Developing a Web 2.0 based Job Competency Modeling Method (웹 2.0 방식의 직무역량모델링 방법 개발)

  • Many companies in Korea have developed job competency models and are utilizing them for the purpose of training and management of employees. However many of them are unable to be utilized efficiently through their own job competency model because the company failed to reflect what happens in the real work place in the model or the model itself is not concrete enough to be applied practically. Thus, in this study, the current status of Korean companies which had developed their own job competency model were investigated and the subsequent development of training system which is based on the model were developed. By result of the survey, about 43.5% of the company, which has more than 400 employees, have developed job competency models and 31.7% of them haven‘t been able to develop training system based upon the model due to the lack of concreteness of their model. To overcome this contradiction, we developed web 2.0 based job competency modeling method where each individuals in the organization themselves develop job competency as opposed to an expert oriented developing method. The result of this study is that web 2.0 based job competency modeling method is superior to any another modeling in an accuracy of competency, an acceptance of competency, and an usefulness of competency description.

A Study on Development of Integrated Sports Talents' Competency Model By Career Type (체육인재의 경력유형별 융합적 역량모델 개발 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a competency model by career type by designing the specified career paths through the analysis of career experience of the athletes in the professional sports field. For this purpose, career types were identified as sports administrators, judges, leaders, sports information analysts, and global sports talents based on literature analysis, career development type and path guide design, experts interviews. Competency candidates were derived from interviews and workshops on experts. In order to finalize the competency model, it was confirmed by completing the feasibility test of experts. As a result, it is divided into common competency, professional competency, and global professional competency. There are 6 common competencies such as global competence, OA utilization, 29 special competencies by 5 career types, and 2 global competencies like sports foreign affairs, job preparation for international sports organization and the sports league federation. Competency definitions and behavioral indicator were developed for all competencies and could be used to diagnose the competency level of sports talents and to establish career development academy programs based on the competency model.

A Study on the Development of Sensory Integration Intervention Competency Model for Occupational Therapist (감각통합중재를 위한 작업치료사 역량모델 개발 연구)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to draw up sensory integration intervention competency model for occupational therapist and was to confirm a competency model through validation. Methods : We conducted literature review, expert opening survey, and expert focus meeting to draw up draft competency model. And then, we carried out Delphi survey twice and consulted an expert to confirm the sensory integration intervention competency model for occupational therapist. Results : The sensory integration intervention competency model for occupational therapist developed in this study was structured into 4 competency cluster, 15 competency, 60 competency indicators. 4 competency clusters had expertise, professionalism, interpersonal skills, and personal characteristics. Conclusion : The competency model revealed in this study can be used as basic critical data to foster development of competency based curriculum of Korean Academy of Sensory Integration (KASI).

The Effects of Learners' Job Competency Development on the Improvement of Their Vocational Key Competencies in Lifelong Education Based on National Competency Standards(NCS) (국가직무능력표준(NCS)기반 평생교육에서 학습자의 직무능력개발이 직업기초능력 향상에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the effects of learners' job competency development on their vocational key competency improvement in lifelong education based on national competency standards. A survey was empirically carried out to 480 learners of lifelong education institutions in Seoul and the results were statistically analyzed. Covariance analysis was conducted to allow for external influences of lifelong education learners' educational environment in the process that verifies the effects of job competency development on vocational key competencies classified into 4 units, namely, mathematical skill, problem-solving skill, resource management skill, and communication skill. The findings are summarized as follows. First, all factors of job competency development had no effect on mathematical competency in the single dimension. Second, the testing of hypothesis 2 showed that education system(F=3.021, p<.05) and curriculum(F=6.684, p<.05) of job competency development factors had a significant positive effect on mathematical competency in the single dimension. Third, the testing of hypothesis 3 showed that only curriculum(F=5.865, p<.05) of job competency development factors had a significant positive effect on resource management in the single dimension. Fourth, the testing of hypothesis 4 showed that all factors of job competency development had no effect on communication in the single dimension. These findings suggest that the proper harmony of both education system and curriculum or all education system, curriculum and evaluation management in the combination of lifelong education support with teaching interaction can have a positive effect on the improvement of communication.

  • The objective of this study is to develop an on-line system for improving undergraduate students' competency development. After drawing elements necessary for the competency development such as assessment and planning, competency development, analysis of competency assessment, portfolio, analysis of job ability and community, based on the literature research related to competency and the analysis of the existing system, the direction of the system design was set up. The system was developed by using Microsoft Windows operating system in Windows server, ORACLE ver.10 as its database management system, and JSP and JAVA as its programing language. Reviewing errors and improvements of the system, it was modified and complemented. In order to examine the content functional utilization of the final competency development system, the utilization was verified. The competency development system for undergraduate students can be used as on-line space filled with the internalization of knowledge, self-directed competency development, convenience of record management and interactions between students-professors-alumna, owing to its functions such as boosting competency activities, cultivating career-pioneering ability and introspecting. When it is rare to find researches on the competency development system for undergraduate students, it is expected to be helpful to the development of competency education and the career education for undergraduate students as a new alternative for the competency development.

