After applying the gravity acceleration stress to a mice, the effect on organ index was examined, and the Con A stimulating proliferation rate of splenocytes, expression of IL-2 receptor and T cell subsets of thymocytes were analyzed and also clearance of C. neoformans was measured. The results were as follows :1. Form finding the organ index after 4 days stress, the indexes of the spleen and thymus were reduced in the res group exposed to the gravity acceleration.2. From finding the proliferation rate by stimulating the splenocytes with Con 4 after 7 days stress, the proliferation rates were all reduced in the stress group, the Yangsimtang group, and the stress and Yangsimtang group. 3. The expression of IL-2 receptor in resting stage was reduced, comparing to the test group, both in the stress group and the Yangsimtang group, however, comparing to the stress group, it was somewhat recovered in the stress and Yangsimtang group.4. To see the IL-2 receptor driven-out after being stimulated by Con-A, the expression of IL-2 receptor was all reduced in the stress group, the Yangsimtang group, and the stress and Yangsimtang group.5. To the rate of T cell subsets of thymus, there's no difference, comparing to the test group, in the Yangsimtang group, however, the rate of $CD4^+CD8^-,\;CD4^-CD8^+,\;and\;CD4^-CD8^-$ cell was significantly reduced in the stress group. And, the $CD4^+CD8^+$ which had been reduced by stress was somewhat recovered in the stress and Yangsimtang group.6. To the effect on the clearance of C, neoformans infection, the numbers of fungi detected at the spleen was, comparing to the test group, increased by 12.6 tines in the Yangsimtang group.
There were some controversies about direct cause of hip fracture. We attempted to look at 40 osteoporotic proximal femur fractures in women over 50 years between March in 1999 and Febuary in 2000. The bone density of the fracture group and the healthy 85 control group was measured by Dual Energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA). The result was compared using age matched paired T test. The results were as follows ; 1. The femoral neck fractures were 14 cases and the trochanteric fractures were 26 cases. Mean age at a fracture was 67.1 years in neck fracture group and 76.5 years in trochanteric fracture. 2. In the control group, the bone density of both side of the proximal femur was measured and it showed statistically no difference between both sides in same person. 3. The bone density of neck, Ward's triangle, trochanter(P<0.05) and lumbar spine(P<0.001) was significantly reduced in the proximal femoral fracture group comparing with the control group. 4. The bone density of neck, Ward's triangle, trochanter(P<0.05) was significantly reduced in the proximal femoral neck fracture group comparing with the control group, but there was no statistical difference in lumbar spine comparing with the control group. 5. The bone density of neck, Ward's triangle, trochanter and lumbar spine(P<0.001) was significantly reduced in the proximal femoral neck fracture group comparing with the control group. We concluded that the bone mineral densities(BMD) of proximal femur and lumbar spine had decreased in hip fractures but that the bone mineral density and T-score % of the proximal femur were statistically lower than that of the lumbar spine. We suggest that measuring the bone mineral density of the proximal femur may reflect the weakness of the proximal femur more precisely than measuring the bone mineral density of the lumbar spine.
In an attempt to better understand the effect of whole body X-irradiation on the spontaneous motility of the isolated mouse duodenum and to clarify the possible radioprotective notion of reduced glutathione (GSH), a whole body X-irradiation of 1,000r was given to albino mouse either singularly or immediately after injecting GSH intraperitoneally to mouse in the dose of 1mg per gm of body weight. The total length of contraction of the isolated duodenum was recorded on kymograph every five minutes for 60 minutes, and the comparison was made with the control (i.e., normal). The results thus obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The spontaneous motility of the isolated duodenum in the X·irradiated groups showed a significantly elevated pattern for the first 15 minutes comparing with the control. The motility, however, decreased after 15 minutes and remained so in the X-irradiated groups to the level of the non-irradiated control, but 12 hours post-irradiation group showed a significantly increased motility throughout the experiment comparing with the control. 2. When GSH was injected intraperitoneally Prior to the whole body X·irradiation with 1,000r, the spontaneous motility of the isolated duodenum of mouse showed a significantly decreased pattern for the first 10 and 15 minutes comparing with the X·irradiated group followed by the similar motility thereafter comparing with the control and X-irradiated groups. 3. The above results suggest that GSH is effective as a radioprotector in terms of the motility of the isolated mouse duodenum.
