Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the meaning and contents of high-quality aged care facilities and provide basic data for evaluation of service quality in such facilities. Methods: The focus group interviews and participants consisted of two user groups, for a total of 16 family caregivers of the elderly living in facilities and four service provider groups, for a total of 26 chief managers and caregivers working in aged care facilities. All interviews were recorded and transcribed as they occurred. Content analysis was used and debriefing notes were referred to in order to analyze the data. Results: Four themes of a high-quality aged care facility emerged from the analysis; 1) a place to rest for comfortable later years; 2) systematic value-based management; 3) providing professional care; 4) comprehensive service provision in response to diverse needs. Conclusion: The findings of the study showed the importance of client centered care and ethical mindset of providers, which had not been included in the existing quality evaluation programs. Based on these results, medical treatments, end-of-life care and more comprehensive and extended services including family care need to be provided in facilities to ensure good quality aged care.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of nursing emotional labor, role conflict, and reciprocity on turnover intention in comprehensive nursing care wards nurses. 209 nurses working in comprehensive nursing care wards across 13 hospitals in G and M city participated in this study. Data were analyzed descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. As a result, the research model explained 52.9%(F=14.458, p<.001) of intention to turnover. The most significant factor affecting turnover intention was emotional labor(β=.311), followed by reciprocity and role conflict. Therefore, it is necessary to devices and guidelines to protect nurses who encounter various situations in the process of emotional labor, and to implement a human resource management system that can maintain friendly and equal relationships.

The purpose of this study is to compare with work satisfaction, job stress and turnover intention of nurses who work in Comprehensive nursing care service ward, Anshim unit and general ward. The subjects are nurses of general ward, Anshim unit, Comprehensive nursing care service ward from two hospitals in Seoul and one hospital located in Gyeongi province. The summary of the research is as follows. Nurses in a general ward, a Comprehensive nursing care service ward and an Anshim unit don't have meaningful difference in job satisfaction(F=0.50, p=.602), job stress(F=1.12, p=.326), turnover intention.(F=0.02, p=.972). There were some statistic differences of Work satisfaction, job stress and turnover intention according to general characteristics. Henceforth it needs diverse consideration on these factors to reduce turnover intention of nurses.
The goal of modern nursing is to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients. If comprehensive nursing care to children (within the hospital setting) is to be provided, consideration of the stage of growth and development of the child is especially important. From clinical observation, it appeared that nurses often disregarded individual requirements of children in giving nursing care. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to show that comprehensive nursing care which is based on an understanding of the growth and development of the child contributes to both the child and the mother's adaptability to the child's hospitalization. Method: Sixty children, three to three year of age, hospitalized at the Yonsei University Pediatric Ward ware studied. From April 1, 1973 to May 5, 1973, children admitted to the hospital were assigned to either an experimental or a compare groups. There were 30 children in each group. The sex and age of the children in each group was similar. In both groups were more male than female children. In the experimental group, each mother stayed with hot child continuously during his hospitalization. In the compare groups, the mother or some other member of the family stayed with the child. Each day on the child's admission the investigator visited the ward from 1-2 P.M. to 9-10 P.M., in order to provide comprehensive care for the experimental -group. The assistance given the nurses by the investigator was in the form of conferences regarding care and in giving direct care to the child and his mother. The compare group of children received nursing care as usually provided by the hospital. The instruments used to obtain the data for analysis were as follows: 1. The fear and anxiety reaction of the child was recorded by observation of the investigator for four areas: 1) separation from parent and relatives 2) reaction to Doctor and Nurse with white gowns 3) reaction to nursing care 4) reaction to injection and tests, etc. 2. Regression in area of eating, sleeping, and elimination were recorded by the investigator by questioning the mother and by observation. 3. Adaptability to the hospitalization was recorded by direct questioning of the children for areas of emotional and social adjustment. For children older than 3 years of age or children not seriously ill, using the simple I. Q. test this was possible for only 35 of the total 60 children. Result: 1. 55 percents of the total 60 children had been prepared by their parents for hospitalization. The children who had received prior preparation accepted hospitalization more readily than those who had received no preparation. (χ²=4.6 Ρ<0.05) 2. On admission 31.7 percent of the children expressed verbal fear of their discase or treatment. 25 percent felt that the disease was due to their mistake. 3. There was a significant difference in the reaction of the child to separation from the parent or relatives between the two groups. The experimental groups showed less anxiety due to separation than the compare group. (χ²=4.34 Ρ<0.05) In both groups there was less anxiety due to separation among school age (6-12 years) children than among preschool age (3-5 years) children. (χ²=9.22 Ρ<0.05) 4. More than half of the children in both groups reacted with fear and avoidance to doctor and/or nurses wearing white gowns. (χ²=0.06 Ρ<0.05) 5. The experimental group reacted more favorably to nursing in general than the compare group. (χ²=4.8 Ρ<0.05) 6. There was no difference in the fear and refused reaction to special tests and/or such as X-rays and injections, etc. between the groups. (χ²=3.77 Ρ<0.05) 7. More children in the compare group showed regressive tendencies in eating, sleeping, and elimination habits than in experimental groups. (χ²=2.3 Ρ<0.05 χ²=3.88 Ρ<0.05 χ²=4.9 Ρ<0.05) 8. There was a significant difference in the adaptability to hospitalization between the two groups. The experimental groups adapted more readily. (χ²=2.02 Ρ<0.05) 9. For children who had higher I.Q. s the adaptability to hospitalization was better regardless of the group. (χ²=5.03 Ρ<0.05) However, because of the small number of cases (60), this finding cannot be extrapolated without further verification. The date demonstrates that there was a greater adaptability to hospitalization by the child when comprehensive nursing care was given. By planning care and applying knowledge of growth and development to meet, nurses are in a position to prevent some of the psychological trauma associated with hospitalization.