Entrepreneurs' Competencies and Business Performance: A Meta-Analysis (창업가의 역량이 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 메타분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a theoretical basis for future studies by systematically integrating existing empirical studies that examine the relationship between the entrepreneurs' competencies and business performance. As the results of empirical studies examining the relationship between the entrepreneurs' competencies and business performance are mixed, this study tries to derive different results from individual studies through meta-analysis into standardized statistics(effect sizes). To accomplish the purpose, this study developed hypotheses about the positive effects of the entrepreneurial competencies including opportunity recognition competency, managerial competency, technical-functional competency, strategic competency, and relationship competencies on the business performance through theoretical reviews of the literature. Also, this study conducted meta-analysis with 15 sample data using open source based statistical program 'R'. The results of this study are as follows. The opportunity recognition competency, managerial competency, technical-functional competency, strategic competency, and relationship competency were found to significantly affect financial business performance. Also, each of the factors had a moderate effect size on the performance. Among these competencies, the most effective factor was the strategic competency, followed by the opportunity recognition competency, technical-functional competency, and relationship competency. There is still no study using meta-analysis on the relationship between the entrepreneurs' competencies and business performance in South Korea. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to provide implications for developing the theoretical basis of future studies.

A Study on the Composition of Factors in Teaching Competence Using Artificial Intelligence of Pre-service Early Childhood Teachers (예비 유아 교사들의 인공지능 활용 교육역량 요인 구성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to construct factors of AI education utilization competency. AI education utilization competency is used as basic data for education to enhance the AI education competency of pre-service early childhood teachers. To this end, 7 studies related to competency factors and models were selected by searching for previous studies. Seven preceding studies were analyzed. As a result, 18 competency factors were extracted, including understanding of artificial intelligence. The extracted competency elements were divided into six areas, which are divided into understanding subject knowledge through coding, class preparation, class management, class result feedback, class guidance, and self-development. And 15 factors were constructed. The draft formed through coding was improved through review by three early childhood education experts. Factors improved through expert review were structured by classifying them into knowledge, skills, and attitudes to organize the curriculum. The validity of the structured competency factor was verified through expert Delphi. As a result of the Delphi verification, all factors were converged in the first survey. Through this, 6 competency areas, 11 competency factors, and 19 competency factors were composed of knowledge, 10 skills, and 5 attitudes. The implication is that the competency factors presented as a result of this study can be used as basic data for organizing a curriculum to improve the ability of pre-service early childhood teachers to use artificial intelligence education.

Children's Early English Education and the Factors on their Bilingual Language Development (유아의 조기영어교육과 이중언어발달에 영향을 주는 요인)

  • The study purposes to explore the effects of individual characteristics and home environments of children on their bilingual language aquisition, that is, to examine whether their English language competency is different from their Korean language competency depending on those variables. Thus English or Korean language competency of children who had had early exposure in English learning were studied in terms of child's individual characteristics such as age, gender, exposure period to English, intelligence, and experiences of visiting English-speaking countries, and home environments such as parental age, educational level, income level, their perceived English competency, their perceived significance of English and Korean language, and the frequency of using English at home. 72 children who went to English kindergarten were tested with Peabody Pictures Vocabulary Test-Revised (PPVT-R) in Korean version and in English version respectively. The results show that child's intelligence and experiences of visiting English-speaking countries influence their Korean language competency. Also child's age, exposure period to English and experiences of visiting English-speaking countries influence their English language competency. Moreover their mother's educational background, father's English fluency, mothers' English fluency, and the frequency of using English at home influence child's English language competency, whereas any variables did not influence child's Korean language competency. Accordingly, child's English and Korean language competencies are related to each other.

Effects and Development of Clinical Competency Evaluation using Standardized Patients among Nursing Students: Based on Abdominal Surgical Patients (표준화 환자를 활용한 임상수행능력 평가방법 개발 및 적용효과: 복부수술 후 환자간호)

  • Purpose: This study was to develop the clinical competency evaluation, and to examine the effects of the developed evaluation by comparing it with existing evaluation on clinical competency, communication skill, and self-efficacy of nursing students. Methods: Design was a randomized control group post-test design. The subjects were 102 senior nursing students(Experimental group: 48, Control group: 54) at K university in seoul, Korea. The experimental group took the clinical competency evaluation using standardized patients and the control group took the existing evaluation using a doll. The clinical competency and communication skills were measured by evaluators, and self-efficacy was self reported by the nursing students. Results: The experimental group had higher scores in clinical competency, communication skills, and self-efficacy than those in the control group. Conclusion: Through these results, practice education of nursing education programs need to activate the clinical competency evaluation using standardized patients.

Ego Resilience, Problem Solving Process and Clinical Practice Competency in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아탄력성, 문제해결과정 및 임상수행능력)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship among ego resilience, the problem solving process and clinical competency in nursing students. Methods: Data were collected by questionnaires from 265 nursing students in D city. Measures were ego resilience, problem solving process and clinical competency. Data was analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, person's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 19.0 version. Result: The Ego resilience score of subjects was 2.80 out of a perfect score of 4, the problem solving process score of subjects was 3.12, and the clinical competency score of subjects was 3.49 out of a perfect score of 5. There was a significant positive correlation among ego resilience, problem solving process and clinical competency. The significant predictors of problem solving process and clinical competency were ego resilience. Conclusion: These findings indicate that there is a need to increase ego resilience to improve the problem solving process and clinical competency of nursing students. The results should be reflected in the development of effective curricula.
