  • The major limitation of the traditional Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) is that interface is mainly focused on the cognitive factors. However, the new direction of ITS is shifting form the cognitive perspectives to the motivational perspectives reflecting the individual differences. In this study, the specific design guidelines for motivational interface of ITS are proposed to promote learner's motivation to learn during the interaction with the ITS. First, ITS should be able to reflect individual differences in cognitive abilities, interest and motivation, and ongoing changes of the interestingness and comprehensibility during learning activities. Second, it is essential for ITS to guarantee learner controllability, diverse learning activities, curiosity, self-relevance, and challenge to enhance the level of motivation and situational interest. Third, the game-like properties are also needed to maximize the motivational effect of learning with ITS.

Subjective Correspondence among Visual Variables, Auditory Variables and Duration of Vibratory stimulus Using Remote Controller

  • Subjective correspondence among visual variables, auditory variables and vibratory feedback to a hand was experimentally examined to improve usability of a remote controller. First, we studied the correspondence among visual variables represented on a screen or auditory variables and the duration of vibratory stimulus to the subjects' hand by subjective evaluation. Subjective rating method was used in ten items; suitability, comprehensibility, ease-to-use, naturalness, variety, activity, usualness, interest, wish-to-use and feeling of pleasure. Second, to show the effects of multi-modal interface using visual sense, the sense of auditory and vibratory sense, we combined positive stereotype of visual variables and auditory variables provided with the first experiment. The results showed some stereotype between visual variables or auditory variables and duration of vibratory stimulus. Some of the variables such as size, direction of motion, hue, brightness of color and volume of sound had high correspondence with the duration of vibration.

노인 인구에 있어 환자용 의약품 안전사용 설명서의 활용성 평가 (Performance-based User Testing of a Patient Drug Leaflet in the Elderly)

  • Objective: This study aimed to explore the readability and comprehensibility of the drug information on a patient leaflet for the senior by employing performance-based user-testing. Methods: We included 36 elderly (65 years old or older) as the senior group (intervention group) and 36 adults (40~59 years old) as the adult group (control). We developed a questionnaire to test if participants could access to drug information. After completing a questionnaire, the participant was interviewed about their understanding over the patient leaflet. We performed t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test or Fisher's exact test to examine differences between two groups in primary outcomes. Results: The senior were less likely able to find information (78%) than the adult (91%); they were much less likely able to understand information (42%) than the adult (69%). While we found differences between the ability of finding and understanding drug information in both groups, the senior group had greater difficulties in understanding all kinds of drug information. They had significant difficulties to remember information after reading the patient leaflet and frequently failed to find proper information even though they were allowed to access freely to the leaflet during interviewing. Conclusion: To secure safe and effective use of drugs for the senior, it is necessary to develop drug leaflets for the senior.

Clark의 통합교육모형(IEM)을 적용한 과학 수업이 초등과학영재반의 학업 성취도와 과학적 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Science Instruction using Integrative Educational Model(IEM) in Elementary Science Gifted Classes on Academic Achievement and Scientific Attitude)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science instruction using integrative educational model on academic achievement and scientific attitude in gifted classes on elementary science. Integrative educational model (hereafter referred as IEM) was developed by synthesizing the findings from brain research, the new physics, general systems theory, and educational psychology. 77 6th graders of B Metropolitan City's Elementary Gifted Education Center were took part in this study. The experimental group, consisting of 39 students, was applied to the instruction using IEM, while the comparison group, 38 students, was applied to instructor- led instruction. The results of this study were as follows: First, the science instruction using IEM had a positive effect on improving achievement in gifted classes on elementary science. Second, the science instruction using IEM had an influence on inquisitiveness and openness of the lower domains of learners' scientific attitude. Third, the science instruction using IEM had a positive response to learners' interest, comprehensibility about lesson contents, and ability to concentrate on classes.

컨버전스 제품의 인식 및 평가에 대한 실증적 연구 : 결합 개념 이론을 중심으로 (Empirical Studies on the Conceptual Combination of Digital Convergence Products)

  • A wide variety of convergent digital products are emerging through the combination of multiple independent digital technologies. Digital convergence provides new revenue sources for businesses and new ways of satisfying individual needs of consumers. Despite its business and consumer implications, little research has addressed how people perceive or evaluate convergent products. This study aims at understanding how consumers interpret and evaluate convergent digital products by conducting two consecutive studies. Firstly, a survey was conducted to understand how people interpret convergent products in three ways suggested by the conceptual combination theory based in cognitive science. Secondly, an experiment was conducted to investigate the impact of combination strategies and product similarities on user evaluation of convergent products. Study results indicate that similarity of constituent products has a substantial effect on the interpretation of concept combination strategies. Moreover, combination strategy and product similarity were found to have substantial effects on user comprehension, perceived newness, and preferences for convergent products. This paper ends with an examination of the implications and limitations of the study results.

  • 최근 여러 지역에서 발생되는 지하철 참사 및 대형화재 또는 대형 지하상가, 백화점, 지하공간, 대형쇼핑센터, 숙박업소, 공공건물등 대형 다중이용시설등에서 발생될 수 있는 예측 불가능한 인재, 천재지변에 안전하게 대피하기 위한 수단으로 비상등 및 여러 감지기들이 소방법 개정으로 의무설치 하고 있다. 현재 많이 사용되는 휴대용 비상등 및 감지기는 방음벽이나 격벽, 경고 거리의 제한으로 인해 비상시 경고 전파에 많은 어려움을 갖는다. 본 연구에서는 화재 감지/경고 시스템에 최근 다양하게 활용되는 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크를 적용하여 화재 감지 및 가스누출을 조기 감지 및 경고하고 휴대용 조명등의 위치를 대피자들에게 알림으로써 신속히 대피할 수 있도록 하는 무선 화재 감지/경고 시스템을 제안하고자 한다.