Purpose: In Korea, about 30,000 people die in intensive care units annually. However, their quality of life at the end-of-life seems very low. The purpose of this study was to describe palliative care models that could be applied in intensive care units and examine nurses' roles in the models. Methods: A conventional literature review was performed focusing on palliative care in intensive care units and nursing roles in the approaches identified. Results: There are two different models regarding the implementation of palliative care approaches in the intensive care unit. Those are the consultative model and the integrative model. Each model has advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, an appropriate model must be chosen according to the setting. Nurses' roles could vary depending on the setting. Conclusion: Palliative care in the intensive care unit is important to improve patients' quality of life. Moreover, nursing roles are important in providing comprehensive palliative care in intensive care units.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for effective human resource management by clarifying the relationship among ward operation support system of ward nurse, nursing performance, job satisfaction, burnout and turnover intention. The subjects of this study were 137 nurses working at comprehensive nursing care service wards of less than 500 beds in B and C city. Data were collected using structured questionnaires, and analysis was conducted using SPSS/WIN 21.0 and AMOS 18.0 programs. As a result of the path analysis, variables directly affecting the turnover intention of nurses working at the comprehensive nursing care service wards are ward operation support system and burnout, and indirect influences are nursing performance and job satisfaction. Burnout has the most direct effect on turnover intention, which is directly influenced by job satisfaction and nursing performance. Ward operation support system was confirmed to have a direct effect on job satisfaction. Therefore, in order to reduce the turnover intention of nurses working at the comprehensive nursing care service wards, strengthening ward operation support system in order to improve job satisfaction and measures to reduce the burnout and burden of nursing performance are needed.
Psycho-social-spiritual care should be included with comprehensive nursing care of cancer patient. Because of human being have four dimensions as physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimension and they do interactional relationship with themselves, others and God. So caregivers of cancer patient have to recognize what they have psycho-social-spiritual needs and have to consider how caregivers can combine these in comprehensive nursing care. Cancer patient will be experienced shock, feeling of crisis and fear of death and will be showed denial, anger, bargaining, depression, accept or give-up, hope, spiritual distress and spiritual needs to which help them to do some rituals or interactions according their religion. Loving attitude is essential of cancer patient care especially of psycho-social-spiritual care. Dr. Kim and her some colleques investigated about this and find out 10 concepts(Caring Behaviors) by Graunded Theory Methodology. They are Noticing, Participating, Sharing, Active Listening, Complimenting, Companioning, Comforting, Hoping, Forgiving, Accepting.
Objectives; The purpose of this study was to develop a framework for home care and a Home Care Need Assessment Tool. Method 1. Identifying common domains in the provision of home care. 2. Charts of 253 home care clients were reviewed to obtain a classification of the nursing diagnoses. 3. A focus group methodology was used to develop the domains. 4. The tool was applied to 439 home care clients.(Kappa value=0.460-1.000, sensitivity, 0.444-1.000: specificity, 0.743-1.000). 5. Some refinements and extractions of the defining characteristics and related factors were made based on the results of the focus group. Results Home Care Need Assessment Tool consists of three parts; -Part I : factors related to basic conditions -Part II : a screening component that enables home care nurses to assess 30 multiple domains of 53 nursing diagnoses. -Part III : summative nursing diagnoses and nursing need intensity for the clients. Conclusion This tool provides a comprehensive assessment that helps the recognition of many strengths as well as problems of the clients. It will be usefully utilized in scheduling home care nursing plans and evaluating client outcomes.
The purpose of this study is to verify the current states of the comprehensive nursing care services and nursing professionalism the role conflicts and job stresses experienced by the nurses, to investigate the influences affecting the nursing professionalism. The subjects were 174 nurses, the role conflict, job stress, and nursing professionalism have a significant correlation with each other. Data were analyzed by t-test, correlation, regression analysis using SPSS WIN 23.0 program. The result showed that the correlation between nursing professionalism was significant in role conflict(r=-.186, p=.014) and job stress(r=-.389, p<.001). In addition, factors affecting nursing professionalism were in order of role conflict and job stress(F=23.810, p<.001), and explanatory power was 11.8%.

Purpose: This study was conducted to develop the nursing process based performance measurement tool and the evidence based care standards for nursing care in medication management and blood transfusion. Methods: The care standards and performance measurement tool were drafted through comprehensive review of relevant literature, national guidelines, hospital protocols, and standards of recognized international accrediting bodies. The proposed care standards and performance measurement tool were reviewed by the panel of experts and refined based on the panel's suggestions. Final care standards and performance measurement tool were validated by surveying the hospital nurses. Results: All items of the performance measurement tool for medication management and blood transfusion were evaluated appropriate. All contents of care standards and the measurable elements except the evaluation of discharge education were appropriate. The performance measurement tool developed in this study was found to be acceptable as a tool to evaluate quality of nursing care in medication management and blood transfusion. Conclusion: The outcomes of this study including the performance measurement tool and evidence based care standards would be the important indicators to monitor whether necessary nursing care is implemented and be the useful primary resources to improve quality of nursing care services.
