A Case Study of Procedural and Conceptual Knowledge Construction in the Computer Environments

  • This study investigated three preservice teachers' mathematical problem solving among hand-in-write-ups and final projects for each subject. All participants' activities and computer explorations were observed and video taped. If it was possible, an open-ended individual interview was performed before, during, and after each exploration. The method of data collection was observation, interviewing, field notes, students' written assignments, computer works, and audio and videotapes of preservice teachers' mathematical problem solving activities. At the beginning of the mathematical problem solving activities, all participants did not have strong procedural and conceptual knowledge of the graph, making a model by using data, and general concept of a sine function, but they built strong procedural and conceptual knowledge and connected them appropriately through mathematical problem solving activities by using the computer technology.

The Global Publication Output in Augmented Reality Research: A Scientometric Assessment for 1992-2019

  • This paper describes global research in the field of augmented reality (22078) as indexed in Scopus database during 1992-2019, using a series of bibliometric indicators. The augmented reality (AR) research registered high 54.23% growth, averaged citation impact of 8.90 citations per paper. Nearly 1% of global output in the subject (226 papers) registered high-end citations (100+) per paper. The top 15 countries accounted for 87.05% of global publications output in the subject. The USA is in leadership position for its highest publications productivity (19.25% global share). The U.K. leads the world on relative citation index (2.05). International collaboration has been a major driver of AR research pursuits; between 11.89% and 44.04% of national share of top 15 countries in AR research appeared as international collaborative publications. AR research productivity by application types was the largest across sectors, such as education, industry and medical. Computer science has emerged as the most popular areas in AR research pursuits. Technical University of Munich, Germany and Osaka University, Japan have been the most productive organizations and Nara Institute of S&T, Japan (66.55 and 7.48) and Imperial College, London, U.K. (57.14 and 6.42) have been the most impactful organizations. M. Billinghurst and N. Navab have been the most productive authors and S. Feiner and B. MacIntyre have been the most impactful authors. IEEE Transactions on Visualization & Computer Graphics, Multimedia Tools & Applications and Virtual Reality topped the list of most productive journals.

A Study on Performance Assessment Methods by Using Fuzzy Logic

  • Performance assessment was introduced to improvement of self-directed learning and method of assessment for differenced learning as the seventh educational curriculum is enforced. Performance assessment is overcoming limitation about problem solving ability and higher thinking abilities assessment that is problem of a written examination and get into the spotlight by way for quality of class and school normalization. But, performance assessment has problems about possibilities of assessment fault by appraisal, fairness, reliability, and validity of grading, ambiguity of grading standard, difficulty about objectivity security etc. This study proposes fuzzy performance assessment system to solve problem of the conventional performance assessment. This paper presented an objective and reliable performance assessment method through fuzzy reasoning, design fuzzy membership function and define fuzzy rule analyzing factor that influence in each sacred ground of performance assessment to account principle subject. Also, performance assessment item divides by formation estimation and subject estimation and designed membership function in proposed performance assessment method. Performance assessment result that is worked through fuzzy performance assessment system can pare down burden about appraisal's fault and provide fair and reliable assessment result through grading that have correct standard and consistency to students.

텍스트 스토리에서 등장인물간 감정 흐름 그래프를 이용한 행위소 모델 기반의 등장인물 역할 인식 (Actantial Model-based Character Role Recognition using Emotional Flow Graph among Characters in Text Stories)

  • 스토리에서 등장하는 인물들을 식별하고 인물들 간의 관계를 분석하는 것은 스토리 이해를 위해 중요한 과정이다. 본 논문은 그레마스의 행위소 모델(Actantial model)에 기반하여 스토리 속에서 등장하는 인물들 중에서 주체자(Subject,또는 주인공)를 식별하고, 등장인물들간의 상호작용으로 생성되는 관계에 기반한 감정 흐름을 분석하여 조력자(Helper)/반대자(Opponent)의 관계를 자동으로 식별하는 것을 목표로 한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 3단계로 구성된다. 먼저, 텍스트 스토리에서 등장하는 객체(인물)를 식별한다. 다음으로, 이들의 상호관계를 통한 관계 정보를 추출하여 관계정보로 표현되는 텍스트에서 감정을 분류한다. 마지막으로, 등장인물들간 감정의 흐름을 방향성 그래프로 도출한다. 그래프에서 차수가 가장 높은 노드 (즉, 가장 많은 관계 정보를 형성하는 노드)는 주체자로 간주하며, 주체자에 긍정적/부정적인 감정을 가장 많이 보내는 노드를 조력자/반대자로 각각 간주한다. 본 연구는 텍스트 스토리로부터 행위소 모델의 세 가지 구성요소들(즉, 주체자, 조력자, 반대자)을 자동으로 추출하는 계산 모델을 제공함으로써 컴퓨터를 이용한 서사 이해에 기여한다.

