The states of development of remote sensing, GIS and forest management technology are such that new directions in forest surveys and management are possible. The technologies can not be considered separately. With the increasing power and decreasing cost of computer processing and the development of inexpensive mass storage media, digital remote sensing applications are becoming more practical. Powerful microcomputer-based image analysis systems and GIS are important advancements. As well, it is only a matter of time before the integration of remote sensing image analysis systems and GIS becomes transparent to the users. Implementation of operational applications by both centralized agencies and local units is, therefore, becoming practical. This paper discussed the state of remote sensing technology and its application to forest surveys and management. The relative advantages and disadvantages of readily available remote sensing products for regional biodiversity assessment were summarized. Discussion is limited to the sources of up-to-date imagery suitable for regional land use/cover mapping, specifically : LANDSAT MSS and TM, and SPOT.

Thin films synthesized by plasma processes have been widely applied in a variety of industrial sectors. The structure control of thin film is one of prime factor in most of these applications. It is well known that the structure of this film is closely associated with plasma parameters and species of plasma which are electrons, ions, radical and neutrals in plasma processes. However the precise control of structure by plasma process is still limited due to inherent complexity, reproducibility and control problems in practical implementation of plasma processing. Therefore the study on the fundamental physical properties that govern the plasmas becomes more crucial for molecular scale control of film structure and corresponding properties for new generation nano scale film materials development and application. The thin films are formed through nucleation and growth stages during thin film depostion. Such stages involve adsorption, surface diffusion, chemical binding and other atomic processes at surfaces. This requires identification, determination and quantification of the surface activity of the species in the plasma. Specifically, the ions and neutrals have kinetic energies ranging from ~ thermal up to tens of eV, which are generated by electron impact of the polyatomic precursor, gas phase reaction, and interactions with the substrate and reactor walls. The present work highlights these aspects for the controlled and low-temperature plasma enhanced chemical vapour disposition (PECVD) of Si-based films like crystalline Si (c-Si), Si-quantum dot, and sputtered crystalline C by the design and control of radicals, plasmas and the deposition energy. Additionally, there is growing demand on the low-temperature deposition process with low hydrogen content by PECVD. The deposition temperature can be reduced significantly by utilizing alternative plasma concepts to lower the reaction activation energy. Evolution in this area continues and has recently produced solutions by increasing the plasma excitation frequency from radio frequency to ultra high frequency (UHF) and in the range of microwave. In this sense, the necessity of dedicated experimental studies, diagnostics and computer modelling of process plasmas to quantify the effect of the unique chemistry and structure of the growing film by radical and plasma control is realized. Different low-temperature PECVD processes using RF, UHF, and RF/UHF hybrid plasmas along with magnetron sputtering plasmas are investigated using numerous diagnostics and film analysis tools. The broad outlook of this work also outlines some of the 'Grand Scientific Challenges' to which significant contributions from plasma nanoscience-related research can be foreseen.
Surface Image Velocimetry (SIV) is an instrument to measure water surface velocity by using image processing techniques. It gives us one of the easiest ways to measure water velocity. However, since it requires a set of plane survey data to estimate the velocity, it may give us some kind of misconcept that its usage would be difficult or cumbersome in spite of its handiness. If it has a feature that can estimate the plane survey data easily, it may be treated as like one of the conventional propeller velocimetries and its applicability would be improved so high. The present study is to propose a method to estimate the plane geometry of the physical coordinate with a calibrated camera. With the feature we can half-automatize the estimating procedure for the whole water velocity field. Photogrammetric technique to calculate the plane coordinates of the reference points with a calibrated camera was studied, which has originally studied for long time in the field of computer vision. By applying this technique to SIV, it is possible to estimate the location of reference coordinates for projective transform without plane survey. With this procedure the cumbersome plane survey for the reference points is omitted. One example application of the developed method showed fairly good results with insignificant errors.

