  • The purpose of this study were to investigate 1) present condition of children's usage of computer game, 2) difference in extent of immersing in computer game according to grade, and 3) difference in extent of immersing in computer game according to conditions of computer game usage. A total of 239 children from 1st to 3rd grade in an elementary school in Busan were surveyed with two kinds of questionnaires about usage of and immersion in computer game. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 program. It was revealed that the 1st graders showed higher scores on experience of computer game, frequency of computer game per week, and amount of time for each computer game than the 3rd graders. However, there were no significant differences in extent of immersing in computer game according to grade and to conditions of computer game usage. The findings of this study implies that the age of using computer game is going down rapidly. Discussions and suggestions for further study were provided.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of generating theme, background amd signal music usage monitoring information based on a blockchain, in which the music usage informations are recorded by the monitoring tool using feature-based filtering of monitoring organizations. Theme, background and signal music are music inserted into the broadcasting contents of broadcaster. Since they are recognized as created contents just like normal music, there are lyricists and composers who have the right for those music and all copyright holders of them have to receive the corresponding copyright fees, once the music was used in the broadcast. However, there are problems with inaccurate monitoring results for music usage, due to the omission of usage details and non-transparent settlement method. In order to solve these problems, If the information generation method proposed in this paper, accurate music usage history can be created, the details are stored in the blockchain without changes or omissions, and transparent settlement and distribution are possible by smart contract, avoiding the current non-transparent settlement method.

  • This paper describes our design of a contents distribution framework that supports transparent distribution of digital contents on the Internet as well as copyright protection of participants in the contents distribution value chain. Copyright protection must ensure that participants in the distribution channel get the royalties due to them and that purchasers use the contents according to usage rules. It must also prevent illegal draining of digital contents. To design a contents distribution framework satisfying the above requirements, we first present four digital contents distribution models. On the basis of the suggested distribution models, we designed a contract system for distribution of royalties among participants in the contents distribution channel, a license mechanism for enforcement of contents usage to purchasers, and both a packaging mechanism and a secure client system for prevention of illegal draining of digital contents.

  • Grid computing environment can be used to interconnect a wide variety of geographically distributed heterogeneous computing resources based on high-speed network. To make business service, it is necessary for Grid accounting system to measure the computational cost by consuming computer resources. To collect resource consumption data, and to keep track of process without needing to recompile kernel source, we use system call wrapping. By making use of this technique, we modifies system call table and replace existing system call to new system call that can monitor processes running in CPU kernel currently. Therefore we can measure user process resource usage for Grid accounting system.

  • This study aims to understand the overall experiences of students who use notebook computers in class by using a qualitative approach. Interview data were collected from 23 Korean college students at a Korean university, who use notebook computers in their classes; the data were analyzed through the constant comparison method. The results from this study can be categorized into two themes: the positive and negative effects of using a notebook computer in class, and different perspectives on the effects of using a notebook computer in class. The positive effects of notebook computer usage were specified as production of lecture notes, performing searches for information, management of learning materials, and effective time management. However, behaviors such as perusing other works not associated with the class were indicated as negative effects. The participants had different perceptions about the effect of notebook computer usage in increasing academic performance, although they were satisfied in their experience with notebook computers in general. These results imply that appropriate methods of technology usage are needed and that the support of an instructor is essential to achieve fully beneficial use of notebook computers in class.

  • This study analyzed the influences of elementary students' usage of smartphone, computer and TV on academic attitude. Of the subjects residing in the U city to target of 10 elementary schools from the fourth grade to sixth grade, 865 students were sampled. This research made a frequency analysis and reliability analysis of the obtained date using SPSS 21.0 program were used. Research results are as follows. First, in the smartphone, computer and TV usage status of elementary school, smartphone, computer and TV were used the high frequency with which almost every commonly used, was found to be necessary to take advantage of the time to less than one hour a day, mostly alone, it has been found that a lot of online games, videos and SNS. Second, the use of smartphone, computer and TV were showed a significant effect on all sub-variables of open, self-concept, initiative, responsibility, learning enthusiasm, future orientation, creativity, self-assessment.

  • Currently, a new energy system is emerging that implements consumption reduction by improving energy efficiency. Accordingly, as smart grids spread, the rate system by timing is expanding. The rate system by timing is a rate system that applies different rates by season/hour to pay according to usage. In this study, external factors such as temperature/day/time/season are considered and the time series prediction model, LSTM, is used to predict energy power usage data. Based on this energy usage prediction model, energy usage charges are reduced by analyzing usage patterns for each device and transferring power energy from the maximum load time to the light load time. In order to analyze the usage pattern for each device, a clustering technique is used to learn and classify the usage pattern of the device by time. In summary, this study predicts usage and usage fees based on the user's power data usage, analyzes usage patterns by device, and provides customized demand transfer services based on analysis, resulting in cost reduction for users.

  • With the increasing popularity of social network services (SNSs), there have been many attempts to analyze the users of SNSs. By doing so, the characteristics and preferences of the users can be understood, which can help companies provide personalized information and services that they need or are relevant for them. This study aimed to analyze the usage behavior of Korean Twitter users from various perspectives to deepen the understanding of it. For this research goal, an online survey was conducted for the users of Twitter and the data about their actual usage were collected using the open API of Twitter. Factor analysis of the data revealed five factors that explain about 69.3% of the usage variables. It was also investigated how the factors are related to gender, age, and brand preferences. The results showed that the usage behavior of Twitter is largely affected by age (p<0.001), and also by gender through an interaction effect (p<0.05). Also, the factors showed significant statistical correlations with the brand preferences of the users.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate patterns of IT usage in gifted elementary students. There were 67 Computer Science gifted students and 38 Math/Science gifted students, a total of 105 students, who attended a Convergence Computer Science Camp for 3 days. They were given 20 questions on IT usage. The results showed that these gifted students started to use the computer from ages 7 to 9 (51.9%) and consider their level of usage as average (50.0%). They also expressed a desire to learn more to enhance learning. There were some differences between the Computer Science gifted students and Math/Science gifted students. The Computer Science gifted students spent more time at the computer, considered themselves as more capable in using the computer, and thought that the computer aided in learning more, Another difference is that Computer Science gifted students utilized the computer more for education and learning purposes(56.9%), whereas Math/Science gifted students used it for recreation purposes (40.5%). Furthermore, regarding areas of further interest, most Computer Science gifted students wanted to learn more about computer programming whereas Math/Science gifted students were more interested in learning presentation methods (26.3%). In conclusion, there was a difference between Computer Science gifted students and Math/Science gifted students in self-confidence, areas of utilization and computer related areas.
