Perspectives and Challenges of Informatics Education: Suggestions for the Informatics Curriculum Revision (정보교육의 전망과 과제: 미래 정보과 교육과정 개발 방향)

  • As the emphasis on software education in the 2015 revised curriculum, Informatics has become one of the essential subjects for the middle school students, and contents and achievement standards have been developed focusing on the information culture literacy, computational thinking, and collaborative problem solving ability. The 2015 revised Informatics curriculum for the first grade of middle school has been applied for the first time in 2018. Various educational policies have been promoted such as training of teachers, development of teaching and learning materials and programs to support implementation of the actual school fields. In this study, we analyzed the improvement issues and tasks of the 2015 revised curriculum according to the change of the Informatics education policy of in the global, and suggested the development direction of the future Informatics curriculum in Korea. The direction of the development of the Informatics curriculum is focused on ensuring the linkage between school level and identity of informatics education.

  • In the knowledge-based society, ICT should take an integral part in K-12 curriculum. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the means to integrate ICT into K-12 curriculum. For the purpose, we reviewed the current national curriculum in light of ICT use. From the review, we identified that the recently revised 7th national curriculum reflected the necessity of using ICT in the view point of knowledge-based society, but it did not include the ICT specifically as a critical element of the curriculum. We discussed the meaning of ICT integrated curriculum, and also the role of ICT as a component of the curriculum. Finally, we suggested the direction of restructuring the curriculum as we consider integrating ICT into it.

  • The Curriculum Determinant Factors of Information Management are identified Manpower Demand Factor, Department Associate Perception Factor, Imitation Factor, Education Demand Factor. The result of This Study proposed that Computer Science Field, IT Field, Internet Field had to Include to Curriculum of Information management. In Addition, The Result of This Study is identified that Curriculum Determinant Factor is related to Composition Factor. Manpower Demand factor Department Associate Perception Factor are important to Curriculum Determinant. And IT Field, Computer Science Field are critical to curriculum of Information Management.

Core Curriculum Contents of Software Education for Preliminary Teacher based on Pedagogical Contents Knowledge (예비교사를 위한 교수내용지식 관점에서의 소프트웨어 교육내용 주요 내용 탐색)

  • The importance of pre-service teachers' curriculum that can run K12 school SW education is raised. However, there is insufficient study on the standard of SW curriculum for pre-service teachers in domestic. In this study, we analyzed domestic and foreign cases based on four kinds of contents knowledge. Domestic cases were found to be concentrated on curriculum contents of education and teaching methods. Through the analysis of cases in domestic and abroad, we presented the content of SW education based on knowledge of teaching contents for preliminary teachers. The main contents are all four areas, and the curriculum contents and the teaching method are emphasized the most, and the SW subject education experts are asked for the feasibility study. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that although the validity and consensus exceeded the standard, the CVR value for the student management field was lower than the standard value.

  • In this study, we analyzed algorithm curriculum in Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, and Estonia. In order to teach 1st - 9th grade students computer algorithm, we suggested the algorithm framework based on the spiral curriculum, which is repeatable and progressive. The framework is divided into 4 areas, which includes understanding, expressing, evaluating, and using algorithms in daily life. Each area has 4 levels which are based on the students grade. We have to offer lectures for about computer OS to student teachers at the National Universities of Education; to develop textbooks and materials about algorithm; and to establish Information Science as a part of the primary school curriculum.

  • 2019학년도 초등학교 5-6학년군에 2015 개정 교육과정이 전면 적용된다. 본 논문에서는 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 실과 검정 교과서 6종 소프트웨어 교육 단원의 외적 체제를 비교 분석하였다. 단원 체제 분석 결과 모든 교과서에 공통적으로 대단원명, 대단원 차례, 중단원명, 본문텍스트, 본문삽화, 용어 설명, 단원 마무리 등이 제시되어 있었다. 단원 구성 분석 결과 소프트웨어 교육 단원은 전체 교과서 분량의 18.8~25%까지 교과서별로 다양한 비율을 차지하고 있었다. 후속 연구로는 본 논문에서 다룬 교과서의 외적 체제 뿐 아니라 내적 체제 까지를 포함하여 각 교과서의 소프트웨어 교육 단원을 전체적인 틀에서 비교 분석 할 것이다.

  • The purpose of this study is to consider how to restructure the university geometry curriculum and contents in terms of applications to theoretical computer science. We analyzed various topics from computer graphics, CAGD(computer aided geometric design) and computational geometry suitable for geometry students interested in applications. Moreover we discussed about selections of topics for several cases.

  • It has been increased the importance of computer education for the knowledge information society. However day by day. But computer education is currently operated with elective subjects in discretion action scope in a middle school. These operation of elective subjects brings a tended to neglect computer course, and inappropriate class number operated from this operation deteriorates reality and efficacy of computer education. Therefore, this paper compared and analyzed various operation methods of elective subjects that have been currently operated and grasped various problems to appear according to operation methods. When computer subject is operated using results from analyzing these problems, we find the most suitable way and provide sufficient references to operate computer subject in school education.

  • Cyber universities, which were established by the Life Long Education act, face a lot of problems, such as high drop-out rate. One of the major reason of the problems results from lack of curriculum specialization. In fact, cyber universities have been operated curriculum which were similar to the traditional universities or other kinds of lifelong educational institutions. The purpose of the study was to investigate a direction of specialized curriculum among cyber universities. Based on the literature review, curriculum analysis, and the SWOT analysis, I recommended what the particular institution needed to be done to contribute to better education and perform their role successfully.

  • This paper focused on developing the curriculum for elementary children who are gifted in information science as follows. First, this paper dealt the contents of the scientific school attached to universities for gifted children. Second, this paper abstracted educational elements for the gifted children from the research of the information science course in current education. Third, for applying curriculum for the elementary children who are gifted in information science to practical education efficiently, the contents were classified into many steps. Fourth, this paper developed the annual curriculum for the elementary children who are gifted in information science.
