  • Insulators which are used in the domestic electrical industries are mostly depended on importation from some advance countries. Even though insulators which are made of ceramic material have been mostly used domestically, the ratio of usage on composite insulators is recently being increased because of difficulties in manufacturing and high cost regarding ceramic stuffs. In this research, we are trying to develop the composite insulators which are very efficient in insulation regardless of the matter of weight. Even though the technique of manufacturing composite insulator are quite generalized worldwide at the moment, one of the most important issue is to keep security on the know-how that an ingredient of insulated material named 'SF6 gas' is included. Therefore, The aim of this paper is to improve the bonding force and air tight property between two components of composite insulator, Flange and FRP Tube.

  • Composite hollow insulator consist of an insulating tube bearing the mechanical load protected by an elastomer housing the loads being transmitted to the tube by metal fittings. The core processes are comprised briefly and the electrical and mechanical performance were examined according to the IEC standards. In this study, we have manufactured the composite hollow insulator, and carry out the insulator and busing type test according to the IEC standards. Comprehensive approach followed by the test results would give feasible hollow composite insulator compliable to the IEC standards.

  • Recently composite insulators have been In the spotlight because they have many good characteristics as a outdoor insulator for high voltage. The long term properties in composite insulator depend on shed materials. Silicone rubber out of some candidates of shed material has been obtaining good credit from the long term test in field.

  • Because of its advantages such as more safe better electrical properties, lighter and easier to handle etc. than conventional ceramic materials, the development and application of composite insulator to the distribution and transmission system have been rapidly increased lately. In this paper, we reviewed performance evaluation on composite hollow insulator for extra high voltage based on IEC 61462 Technical Report 2, prospected to be published as international standards of Insulator for $SF_6$ GIS, Transformer, Arrestor etc, having been prepared by IEC technical committee 36 : insulator.

  • 기존의 초고압 옥외절연물은 세라믹을 소재로한 porcelain이었지만 최근 신소재기술의 발달로 내열성, 내후성, 내트래킹성 등이 우수한 고분자 재료들이 개발됨에 따라 구미 선진국을 중심으로 이들의 전기절연물분야 적용이 크게 증가하고 있다. 인발(pultrusion)공법으로 glass fiber와 수지를 결합시켜 고강도 무결점의 FRP절연봉이나 tube를 만들 수가 있다. 절연물에서 요구되는 구조재로서의 기계적 특성은 FRP복합재료가 충족시킬 수 있는데 이러한 봉을 core재로 하여 절연물의 표면전기특성을 만족하도록 고무로 된 shed를 씌우고 양쪽 끝에 금구류를 부착하여 composite insulator를 만들 수가 있다. composite insulator는 여러개의 shed를 한번에 진공사출하거나 shed를 금형에서 찍어 조립하여 제작할 수가 있는데 지금까지 검토되어 온 어떤 고분자 절연물보다 특성이 우수하고 장점이 많기 때문에 상업적 가치를 인정받고 있다. 본 고에서는 옥외용 절연물의 절연성능과 섬락사고기구를 요약하고 고분자신소재 절연물인 composite insulator의 장점, 국내외 개발현황, 평가방법등을 정리하였다.

Evaluation Technology of Electrical and reliableility Characteristics for Outdoor Polymer Insulator Materials (폴리머 절연물 소재의 전기적 밀 복합열화 특성평가 기술)

  • There have been numerous accelerated aging laboratory tests for evaluating suitability of polymeric materials and devices. Aging test for materials and its full scale device has been conducted. Service experience plays a key role in the utility section of composite insulators. A meaningful and reliable accelerated aging test is needed for evaluating composite insulator. During the service these insulators are subjected to aging stress such as humidity, pollution, and electrical field, and erosion and tracking of the weathershed occurs. This paper presents the criteria of reliability evaluation and evaluation facilities for 22.9 kV suspension composite insulator. We adopt the criteria of reliability evaluation consist of two test methods. One is CEA tracking wheel test for examining the tracking and erosion performance of composite insulator. The other is multi-stress aging test for examining effects of environmental factors such as UV, temperature, humidity, etc on composite insulator.

  • This paper provides the results for experimental study on longitudinal shear performance for new-concept composite slabs embedded with silence insulator. Longitudinal shear capacity tests are used to predict characteristics of composite action between the concrete block, silence insulator and deckplate. A total set of 7 Push-Down specimens are tested to clarify the composite action between the concrete block, silence insulator and deckplate. Parameters in this study are the width of T-type bar, the depth of reinforced bar and the thickness of silence insulator. The results from experimental study on longitudinal shear capacity for new-concept composite slabs applied T-type bar, Reinforced bar and Silence insulator are summarized as follows. In test result, the Longitudinal Shear Capacity of the new concept specimen is 2 times excellent than basic specimen with safety. It is expected that applying the proposed composite slab detail at the actual site will provide a significant safety factor in structural aspect of the existing composite slab, and greatly contribute to the improvement capacities of resisting vibration and sound.

  • This paper presents an analysing method to find out an optimum metal shape for insulation strength of SCI(Silicone Composite Insulator). Using finite element method, the interested parameters of the configuration such as a aspect of metal/silicone composite and a material properties are investigated and derived a thread of optimum design parameters.
