Development of the slitting device on separation study of pellet and hull (펠릿과 헐의 분리 연구를 위한 슬리팅 장치 개발)

  • The spent fuel slitting device is an equipment developed in order to feed UO$_2$pellet to the dry pulverizing/mixing device. In this study, we have compared and analyzed the handling method of the slitting and that of the pellet and hull, processing time, separating time for 20kgHM, the number of blades, on the existing slitting device using in DUPIC, and spent fuel management technology research and test facility. Also, we have compared and analyzed about an advantage and weak point, designing and producing, processing, establishment, operation, maintenance about the vertical and horizontal slitting device. Based on these results, we have developed the vertical slitting device. By using the results, we have enhanced the slitting processing time(over 40%)in comparison with DUPIC device, and it will is effectively applied to available data for designing and producing of the hot test facility.

A Study on Left and Right Shape and Deformation of Feet of Korean Adults (한국 성인 발 형태의 좌우 및 변형 연구)

  • An analysis of anthropometric data of feet of Korean adults was made in this study. Anthropometric data were measured with the direct measurement method and indirect measurement method. Martin scales and a tapeline were used for direct measurement. Digital images taken with a digital camera as an indirect measurement method were analyzed using AutoCAD program. Total 114 adults aged from 20's to 40's participated in this study. Especially right and left feet were measured. Right and left side were compared and differences according to age were compared too. Feet shape, arch height, and deformation of toe were analyzed. The comparison between right and left foot showed that many subjects had different anthropometric data in their feet. Feet deformation including arch height and claw toe shape showed very serious status. Close and continuous attention to feet deformation is strongly needed.

  • In This paper, the output characteristics and vibrations were compared and analyzed according to operation method in 100W class. The voltage source is applied only two phase in BLDC drive system therefore commutation torque ripple and imbalance of RMF occurred. Due to this efficiency was significantly degraded because mechanical loss is increased, besides the vibration and noise were greatly generated. The vibration and output characteristics were compared and analyzed according to three phase and BLDC drive system.

  • When memory devices are exposed to space environments, they suffer various effects such as SEU(Single Event Upset). Memory systems for space applications are generally equipped with error detection and correction(EDAC) logics against SEUs. In this paper, several error detection and correction codes - RS(10,8) code, (7,4) Hamming code and (16,8) code - are analyzed and compared with each other. Each code is implemented using VHDL and its performances(encoding/decoding speed, required memory size) are compared. Also the failure probability equation of each EDAC code is derived, and the probability value is analyzed for various occurrence rates of SEUs which the STSAT-3 possibly suffers. Finally, the EDAC algorithm for STSAT-3 is determined based on the comparison results.

  • Current status and quality administration of botanical products in America which has one of the biggest market need to be analyzed for the internationalization of oriental medicine. In this study, current status of botanical products as dietary supplements was analyzed and quality adminstration by United States Pharmacopoeia and National Formulary(USP-NF) was compared with The Korea Pharmacopoeia and botanical drug standard collection(KP), Even though the number of botanical products in USP-NF is small, it is rapidly increasing and more detailed compared with KP. Especially, reference standard compound should be determined for each botanical drugs, and more detailed standard for other items should be established in KP considering international trends. Though the history of botanical drugs in America is short, its annual market is about 3.2 billion dollar, so American administration system should be examined carefully for the internationalization of oriental medicine and related industry.

  • Distortions are analyzed and compared for two TDM channel expansion methods- periodic sample skipping and sampling frequency reduction. Signal is assumed to be stationary random signal with zero.mean. Channel noise and interference are not considered in the analysis. For speech signal, it is shown that the periodic sample skipping method could be a better choice under practical design constraints.

  • Carbon nanotube (CNT) aluminum composite coatings were built up through kinetic spraying process. Deposition behavior of CNT aluminum composite on an aluminum 1050 alloy substrate was analyzed based on deposition mechanism of kinetic spraying. The microstructure of CNT aluminum composite coating were observed and analyzed. Also, the electrical resistivity, bond strength and micro-hardness of the CNT aluminum composite coatings were measured and compared to kinetic sprayed aluminum coatings. The CNT aluminum composite coatings have a dense structure with low porosity. Compared to kinetic sprayed aluminum coating, the CNT aluminum composite coatings present lower electrical resistivity and higher micro-hardness due to high electrical conductivity and dispersion hardening effects of CNTs.

  • The comparative analysis of fire-driven flow simulation for Dae-Gu subway station was performed using FDS and Fluent. The boundary condition was obtained from analyzed data for Dae-Gu subway fire accident which had been outbreaked in 2003 year. The smoke flow in the second and third basement has been analyzed. The CO and temperature distribution in the train units and station platform have been obtained with FDS and FLUENT and compared with each other. Total simulation time is 600s and the results are compared of each 10sec The analyzed data will be applied to the passenger evacuation simulation for Dae-Gu subway station and used to optimal design method.

Molecular Weight Determination of Polymers by Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization in Mass Spectrometry

  • Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization in mass spectrometry is a fast and accurate method to determine the molecular weight of natural and synthetic polymers. Unknown peptides such as elastase inhibitor and $\small{D}$-hydantoinase were analyzed using sinapinic acid as matrix and their molecular weights were compared with the results from protein sequencer and gel filtration chomatography, respectively. Synthetic polymers such as polyethyleneglycol, polypropyleneglycol, polydimethylsiloxane, and polystyrene were analyzed using matrices such as 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 4-hdroxyazobenzenecarboxylic acid, and 2-nitrophenyl octyl ether. Average molecular weights of polystyrene were compared with molecular weights by gel permeation chromatography.

Change in Reflection Performance of Highway Lanes Through Lane Washing and Sweeping (차선세척과 청소를 통한 고속도로 차선의 반사성능 변화)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this paper is to analyze the change in lane reflection performance through lane washing and sweeping on highway lanes. METHODS : This paper compared and analyzed the changes in lane reflection performance before and after lane washing and sweeping. The research method was as follows. First, we selected four research sites on the Gyeong-bu Highway. Second, the parameters affecting lane reflection performance are classified into luminance, brightness, and number of glass beads. Third, the change in reflection performance was measured after washing /sweeping at the same place after studying 60m of the unwashed/unswept area. Fourth, the measurement results were compared and analyzed before and after lane washing/sweeping. RESULTS : The results of this study are as follows. First, lane washing improved the luminance and brightness by 4.2~21.4% and 1.4~5.1%, respectively, and reduced the number of glass beads per wash by 0.2~1.2%. Second, lane sweeping improved the luminance and brightness by 2.3~8.5% and 0.8~2.3%, respectively, and reduced the number of glass beads per sweep by 0.8~4.9%. CONCLUSIONS : By comparing the results of lane washing and sweeping, it was found that compared to lane sweeping, lane washing improved the luminance and fewer glass beads were dropped.