불안정판을 이용한 고령자를 위한 평형감각 훈련의 정량적 분석 (Quantitative Analysis of the Training of Equilibrium Sense for the Elderly Using an Unstable Platform)

  • This paper presents quantitative analysis of a training system based on an unstable platform and a visual interactive system for improving sense of equilibrium. The training system consists of an unstable platform, a force plate, a safety harness, a monitoring device, and a personal-computer. To confirm the effects of the training system, fifteen young volunteers and five elderly volunteers went through a series of balance training using the system. During the training, we measured relevant parameters such as the time a subject maintain his or her center of pressure on a target, the time a subject moves his or her center of pressure to the target, and the mean absolute deviation of the trace before and after training with this system and training programs to evaluate the effects of the training. The results showed that the training system can successfully assess the gradual improvement of the postural control capability of the subject in the system and showed a possibility of improving balance of the subject. Moreover, the significant improvement in the postural capability of the elderly subject suggests that elderly subjects can benefit more from the training using the system for the improvement of sense of equilibrium.

Analysis of University Academic Achievements using the Formal Concept Analysis - Focusing on Computer Engineering Department -

  • This study had a purpose to find the correlation between academic achievement and entrance examination score using FCA and framing a concept of university academic achievement and entrance examination score and then, building concept lattice. The subject for this analysis was admission materials of freshmen in computer engineering department at A university located in Chungcheong area in 2010. Also 56 students in total were subjects for the score analysis of their first semester from 2010 to 2014. The major findings of this study were as follows. We organized and extracted many-valued context, concept lattice, associated rules using FCA. And we analyzed the correlation between University academic achievement and entrance examination score using FCA. The conclusions were as follows. We could get meaningful analyzed results using FCA. University academic achievement had lower relativeness with entrance examination score and female students had higher university academic achievement than male students. The improvement points are summarized below. It is necessary to improve the ratio and application method of the university admission factors and to increase the regular admission for a university. And programs for completing College-preparatory programming for male students in low university academic achievement are necessary.

컴퓨터 그래픽 모델을 통한 보행 시 발의 생체역학적 해석 (Biomechanical analysis of human foot using the computer graphic-based model during walking)

  • The purpose of this investigation was to study the kinematics of joints between foot segments based on computer graphic-based model during the stance phase of walking. In the model, ail joints were assumed to act as monocentric, single degree of freedom hinge joints. The motion of foot was captured by a video collection system using four cameras. The model fitted in an individual subject was simulated with this motion data. The kinematic data of tarsometatarsal joints and metatarso-phalangeal joint were quantitatively similar to the previous data. Therefore, our method using the computer graphic-based model is considered useful.

소셜협업도구를 활용한 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트가 여대생의 대인관계변화에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of SW Development Project with Social Collaboration tool on Inter-relationship Change of Women's University Students)

  • This paper deals with inter-relationship change of women's university students on the process of SW development project using social collaboration tool. Inter-relationship is one of the basic vocational competency in NCS(National Competency Standards) of Korea. We redesigned the curriculum of "Software Engineering" subject for this study and composed the project teams of students to develop software. The details of inter-relationship are satisfaction, communication, faith, friendliness, sensitivity, openness and consideration. From the result of this study, faith, openness and consideration have positive effect but satisfaction, communication, friendliness and sensitivity have no meaningful effect. The surveys were conducted in the beginning of semester and the same surveys were conducted again in the end of semester. The results were verified by paired t-test with SPSS 18.0. It is significant that the using of social collaboration tool for team project has positive effect on inter-relationship change, especially faith of women's university students. This study has some limitations for generalization but has meaning as new trial to enlarge the basic vocational competency of students in major subject, "Software Engineering". We expect new study for inter-relationship change of students to evaluate generality based on the proposed method in this paper.

Orthonormal Polynomial based Optimal EEG Feature Extraction for Motor Imagery Brain-Computer Interface

  • In this paper, we explored the new method for extracting feature from the electroencephalography (EEG) signal based on linear regression technique with the orthonormal polynomial bases. At first, EEG signals from electrodes around motor cortex were selected and were filtered in both spatial and temporal filter using band pass filter for alpha and beta rhymic band which considered related to the synchronization and desynchonization of firing neurons population during motor imagery task. Signal from epoch length 1s were fitted into linear regression with Legendre polynomials bases and extract the linear regression weight as final features. We compared our feature to the state of art feature, power band feature in binary classification using support vector machine (SVM) with 5-fold cross validations for comparing the classification accuracy. The result showed that our proposed method improved the classification accuracy 5.44% in average of all subject over power band features in individual subject study and 84.5% of classification accuracy with forward feature selection improvement.

중등학교 정보 교사의 공개소프트웨어 인지도 (The Open Source Software Understanding of the Information Subject Teachers in the Middle and High School)

  • 정부에서는 공개소프트웨어 보급을 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이의 일환으로 공개소프트웨어 시범 사업을 시행하고 있으며 정보화 사업 평가 항목에 공개소프트웨어 사용 여부 포함하고 있다. 그러나 잠재적인 공개소프트웨어 사용자인 중등학교 학생들을 대상으로 공개소프트웨어에 대한 홍보와 교육이 부족한 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 현재 중등학교에서 정보 교과를 담당하는 교사들의 공개소프트웨어에 대한 인지도를 파악하고 분석한다. 이 연구 결과는 중등학교에서의 공개소프트웨어 교육을 활성화하기 위해 방안을 찾는데 기초 자료로 활용 될 수 있다.
