  • In model-based tracking, an accurate 3D model of a target object or scene is mostly assumed to be known or given in advance, but the accuracy of the model should be guaranteed for accurate pose estimation. In many application domains, on the other hand, end users are not highly distracted by tracking errors from certain levels of modeling errors. In this paper, we examine perceptual tracking errors, which are predominantly caused by modeling errors, on subjective evaluation and compare them to computational tracking errors. We also discuss the tolerance of modeling errors by analyzing their permissible ranges.

  • This study presents states-of-the art overview of the system level electrostatic discharge (ESD) analysis and testing. After brief description of ESD compliance standards and ESD coupling mechanisms, the study provides an in-depth review and comparison of the various techniques for the system level ESD coupling analysis using time and frequency domain techniques, full wave electromagnetic modeling and hybrid modeling. The methods used for improving system level ESD testing using troubleshooting and determining the root causes of soft failures, the optimization of ESD testing and the countermeasures to mitigate ESD problems are also discussed.

  • IoT devices are interconnected in global network with different functionalities and manage the data transfer in cloud computing. IoT devices can be used anytime, anywhere with any device with different applications and protocols. Same devices but different applications according to end user requirements such as sensors and Wi-Fi devices, reusability of these applications can enhance the development process. However, large number of variations in cloud computing make it difficult the features selection in application because of compatibility issues of devices. In this paper we have proposed multi-Software Product Lines (multi-SPLs) approach to manage the variabilities and commonalities of IoT applications and protocols. Feature modeling is used to manage the commonalities and variabilities of SPL. We proposed that multi-SPLs feature model is more appropriate for modeling of IoT applications and protocols.

  • This paper presents an advanced modeling and simulation technique applied to DC/DC power electronic converters fed through renewable energy power sources. The distributed generation (DG) system at the Illinois Institute of Technology, which employs a phase-l system consisting of a photovoltaic-based power system and a phase-2 system consisting of a fuel cell based primary power source, is studied. The modeling and simulation of the DG system is done using the generalized state space averaging (GSSA) method. Furthermore, the paper compares the results achieved upon simulation of the specific GSSA models with those of popular computer aided design software simulations performed on the same system. Finally, the GSSA and CAD software simulation results are accompanied with test results achieved via experimentation on both, the PV-based phase-l system and the fuel cell based phase-2 power system.

  • The model-based evolutionary algorithms are divided into three groups: estimation of distribution algorithms, inverse modeling, and surrogate modeling. Existing inverse modeling is mainly applied to solve multi-objective optimization problems and is not suitable for many-objective optimization problems. Some inversed-model techniques, such as the inversed-model of multi-objective evolutionary algorithm, constructed from the Pareto front (PF) to the Pareto solution on nondominated solutions using a random grouping method and Gaussian process, were introduced. However, some of the most efficient inverse models might be eliminated during this procedure. Also, there are challenges, such as the presence of many local PFs and developing poor solutions when the population has no evident regularity. This paper proposes inverse modeling using random forest regression and uniform reference points that map all nondominated solutions from the objective space to the decision space to solve many-objective optimization problems. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using the benchmark test suite for evolutionary algorithms. The results show an improvement in diversity and convergence performance (quality indicators).

  • The 3rd generation mobile telecommunication fields are being standardized and developed in two parts, 3GPP and 3GPP2. These two parts have established each Network Architecture Models to achieve the goals basically required in the 3rd generation and to make it progress to IP network in the future. To achieve these goals many system architectures are proposed. Not only functional aspects but also performance aspects are considered as major factors. This paper proposes a new method of performance evaluation modeling and simulation that improved the existing way. The method proposed in this paper is Aspect oriented logical performance analysis Modeling and Simulation method. This proposed method is expected to improve efficiency of performance analysis modeling and simulation on the 3rd generation mobile telecommunication system.

  • It has not been studied about modeling methods for SVG documents to represent animation in the web that has been recently increased in interest. In this paper, I propose component modeling for SVG documents by CBD methodology. First, I propose conceptual modeling by UML class diagrams for converting SVG document into component diagram. And then, I propose rules to convert the UML class diagram into component diagram. Thus, main contribution of this paper is that it can generate a component diagram for a SVG document using Component-Based Development methodology.
