The concrete bridge decks are usually precast and in-situ assembled with steel girders with post-pouring joint in the construction practice of super-wide steel-concrete composite beam. But the difference of concrete age between the precast slabs and the post-pouring joint has been not yet considered for the long-term performance analysis of this kind composite beam. A simply supported precast-assembled T-shaped beam was taken as an example to analyze the long-term performance of steel-concrete composite beam with post-pouring joint. Based on the deformation coordination conditions of the old-new concrete deck and steel girder, a theoretical model for the long-term behavior of precast-assembled composite beam is proposed in this paper according to age-adjusted effective modulus method. Then, the feasibility of the proposed model is verified by the available test data from the Gilbert's composite beams. Parametric studies were preformed to evaluate the influences of the cross-sectional area ratio of the post-pouring joint to the whole bridge deck, as well as the difference of concrete age between the precast slabs and the post-pouring joint, on the long-term performance of the composite beam. The results indicate that the traditional method without considering the age difference would seriously underestimate the effect of creep and shrinkage of concrete bridge decks. The concrete age difference between the precast slabs and the post-pouring joint should be demonstrated for the life cycle design and long-term performance analysis of precast-assembled steel-concrete composite beams.

In order to strengthen the reinforced concrete T-beams having insufficient shear strength, several strengthening techniques are available in the literature. In this study, three different strengthening strategies were numerically studied. First one is affixing steel plates to the beam surfaces. Second one includes tightening external steel bars vertically similar to beam stirrups. The last one is simultaneous application of these two strengthening procedures which is particularly proposed in this work. Available experimental test series in the literature were handled in the study. Finite element (FE) models of reinforced concrete beam specimens having sufficient (Beam-1) and low shear capacity (Beam-2) were created within ABAQUS environment. Strengthened beams with different techniques were also modelled to reflect improved shear capacity. FE simulations made it possible to investigate parameters that were not examined during the previous experimental studies. The results of the analyses were then compared and found consistent with the experimentally obtained data. Experimental and FEM analysis results are in agreement between 1% (closest) and 6%. (maximum). Beam-2 was stregthened with 5 new porposed methods. The rate of increase in shear strength varies between 33% and 64%. It was found that, the strengthening techniques were fairly useful in improving the shear capacity of the considered girder. The model with the proposed strengthening alternative has accomplished a higher load carrying capacity, ductility and stiffness than all of the other models.
This study aims to determine the applicability of the previously published T-type modular profile beam in the manner of producing specimens designed specially for the said purpose, determining their bending and shear behaviors depending on the presence of shear reinforcement, and analyzing the results in comparison with the theoretical equation of plastic deformation. The modular profile beam contributes to bending and shear resistance with the addition of the profile to the form function, and enhances the molding performance through the modular concept. The experimental results showed that the TS series specimens with shear reinforcement have bending behaviors superior to those of the T series specimens without shear reinforcement, which suggests that the used shear reinforcement appropriately bears the shear force. However, it was considered that all the specimens except for the T1-1 specimen failed to have adequate bending performance because of the intermodular slipping caused by the shear failure of the bolts. It is expected that further studies on the T-type modular profile beam, in which shear connectors will be considered as a variable,be performed to develop optimal intermodular connection methods.
The objective of this study is to devise an alternative strengthening method to the ones available in the literature. So, external steel members were used to enhance both flexural and shear capacities of reinforced concrete (RC) beams having insufficient shear capacity. Two types of RC beams, one without stirrups and one with lacking stirrups, were prepared in the study. These beams were strengthened with external steel clamps devised by the authors and with external longitudinal reinforcements. Although the use of clamps alone didn't have a significant effect on the load carrying capacity of the tested beams, the ductility increased approximately tenfold and the failure behavior changed from brittle to ductile. Although the use of clamps and longitudinal reinforcements together did not significantly increase the ductility of the beams, it approximately doubled their load capacities. The results of the experimental study were compared to the ones obtained from nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) and it was observed that they were compatible. Finally, it can be concluded that the devised method could be applied to structural members as an alternative to methods in application due to lightness, low-cost, easy applicable and reliable.