퍼지 결정 트리를 이용한 효율적인 퍼지 규칙 생성 (Efficient Fuzzy Rule Generation Using Fuzzy Decision Tree)

  • 데이터 마이닝의 목적은 유용한 패턴을 찾음으로써 데이터를 이해하는데 있으므로, 찾아진 패턴은 정확할뿐 아니라 이해하기 쉬워야한다. 따라서 정확하고 이해하기 쉬운 패턴을 추출하는 데이터 마이닝에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 퍼지 결정 트리를 이용한 효과적인 데이터 마이닝 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 ID3, C4.5와 같은 결정 트리 알고리즘의 이해하기 쉬운 장점과 퍼지의 표현력을 결합하여 간결하고 이해하기 쉬운 규칙을 생성한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 히스토그램에 기반하여 퍼지 소속함수를 생성하는 단계와 생성된 소속 함수를 이용하여 퍼지 결정 트리를 구성하는 두 단계로 이루어진다. 또한 제안된 방법의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 표준적인 패턴 분류 벤치마크 데이터인 Iris 데이터와 Wisconsin Breast Cancer 데이터에 대한 실험 결과를 보인다.

예비 초등교사의 테크놀로지 교수학적 내용지식을 향상하기 위한 프로그램의 개발 및 적용 (Designing and Implementing Integrated Lessons for Pre-service Elementary Teachers' Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge Development)

  • Teaching with technology has been widespread in practical classroom settings, and increased the needs to enhance pre-service teachers' capability with a variety of technologies. The purpose of this study is focused on designing and implementing a training program to develop pre-service teachers' Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge(TPACK) which promotes them use technologies tactically in integrated science classes. Based on the theoretical framework of TPACK and Practitioner's Guide to TPACK, the authors developed ten periods of lessons comprised instructional skills in elementary science education. Subsequently, the program was applied into a teacher trainee course in Korea. The results of this study indicate that the TPACK training program for pre-service teachers significantly influenced on attitude toward convergence, TPACK, and science teaching efficacy of the engaged participants. The developed program, meanwhile, caused a significant TPACK improvement of female participants of the teachers college more effectively. Furthermore, it mitigated the gap between science and humanity tracks coming from their high schools. Consequently, there are possibilities to improve pre-service teachers' teaching strategies for integrated classes, if they have opportunities to review the comprehensibility of technological, pedagogical, content knowledge, and intersected areas with metacognitive perspectives.

시나리오 기반 언어 학습에서 퍼지논리 적용에 관한 연구 (Application of Fuzzy Logic in Scenario Based Language, Learning)

  • 시나리오 기반 학습과 관련하여 학습 관련 효과에 관한 많은 연구들이 집중되고 있다. 그렇지만, 이와 관련하여 바람직한 효과 측정 방법이 제시되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 시나리오 학습과 관련하여 보다 바람직한 학습 효과 측정을 위해 하나의 퍼지 논리 기반 프레임워크를 제안하는데 있다. 이러한 프레임워크의 사용은 학습 효과의 측정에 있어서 언어적인 불확실성 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 시나리오 기반 학습의 효과 측정을 위해 정확성, 이해성, 완비성의 3가지 불확실성 측도를 사용한다. 이러한 측도의 사용은 시나리오 맥락 측면에서 완전성뿐만 아니라 사용자 선택에 따른 효과 차이를 최소화시킬 수 있는 강점을 가진다. 다른 무엇보다도 시나리오 기반의 학습에 퍼지 논리의 적용은 실제 학습 상황에서 학습 목표 도달을 위한 학습 경로 진행 상황을 쉽게 관측할 수 있다.

삼킴장애 위험 지역사회 재가노인들의 흡인성 폐렴 예방을 위한 자가간호 측정도구 개발 (Development and Validation of the Self-Care for Aspiration Pneumonia Prevention Scale in the Community Dwelling Elderly with Risk of Dysphasia)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a Korean version of the Self-Care for Aspiration Pneumonia Prevention (SCAPP-K) scale in older adults at risk of dysphasia. Methods: The Hertz and Baas model of scale development and validation was used. In the development stage, items were generated via literature review and interviews with medical experts, older adults, and caregivers. Ten experts assessed the items for content validity. Subsequently, 12 older adults participated in a pilot test to determine the comprehensibility and appropriateness of the SCAPP-K scale. The validation stage involved a cross-sectional survey with 203 older adults for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and 200 older adults for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and to determine convergent and discriminant validity. To test the validity and reliability of the scale, EFA using principal component analysis with varimax rotation and CFA were conducted, and convergent and discriminant validity as well as internal consistency reliability were determined. Results: As a result of EFA, three self-care factors (knowledge, resources, behaviors) with 21 items were validated. The CFA and convergent and discriminant validity indicated the applicability of the three-factor self-care scale. The reliability of the SCAPP-K scale was acceptable, with Cronbach's α=.87~.91. Conclusion: The SCAPP-K scale has acceptable validity and reliability and can contribute to clinical practice, research, and education to improve self-care for the prevention of aspiration pneumonia in older adults at risk of dysphasia.
