  • We investigated the doping effects of $ReO_3$ in different p-type organic semiconductors on the formation of charge transfer complexes and the electrical conductivity by comparing the absorption in ultraviolet-visible-nearinfrared (UV-Vis-NIR) and the current density-voltage characteristics of the hole only devices, respectively. The large energy difference between the HOMO level of host and Fermi energy level of dopant (${\Delta}E$=$E_{HOHO,host}$ - $E_{F,dopant}$) gives higher concentration of CT complexes and enhanced conductivity.

  • Understanding the thermal conductivity and heat transfer processes in superlattice structures is critical for the development of thermoelectric materials and optoelectronic devices based on quantum structures. $Chen^{(1)}$ developed ballistic diffusive equation(BDE) for alternatives of the Boltzmann equation that can be applied to the complex geometrical situation. In this study, a simulation code based on BDE is developed and applied to the 1-dimensional transient heat conduction across a thin film and transient 2-dimensional heat conduction across the film with heater. The obtained results are compared to the results of the $Chen^{(1)}$ and Yang and $Chen^{(1)}$. Finally, steady 2-dimensional heat conduction in the quantum dot superlattice are solved to obtain the equivalent thermal conductivity of the lattice and also compared with the experimental data from $Borca-Tasciuc^{(2)}$.

  • REBCO coated conductors are widely used for HTS power application, high magnetic field magnet application, and etc. A thermal stability of the REBCO conductor is essential for the operation of HTS-based device, and thermal conductivities of the conductor are relevant parameters for modeling cryogenic heat transfer. REBCO conductors consist of a REBCO layer, copper layers for electrical stabilization and a hastelloy substrate. At cryogenic temperature, thermal conductivity of copper and silver strongly depend on the purity of the material and the intensity of the magnetic field. In this study, thermal conductivities of the laminated composite structure of REBCO conductor are evaluated by using the thermal network model and the multidimensional heat conduction analysis. As a result, the thermal network model is applicable to REBCO conductors configured in series or parallel alone and multidimensional heat conduction analysis is necessary for complex cases of series and parallel configuration.

  • The stability constant for the complex of $UO_2^{2+}$ with a macrocyclic aminoether ligand, 1,7,10,16-tetraoxa-4,13-diazacyclooctadecane, has determined in aqueous solution. The conductivity and pH metric measurements suggest that the ligand forms a stable 1:1 complex with $UO_2^{2+}$ ion, and the complex is an ionic form, $UO_2L^{2+}$, in aqueous solution. The fact that the ligand does not form a complex with lanthanides, such as $Ce^{3+}$, $Sm^{3+}$, and $Nd^{3+}$ ions, in aqueous solution suggests a possibility of separation of the lanthanide elements from uranium matrix using the macrocyclic aminoether ligand.

  • Nafion/basic polymer composite membranes were prepared to reduce the methanol crossover for the application of direct methanol fuel cell. The thermal and mechanical properties increased with increasing basic polymer contents due to the formation of complex via acid/basic interaction. The water uptake, proton conductivity, methanol permeability decreased with increasing basic polymer concentration by reduction of acidity associated with the formation of acid/base complex. The molecular effect on those properties was not considerable.

  • The electrochemical behavior of Ru complex and PD complex monolayer, deposited on conductive substrate by the Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique as monolayer and multilayer, has been studied by cyclic voltammetry. Monolayer films show stable reversible state. Atomic resolution imaging of LB highly-conductive, environmently stable organic films has been obtained by atomic force microscopy (AFM) showing their closely packed structure,

  • The electrical transport properties of mayenite ($Ca_{12}Al_{14}O_{33}$ or $12CaO{\cdot}7Al_2O_3$; mostly abbreviated as $C_{12}A_7$) can be controlled in a wide range by varying the oxygen deficiency: At high temperatures mayenite becomes either an oxygen solid electrolyte, a mixed ionic/electronic conductor or an inorganic electride with metal-like properties upon chemical reduction (removing oxygen). The underlying defect chemistry can be understood on the basis of a relatively simple model-despite the complex cage structure: A point defect model based on the assumption that the framework $[Ca_{12}Al_{14}O_{32}]^{2+}$ acts as a pseudo-donor describes well the high temperature transport properties. It accounts for the observed conductivity plateau at higher oxygen activities and also describes the experimentally observed oxygen activity dependence of the electronic conductivity with -1/4 slope at temperatures between 800 and $1000^{\circ}C$. Doping effects in mayenite are still not well explored, and we review briefly the existing data on doping by different elements. Hydration of mayenite plays a crucial role, as Mayenite is hygroscopic, which may be a major obstacle for technical applications.

  • We report the preparation and characterization of a new and water soluble complex of palladium(II) with 1,10- phenanthroline and butyldithiocarbamate ligands. This compound has been studied through spectroscopic techniques, $^1H$ NMR, IR, electronic spectra and elemental analysis and conductivity measurements. The complex shows 50% cytotoxic concentration ($Ic_{50}$) value against chronic myelogenous leukemia cell line, K562, much lower than that of cisplatin. Thus the mode of binding of this complex to calf thymus DNA have been extensively investigated by isothermal titration UV-visible spectrophotometry, fluorescence, gel filteration and other methods. UV-visible studies show that the complex exhibits cooperative binding with DNA and remarkably denatures the DNA at extremely low concentration ($~13\;{\mu}M$). Fluorescence studies indicate that the complex intercalate into DNA. Gel filtration studies suggest that the binding of Pd(II) complex with DNA is strong enough that it does not readily break. In these interaction studies, several thermodynamic and binding parameters are also determined which may reflect the mechanism of action of this type of compound with DNA.

  • Bias and frequency-dependent impedance is a technique for the investigation of complex conductivity. At low frequency, complex impedance is dominated by resistive component, and at high frequency by capacitive component. We are going to present the results of the bias and frequency-dependent complex impedance in the device structure of $ITO/Alq_3/Al$ in the temperature range between 10K and 300k. And we will show to change radius of Cole-Cole plot. It will be decrease resistance by temperature. Also equivalent electrical circuit and dielectric relaxation can be accomplished by using the complex impedance analysis.

  • The four dentate $N_2O_2$ Schiff base ligand of bis(2-hydroxyacetophenone)-1,2-propanediimine (BHAPN) and its manganese (III) complex were synthesized and identified by microanalysis, spectral data ($^1H$ NMR, MS, FT-IR and UV-Visible) and molar conductivity measurement. The mild and efficient homogeneous oxidative decarboxylation of some carboxylic acids by catalytic amount of this manganese (III) complex, using tetrabutylamonium periodate as a mild oxidant in chloroform at room temperature is reported. The catalyst used in this study showed good activity for the decarboxylation of the titled compounds.