Recently, researches for user interface are remarkably processed due to the explosive growth of 3-dimensional contents and applications, and the spread class of computer user. This paper proposes a novel method to manipulate windows efficiently using only the intuitive motion of hand. Previous methods have some drawbacks such as burden of expensive device, high complexity of gesture recognition, assistance of additional information using marker, and so on. To improve the defects, we propose a novel visual touchless interface. First, we detect hand region using hue channel in HSV color space to control window using hand. The distance transform method is applied to detect centroid of hand and curvature of hand contour is used to determine position of fingertips. Finally, by using the hand motion information, we recognize hand gesture as one of predefined seven motions. Recognized hand gesture is to be a command to control window. In the proposed method, user can manipulate windows with sense of depth in the real environment because the method adopts stereo camera. Intuitive manipulation is also available because the proposed method supports visual touch for the virtual object, which user want to manipulate, only using simple motions of hand. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed method is verified via an application based on our proposed interface.

Programming education plays a very effective role in comprehensively learning problem analysis ability, logical thinking ability, procedural problem solving method, and imaginary problem solving method. Until recently, however, it is not applied to the elementary and the middle school in Korea, which is very different from the other IT centerd countries such as the U.S., etc., where coding class is actively implemented. Fortunately, Korean government recognized this reality and decided to implement programming education as a regular subject in the elementary school from 2017. In this situation, many researchers' programming education model research is urgently required for the students to learn in the elementary and the middle school. This research developed and suggested 17 sessions of programing education model connected with scratch language and sensor board, which is hardware, to be applied to the class of the 5th and 6th graders. As the result of implementing the joint class of 5th and 6th graders during the after-school class based on programming education process suggested to verify the suitability for elementary school programing education, satisfactory achievement was attained by the assessed students. The researcher plans to develop an optimum model proper for the elementary school students' intellectual capacity by more improving programming education model.

For this, 410 development topics and contents were selected based on the analysis of contents related to mathematics and science, the pre-investigation and analysis of mathematics and science teachers in agricultural, mountain and fishing villages and the analysis of the 2009 revised curriculum. The validity verification of the selected subject list and implementation plan was implemented through the reviews by experts in each subject and the storyboard was designed by reflecting the examination opinion after the final revision. Development directions of the contents were set after analyzing the application result of contents from classroom for creativity and science and selected schools in agricultural, mountain and fishing villages for demonstration, and opened the platform after the revision and supplement of the expert. It is expected to elevate students' self-directed learning abilities in agricultural, mountain and fishing villages by developing and extending smart learning contents to use ICT in Mathematics and science education, which are high in urbanrural academic disparity.
YBCO film was synthesized by using a new approach to the TFA-MOD method. In the fabrication process, $Y_2Ba_1Cu_1O_x\;and\;Ba_3Cu_5O_8$ powders were used as precursors (the so called '211 process'), instead of Y-, Ba-, and Cu-based acetates, and dissolved in trifluoroacetic acid followed by calcining and firing heat treatment. Consequently, we successfully fabricated YBCO film and evaluated the phase formation, texture evolution, and critical properties as a function of the calcining and firing temperature and humidity, in order to explore its possible application in coated conductor fabrication. The films were calcined at $430-460^{\circ}C$ and then fired at $750-800^{\circ}C\;in\;a\;0-20\%$ humidified $Ar-O_2$ atmosphere. We observed that $BaF_2$ phase was effectively reduced and that a sharp and strong biaxial texture formed under humidified atmosphere leading to increased critical properties. In addition, we found that the microstructure varied significantly with the firing temperature: the grain grew further, the film became denser, and the degree of texture and phase purity varied as the firing temperature increased. For the film fired at $775^{\circ}C$ after calcining at $460^{\circ}C$, the critical current was obtained to be 39 A/cm-width (corresponding critical current density is $2.0\;MA/cm^2$ which was probably attributed to such factors as the enhanced phase purity and out-of-plane texture, the moderate film density and grain size, and crack-free surface.

