  • The research proposes the complementary methodology using integrated hypothesis testing and confidence interval models that can be identified the statistical difference and practical equivalence. The models developed in this study can be used in the quality improvement processes such as QC story 15 steps. For the expressions of CI4LSD(Confidence Interval for Least Significant Difference) and CI4TOST(Confidence Interval for Two One-Sided Tests) are simple, quality practioners can efficiently handle them. CI4TOST models as a complement can be applied when CI4LSD models are influenced by sample size and precision.

  • This paper presents generalized small-signal models for complementary driven double-ended isolated converters. The proposed small-signal models include the effect of the parasitic resistances, which have dominant influence on the damping of the secondary Power stage double-pole. To confirm the validity of the new models, an asymmetrical half-bridge converter with confer-taped rectifier and a forward-flyback converter with current doubler rectifier were built, and their performance were compared with the theoretical prediction.

  • An aims of this study is to examine substitute or complementary among types of special interest tourism and a causal relationship between total individual tourism demand and each types. Of 500 surveyed respondents in Seoul, 348 was valid to analyse. As statistical analysis method, correlation analysis was utilized for substitute or complementary and Econometrics models were applied for causal relationship. The results of this study demonstrate that agro tourism and ocean tourism lie on substitute which means competitive. Also, ocean tourism has had more impacted on total individual tourism demand than any other types of special interest tourism.

  • Hydrological models simulate the land phase component of the water cycle and provide a mechanism for evaluating the effects of climatic variation and change on water resources. Evapotranspiration(ET) is a critical process within hydrological models. This study evaluates five different methods for estimating ET in the SLURP(Semi-distrubuted Land Use Runoff Process)model, in the Yongdam basin. The five ET methods were the FAO Penman-Monteith, Motorn CRAE(Complementary Relationship Area Evapotranspiration), the Spittlehouse-Black, the Granger, the Linarce model. We evaluated the five ET models, based on the ability of SLURP model to simulate daily streamflow. and How the five ET methods influence the sensitivity of simulated streamflow to changes in key model parameters and validation SLURP independently for each ET methods.

  • Predicting the spread of COVID-19 remains a challenge due to the complexity of the disease and its evolving nature. This study presents an integrated approach using the classic SIR model for infectious diseases, enhanced by the chemical master equation (CME). We employ a Monte Carlo method (SSA) to solve the model, revealing unique aspects of the SARS-CoV-2 virus transmission. The study, a first of its kind in Korea, adopts a step-by-step and complementary approach to model prediction. It starts by analyzing the epidemic's trajectory at local government levels using both basic and stochastic SIR models. These models capture the impact of public health policies on the epidemic's dynamics. Further, the study extends its scope from a single-infected individual model to a more comprehensive model that accounts for multiple infections using the jump SIR prediction model. The practical application of this approach involves applying these layered and complementary SIR models to forecast the course of the COVID-19 epidemic in small to medium-sized local governments, particularly in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The results from these models are then compared and analyzed.

  • Objectives: This study examined whether the infant feeding type and duration are related to the introduction of complementary feeding, and whether the appropriate introduction of complementary feeding in infancy is related to tooth decay in toddlers. Methods: The subjects were 1,521 toddlers among 2~3 year old children in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2008 to 2015. The toddlers were divided into the appropriate group (4~6 months) and delayed group (>6 months) according to the timing of complementary feeding introduction. Results: The delayed group were 26.5% of subjects and the formula feeding period in the appropriate group and delayed group was 8.4 and 10.3 months, respectively (P=0.002). On the other hand, there was no difference in the breastfeeding period between the appropriate group and delayed group (P=0.6955). Early childhood caries was more common in the delayed group (P=0.0065). The delayed introduction of complementary feeding was associated with a risk of early childhood caries according to the logistic models (OR 1.81, 95% CI 1.27-2.57). Conclusions: The introduction of complementary feeding is associated with early childhood caries. Therefore, the importance of the proper introduction of complementary feeding in infancy should be emphasized, and public relations and education for maternal care and breastfeeding should be provided through health care institutions.

  • In this paper a bimatrix game with imprecise values in its matrix of payoffs is considered. We propose a method for its solution based on the establishment of a linear complementary problems for two players. To solve the problems we use the auxiliary models resulting from the methods for ranking fuzzy numbers.

  • In this paper, We consider various service models and mechanisms as a part of study for offering QoS with the requirement of user and discuss genetic algorithm and hybrid genetic algorithm for routing optimization in broa㏈and convergence network. If routing optimization based on OSPF is not sufficient, a number of MPLS paths can be set up to further improve QoS. We propose two mixed-integer programming models for the complementary MPLS problem, and consider the maximum link utilization within the network as the relevant network QoS measure

  • We investigated the textbook model explaining a phase of the Moon and compared it with student models at the secondary levels in Korea. 20 high school students and 36 middle school students from suburb area participated in this study. Participants were interviewed to explain understandings about the cause of the Moon's phase with drawing their models. The results of this study showed that the textbooks now in use explain the phase of the Moon with one unique scientific model, while students displayed 6 different kinds of models including the scientific model. Furthermore the students tend to have comparatively scientific model modes as their grades increase and their scholastic ability levels become higher. Although the students have learned the Moon's phase in school, they still have alternative models because the textbook does not explain enough for the students to overcome their alternative conceptions. In the textbook, the model presented without explanation of the limitation of the model, so there can be a gap between the model in the textbooks and the models in the mind of students. With these findings, we propose complementary models for helping secondary school students to develop their understanding of moon phases.

  • Recently, many unsupervised learning-based models have emerged for Just Noticeable Difference (JND) estimation, demonstrating remarkable improvements in accuracy. However, these models suffer from a significant drawback is that their heavy reliance on handcrafted priors for guidance. This restricts the information for estimating JND simply extracted from regions that are highly related to handcrafted priors, while information from the rest of the regions is disregarded, thus limiting the accuracy of JND estimation. To address such issue, on the one hand, we extract the information for estimating JND in an Adversarial Complementary Learning (ACoL) way and propose an ACoL-JND network to estimate the JND by comprehensively considering the handcrafted priors-related regions and non-related regions. On the other hand, to make the handcrafted priors richer, we take two additional priors that are highly related to JND modeling into account, i.e., Patterned Masking (PM) and Contrast Masking (CM). Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed model outperforms the existing JND models and achieves state-of-the-art performance in both subjective viewing tests and objective metrics assessments.
