when threshed at about 18 per cent grain moisture. 3. And its grain separating loss in higher feed rate was decreased in comparison with that of lower feed rate. These results suggests that the throw-in type thresher may be suitable for wet threshing and for higher feed rate of threshing. 4. Above 60 per cent of total grain passing through concave fell through the screen within a scant 30 cm from the feeding inlet. This threshing pattern may suggest that major threshing action may be finished before about one third of cylinder length. The required separating load extended over the whole drum span is so defferent that separating elements should be redesigned so as to accomodate this variable pattern of separation load. 5. It was apparent from the experiment that the length of the threshing drum of the throw-in type thresher could be reduced from 1285mm to about 1050mm without increasing grain separation loss greatly.
The 3-lobes blower has been conventionally made by constructing the impeller with the cross-section of simple arc, and has several problems such as noise, vibration and the oscillation of torque. These are caused by the variation of clearance between both impellers rotating in geared. In the present study, an approach for the design of cross-section of impeller has been proposed to prevent the above problems. The whole cross-section is divided into the concave and convex part. The concave zone is designed by simple arc and the convex zone is modified by the condition that some part of convex zone is always in contact with the other impeller during rotating. A sample design has been carried out and it can be seen that the clearance between both impellers is always uniform and the validity of present work has been verified.
This study was carried out to analyze the occurrence characteristics and the influence of forest environment factors on the debris flow of 3 national parks in korea. The results obtained from this study were summarized as follows; The total number of debris flow occurrence was 125 areas. The average length of the debris flow scar was 144m, average width was 20m. And the average area and sediment were $2,854m^2$ and $3,959m^3$ respectively. The factors influencing the debris flow were highly occurred in Metamorphic rock, mixed forest type. And also, slope gradient was $30{\sim}35^{\circ}$, aspect was NE, altitude was over 1,000m, vertical and cross slope was concave (凹), soil depth was below 15cm, stream order was 0 order. The variables of cross slope (complex), deciduous tree, soil depth (over 46cm), cross slope (concave), mixed forest type and altitude (801~1200m) in correlation analysis were significant at 1 % level. The landslide of high mountain area highly tend to change the debris flow in stream bed of torrent. The debris flow in national parks mainly occurred in high mountain area with long ridge and steep slope.
There is a critically structural problem of scaffolding system when one of scaffold columns is remove to be used as a gangway for their temporary office in the structure before finishing all such as an apartment or office building. This is not used to checking to structurally checking at a construction site. This study is to find out which system at a site will be more effective and low-cost-high effectiveness of aluminum ladder, timber ladder, ${\phi}$1/2 inch steel pipe truss with a type of concave, convex warren truss ladders. Theses are structurally tested with horizontal set as a truss type with 1.8 meter long. Concentrated load has been loaded at the upper center of the system and checked its strain at the bottom center, using aluminum-use strain gage and steel-use gauge have been attached concave warren truss with diameter 1/2 inch has 14% stronger than convex truss. Convex truss has almost same strength as an aluminum ladder truss, it is found out.

The complete avoidance of cavitation, as a result of gap flow between the fixed and movable portion of a horn type rudder system, is difficult. To reduce gap flow, it is a common practice to attach a half round prismatic bar that protrudes beyond the concave surface of the horn facing the gap and laid along the centerplane of the rudder. However the employment of such a device does not always yield satisfactory results. Previously, the authors have shown that a pair of blocking bars, attached on the convex surface of the movable portion, better enhance the blocking ability of gap flow to that of a single centre bar installed on the concave surface. This also circumvents difficulties that might occur in practical applications. In the present study, a series of numerical computations show that flow injected into the gap of a rudder may also block the flow within, without employment of any physical devices, such as a half circular bar. This study also shows that the combination of flow injection and blocking bars may result in the synergic augmentation of blocking efficiency of gap flow, as demonstrated in computations for a three dimensional rudder system.