To understand the dynamics of radial growth of trees and micro-climate at a site of Korean fir (Abies koreana Wilson) forest on high-altitude area of Mt. Hallasan National Park, Jeju Island, Korea, high precision dendrometers were installed on the stems of Korean fir trees, and the sensors for measuring micro-climate of the forest at 10 minutes interval were also installed at the forest. Data from the sensors were sent to nodes, collected to a gateway wireless, and transmitted to a data server using mobile phone communication system. By analyzing the radial growth data for the trees during the growing season in 2016, we can estimate that the radial growth of Korean fir trees initiated in late April to early May and ceased in late August to early September, which indicates that period for the radial growth was about 4 months in 2016. It is interesting to observe that the daily ambient temperature and the daily soil temperature at the depth of 20 cm coincided with the values of about 10 ℃ when the radial growth of the trees initiated in 2016. When the radial growth ceased, the values of the ambient temperature went down below about 15 ℃ and 16 ℃, respectively. While the ambient temperature and the soil temperature are evaluated to be the good indicators for the initiation and the cessation of radial growth, it becomes clear that radii of tree stems showed diurnal growth patterns affected by diurnal change of ambient temperature. In addition, the wetting and drying of the surface of the tree stems affected by precipitation became the additional factors that affect the expansion and shrinkage of the tree stems at the forest site. While it is interesting to note that the interrelationships among the micro-climatic factors at the forest site were well explained through this study, it should be recognized that the precision monitoring made possible with the application of high resolution sensors in the measurement of the radial increment combined with the observation of 10 minutes interval with aids of information and communication technology in the ecosystem observation.
Under the concept of global economy, the enterprises are assigning design and production environments around the world in different areas. A serious problem of information exchange emerges as companies use traditional hardware and very distinct softwares appropriate to their field of expertise. To overcome the decreased productivity due to the interruption of information, the concept of simultaneous engineering and concurrent design becomes very significant. In this article, an agent-based ship design system is developed in order to support a cooperation in distributed ship design environments. Above all, the conflicts that occur in the middle of knowledge sharing in the system must be resolved. An approach to do this is the case-based conflict resolution strategy formulated to resolve current conflict on the basis of previous resolved similar cases in agent-based collaborative design system environments. To do this conflict cases that occur in initial ship design stage are extracted. On the basis of the extracted cases, case-base is constructed. In addition conflict resolution handler located in the facilitator is developed to treat conflict problems effectively by reasoning of the case-base and thus presenting an appropriate solution. The validation of developed case-based conflict resolution strategy is evaluated by applying to collaborative design process in initial ship design stage, especially the machinery outfitting design, the preliminary design, the hullform design, and the structural design. Through the help of the cooperation of the design agents, the facilitator, the conflict resolution handler, and the case-based system, a designer can be supported effectively in his/her decision-making based on the previous cases resolved similarly.
In this paper, we studied possibility about application for CAD on diffuse liver disease through pixel texture analysis parameters(average gray level, skewness, entropy) which based statistical property brightness histogram and image analysis using brightness difference liver and kidney parenchyma. The experiment was set by ROI ($50{\times}50$ pixels) on liver ultrasound images.(non specific, fatty liver, liver cirrhosis) then, evaluated disease recognition rates using 4 types pixel texture analysis parameters and brightness gap liver and kidney parenchyma. As a results, disease recognition rates which contained average brightness, skewness, uniformity, entropy was scored 100%~96%, they were high. In brightness gap between liver and kidney parenchyma, non specific was $-1.129{\pm}12.410$ fatty liver was $33.182{\pm}11.826$, these were shown significantly difference, but liver cirrhosis was $-1.668{\pm}10.081$, that was somewhat small difference with non specific case. Consequently, pixel texture analysis parameter which scored high disease recognition rates and CAD which used brightness difference of parenchyma are very useful for detecting diffuse liver disease as well as these are possible to use clinical technique and minimize reading miss. Also, it helps to suggest correct diagnose and treatment.