In this paper, we calculate the light photons collection efficiency of large-volume plastic scintillation detector mainly used for radiation portal monitor (RPM). A Monte Carlo light photon transport code, DETECT2000, were used to quantitatively evaluate light collection efficiency of plastic scintillation detector. DETECT2000 calculated the placement of light collection efficiency based on the energy spectrum. We calculated the light collection efficiency relative to the position of the energy spectrum that proportional to the placement of the source. The $850{\times}285{\times}65mm^3$ size of polyvinyl toluene (PVT) scintillator was used for measurements. Through DETECT2000 simulation, the light collection efficiency of $5{\times}5$ arrays were calculated and verification was performed by comparing with experimentally measured. And then, the corrected MCNP simulation by applying the light collection efficiency in $21{\times}13$ arrays was compared and analyzed. Comparing the Monte Carlo simulation with measured results, it shows an average difference of 10.1% in $5{\times}5$ arrays. Particularly, about twice of the difference was found in the edge of first column, which coupled with PMT. In whole $5{\times}5$ array, the overall ratio was the same except for the first column. And then comparing the energy spectra of the $21{\times}13$ array with and without the light collection efficiency, it shows a difference of 6.69% in Compton edge area. The DETECT2000 based light collection efficiency simulation showed well agreement with the point source experiment. And comparing with measured energy spectra, we could compare the differences according to whether or not the light collection efficiency was applied. As a results, it is possible to increase the accuracy and reliability of Monte Carlo simulation results by pre-calculating the light collection efficiency according to the PVT geometry by using the DETECT2000.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate which system the FanQie notation of "Taisu(太素)" followed by comparing FanQie notation appearing in "Taisu", with the Sound button(聲紐) and Rhyme system(韻類) of the FanQie notation appearing in the "Qieyun(切韻)" system phonology book and "Guangyun(廣韻)". Methods : Followed by organizing the FanQie list in "Taisu", in comparing this list with the top and bottom characters of FanQie in the "Qieyun" system phonology book and "Guangyun", this study explores the similarity of the system after noting the Sound button and the Rhyme system. Results & Conclusions : 1. Compared to FanQie of "Taisu" with that of "Qieyun" system, the Sound button and Rhyme system were 61.54% identical, and when comparing FanQie of "Taisu" with that of "Guangyun", the Sound button and Rhyme system were 55.45% identical. 2. Comparing FanQie top and bottom letters themselves of the "Taisu" and "Qieyun" system, of the 217 FanQie sound notation Chinese characters, FanQie top and bottom letters of 18 characters were the same, accounting for 8.29%, and when compared to the "Taisu" with the FanQie top and bottom characters of "Guangyun", 15 FanQie top and bottom characters were the same, accounting for 6.91%. 3. Of the total 11,500 characters in "Qieyun", the ratio of FanQie notation Chinese characters in "Taisu" was 1.89%, and among them, nine characters came out in "Taisu" FanQie notation while there was none in "Qieyun". This accounted for 4.15% of 217 FanQie notation sound Chinese characters in "Taisu", demonstrating that this represented a relatively high ratio. 4. Conclusionally "Taisu" was more closely related to "Qieyun" system phonology book than "Guangyun" in FanQie notation, and there is also a possibility that Yang Shangshan has created some FanQie notation by himself or additionally referred to other phonology books that are not "Qieyun" system phonology book.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find out the difference in the priority level of recognition for universal design application in public spaces by gender. Method: ANOVA(analysis of variance) and post-hoc test were conducted to determine the priority level of recognition and pattern for the disabled, non-disabled, and experts classified into males and females. Results: There was no gender difference in the comparison by sector for all males and females. However, in comparing of domains and facilities, women showed a higher level of recognition than men in the building sector and cross domain. When comparing space consumers and producers by dividing them into male and female groups, women showed a higher level of recognition than men in producers, but there was no gender difference between consumers. In comparison by sector, domain and facility, women producers also showed a higher level of recognition in the road sector, park and recreation sector, sidewalk domain, four-spaces in the park and recreation sector, and six-spaces in the building sector than men producers. Also, in the building sector, women producers and consumers showed a higher recognition level than men. Comparing the disabled, non-disabled people and experts by dividing them into male and female groups, in the case of non-disabled people and experts, women showed a higher level of recognition than men, while men showed a higher level of recognition than women in the disabled. In addition, there were differences in recognition patterns in many spaces and facilities by gender. Implications: This study is meaningful in comparing the differences in the priority level of recognition and patterns between men and women to apply universal design for people of all ages and both sexes.