Presented are experimental results from 24 full-scale push test specimens to study the behaviour of composite beams with trapezoidal profiled sheeting laid transverse to the beam axis. The tests use a single-sided horizontal push test setup and are divided into two series. First series contained shear loading only and the second had normal load besides shear load. Four parameters are studied: the effect of wire mesh position and number of its layers, placing a reinforcing bar at the bottom flange of the deck, normal load and its position, and shear stud layout. The results indicate that positioning mesh on top of the deck flange or 30 mm from top of the concrete slab does not affect the stud's strength and ductility. Thus, existing industry practice of locating the mesh at a nominal cover from top of the concrete slab and Eurocode 4 requirement of placing mesh 30 mm below the stud's head are both acceptable. Double mesh layer resulted in 17% increase in stud strength for push tests with single stud per rib. Placing a T16 bar at the bottom of the deck rib did not affect shear stud behaviour. The normal load resulted in 40% and 23% increase in stud strength for single and double studs per rib. Use of studs only in the middle three ribs out of five increased the strength by 23% compared to the layout with studs in first four ribs. Eurocode 4 and Johnson and Yuan equations predicted well the stud strength for single stud/rib tests without normal load, with estimations within 10% of the characteristic experimental load. These equations highly under-estimated the stud capacity, by about 40-50%, for tests with normal load. AISC 360-16 generally over-estimated the stud capacity, except for single stud/rib push tests with normal load. Nellinger equations precisely predicted the stud resistance for push tests with normal load, with ratio of experimental over predicted load as 0.99 and coefficient of variation of about 8%. But, Nellinger method over-estimated the stud capacity by about 20% in push tests with single studs without normal load.

In inverted T-shape composite beam examine the structural behavior by experiment According to arrangement, type of stud connector, type of shear connector, reinforcement by welding of stirrup and a close analysis we came to these conclusion. 1) The compare result of bending strength according to arrange type of stud connector : A1-W(stud connector located web)specimen is exceed than A1-F(stud connector located flange). 2) B1-N(using prominence and depression of the web by shear connector) specimen is decrease than A1-W(using stud bolt by shear connector)specimen in bending strength and B2-N(reinforced by welding the stirrup to lower flange)specimen is similar with A2-W specimen. 3) According to reinforced by welding the stirrup to flange, the stiffness and bending strength of the beams are increase. A-scries stirrup comparatively low effective in the increase of strength by welding the stirrup to flange because enough composite effect show by stud connector, but B-series stirrup is comparatively high effective in shear connector effect because shortage of prominence and depression of the web.
In order to promote the practicality of high-rise steel buildings, the development of structural system which have the better fire resistance, the changeable plan, and the quality control of construction with general composite beams is needed. In this research, new semi-slim floor which the defect of general slim floor was complemented was evaluated to investigate the concrete integration with slim-flor beam and the flexural performance. 5 simply supported semi-slim floor beam tests were performed with parameters; structural form of slab support beam, slab thickness, with or without web opening, and shear connection. Experimental results showed that all specimen s had good ductile behavior.
In this study, the deflection and deformation behaviours of IPN80 steel beam and column were investigated under the different industrial loads. Single-sided welds were applied to IPN80 steel beams using shielded metal arc (SMAW) and metal inert gas welding (MIG) method in the form of T-type. After that, the performance of SMAW and MIG welded joints were identified using beam bending test under 500 and 3000 N loads. SMAW and MIG methods were compared with each other to understand the deflection and deformation behaviours of the welded steel structures. Lower deformation and deflection were obtained in MIG welded steel beams. The results show that, steel beams welded MIG method has higher load capacity than SMAW welded ones. MIG welding method is more reliable than the SMAW method for the combining performance and load capacity.
This study attempts to suggest bending reinforcement method by applying bending reinforcement to composite profile beam in which the concept of prefabrication is introduced. Profile use can be in place of framework and is effective in improvement of shear and bending strength and advantageous in long-term deflection. As a result of experiment, MPB-CB2 with improved module had higher strength and ductility than the previously published MPB-CB and MPB-LB. In case of bending reinforcement with deformed bar and built-up T-shape section based on MPB-CB2, the MPB-RB series reinforced with deformed bar were found to have higher initial stiffness, bending strength and ductility than the MPB-RT series. The less reinforcement effect of the MPB-RT series might be caused by poor concrete filling at the bottom of the built-up T-shape. In comparison between theoretical values and experimental values using minimum yield strength, the ratio between experimental value and theoretical value was shown to be 0.9 or higher except for MPB-RB16 and MPB-RT16 that have more reinforcement compared to the section, thus it is deemed that the reinforced modular composite profiled beam is highly applicable on the basis of minimum yield strength.
A stud connector was used by the shear connector of a composite beam. The shear connector is an important element in heightening the composition rate of a composite beam .study was based on the experiments conducted on 15 specimens using the push-out test.In this paper, through an experiment, the shear connector of other forms was analyzed instead of the stud connector. It is hoped that this application can be used in composite beams.