Background: This study investigated the effect of robot-assisted arm training on muscle activity of arm and weight bearing in stroke patients. Methods: The study subjects were selected 20 stroke patients who met the selection criteria. 10 people in the robot-assisted arm training group and 10 people in the task-oriented arm training group were randomly assigned. The experimental group performed robot-assisted arm training, and the control group performed task-oriented arm training for 6 weeks, 5 days a week, 30 minutes a day. The measurement tools included surface electromyography and smart insole system. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-test and the paired sample t-test. Results: Comparing the muscle activity of arm within the group, the experimental group and the control group showed significant differences in muscle activity in the biceps brachii, triceps brachii, anterior deltoid, upper trapezius, middle trapezius, and lower trapezius. Comparing the muscle activity of arms between the groups, the experimental group showed significant difference in all muscle activity of arm compared to the control group. Comparing the weight bearing within the groups, the experimental group showed significant difference in the affected side and non-affected side weight bearings and there were significant differences in anterior and posterior weight bearing. The control group showed significant difference only in the non-affected side weight bearing. Comparing the weight bearings between groups, the experimental group showed significant difference in the affected side and non-affected side weight bearings compared to the control group. Conclusion: This study confirmed that robot-assisted arm training applied to stroke patients for 6 weeks significantly improved muscle activity of arm and weight bearing. Based on these results, it is considered that robot-assisted arm training can be a useful treatment in clinical practice to improve the kinematic variables in chronic stroke patients.
Anthropometric measurements, particularly weight and height, are the most commonly employed measures of nutritional status in epidemiologic studies because of their simplicity and ease of collection. However, the usefulness of the anthropometric indicator is controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the anthropometric indicator to represent the nutritional status of individual adult in epidemiologic studies. In order to evaluate the usefulness of the anthropometric indicator to represent the nutritional status of individual, the validity in terms of sensitivity and specificity of anthropometric indicators was estimated by comparing the biochemical indicators to the reference indicators. The relative validity of dietary intake indicators was also measured for comparison between the three indicators of biochemistry, anthropometry and dietary assessment. The results showed that sensitivity of weight and height and dietary indicators were 16.7 an 50.5, respectively comparing the reference value of 100 as biochemical indicator in identifying anemic adults. Whereas the sensitivity of weight and height and dietary indicators were 63.6 and 36.4, respectively comparing reference value of 100 in identifying hyperlipidemic individuals(obesity). In conclusion, the validity of weight and height is much lower than that of biochemical indicator, burt weight and height still has some usefulness in identifying anemic individuals. Especially, it is more useful in identifying hyperlipidemic individual adults thant in identifying anemic individuals.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the different of yangdorak diagnosis between low back pain patients and medical checkup group. Methods : We analyzed the measurement value of yangdorak on 103 patients with low back pain and 103 medical checkup persons in Korean males from March 1st, 2007 to September 30th, 2008 by using yangdorak(MEDIRA, Neomyth Co., Korea). Results : 1. In comparing results on the yangdorak general mean, low back pain group is statistically significant in comparison with medical checkup group(p<0.001). 2. In comparing results on each meridian yangdorak value, they were statistically significant between two groups(p<0.001). 3. In comparing result on the distance of yangdorak value from the mean, they were statistically significant between two groups at the Bladder-meridian(p<0.05), but not at the Kidney-meridian. Conclusions : This results suggest that yangdorak may be used for a method to objective clinical examination. But further studies are required for a use of practical indicator.
Purpose : Automatic exposure system(AOP mode) in DR Mammography of the STD and DOSE apply to women of childbearing age, the average glandular dose(AGD) and image quality by comparing was to demonstrate the usefulness of DOSE. Materials and Methods : Of the under 40 age 108 patients who visit to our hospital and examined STD and DOSE mammography from January 2008 to July 2013. AGD was obtained by DICOM header information provided by GE Senographe DS. STD and DOSE images were evaluated with obtained patients, Image J program was compared by calculating the SNR. Results : The average AGD of DOSE mode was 0.99mGy, and which decreased by 19% comparing to that of STD mode which was 1.18mGy. The two the average AGDs indicated statistically significant difference(p< .01). The average SNR of STD was 40.26, DOSE displayed, and to 39.68 in, there was no statistical significance. Results : The average AGD using DOSE mode which is one of DR mammography AOP modes decreased by comparing to that of STD mode showing no difference in image quality. The use of DOSE is considered to be useful.
