한국어 비교 문장 유형 분류를 위한 변환 기반 학습 기법 (Transformation-based Learning for Korean Comparative Sentence Classification)

  • 본 논문은 비교마이닝(comparison mining)의 일환인 비교 문장 유형 자동 분류에 관하여 연구한다. 비교마이닝은 텍스트 마이닝의 한 분야로서 대용량의 텍스트를 대상으로 비교 관계를 분석하며, 크게 세 단계의 과정을 거치게 되는데 첫 번째 단계는 대용량의 문서에서 비교 문장만을 식별 후 추출해 내는 과정이고, 두 번째 단계는 추출된 비교 문장들을 비교 유형별로 분류하는 과정이며, 앞의 두 선행 과정이 끝나면 유형별로 비교 속성을 추출 및 비교 관계를 분석하는 세 번째 단계를 수행하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 변환 기반 학습(transformation-based learning) 기법을 이용하여 비교 문장들을 일곱 가지의 유형으로 자동 분류하는 두 번째 과제를 수행한다. 자연어 처리 분야 여러 부문에서 사용되고 있는 변환기반 학습은 오류를 감소시키는 최적의 규칙을 자동으로 생성하여 정답을 찾아가는 규칙 기반 학습 방법이다. 웹상의 다양한 도메인에서 추출된 비교 문장들을 대상으로 유형 분류를 수행한 결과 정확도 80.01%의 성능으로 일곱 가지 유형을 분류할 수 있었다.

중국 황도화(黃島話)의 'NP1+VP+기(起)+NP2'구문에 관한 초보적 고찰

  • In Huangdao Dialect, the "NP1+VP+起+NP2" sentence structure can not only be used with monosyllabic and bisyllabic adjectives and active adjectives, but also with passive adjectives. The usage of the VP is broader in Huangdao Dialect than in Qingdao dialect in case it is a verb phrase. The negative of "NP1+VP+起+NP2" sentence structure uses "不" or "沒有." If common comparative element can be found between NP1 and NP2, the negative particles are used at the beginning of the sentence in general to generate topic sentences. NP1 is often a common noun, modifying phrase, and quantifying phrase, while it can also be a verb-object phrase or modifying phrase. Huangdao Dialect may exhibit specific quantifying phrases that express comparative differences. The inquisitive style of "NP1+VP+起+NP2" sentence structure include appending a question mark at the end of the sentence, combining the positive and negative forms of the adjective, and appending "'是沒" or "是不是" in the front of the adjective.

  • Chinese is a topic-prominent language, so when we learn Chinese we should know the discourse function of the Chinese language. Most of the Korean student think Chinese sentences should appear in the order of S-V-O and they always make mistakes when they use Chinese. I think Korean is very similar with Chinese in the discourse function. Hence, in this paper, I try to find a method of teaching Chinese topic sentence. It does so by comparing Chinese with Korean in the light of discourse function. I think when Korean student know how to use Korean topic sentence to explain the discourse functions of the Chinese language, they will not make similar mistakes. With this understanding in mind, chapter 2 tries to show various topic sentences to prove that 'topic' is very important in Chinese sentences. This is why we say Chinese is a topic-prominent language. In chapter 3, I analysis the sentences that students made, and highlight the reasons why they made mistake. The result lies in the reason whereby they always think Chinese should appear in the order of S-V-O. They do not understand why some sentences appear in the order of O-(S)V or S-O-V. It show that they do not know what is topic sentence and do not know how to make topic sentences. Sometime I have them translate them into Korean, but they also make Korean sentences like in the order of Chinese S-V-O. Therefore, I think, under this circumstance, to let them to translate and to speak in Korean in topic sentence, get some feelings about Chinese topic sentences, and tell and make Chinese topic sentences are naturally critical in their training.

Summarizing the Differences in Chinese-Vietnamese Bilingual News

  • Summarizing the differences in Chinese-Vietnamese bilingual news plays an important supporting role in the comparative analysis of news views between China and Vietnam. Aiming at cross-language problems in the analysis of the differences between Chinese and Vietnamese bilingual news, we propose a new method of summarizing the differences based on an undirected graph model. The method extracts elements to represent the sentences, and builds a bridge between different languages based on Wikipedia's multilingual concept description page. Firstly, we calculate the similarity between Chinese and Vietnamese news sentences, and filter the bilingual sentences accordingly. Then we use the filtered sentences as nodes and the similarity grade as the weight of the edge to construct an undirected graph model. Finally, combining the random walk algorithm, the weight of the node is calculated according to the weight of the edge, and sentences with highest weight can be extracted as the difference summary. The experiment results show that our proposed approach achieved the highest score of 0.1837 on the annotated test set, which outperforms the state-of-the-art summarization models.

한국인과 미국인의 영어 모음길이 비교연구 (A Comparative Study of English Vowel Lengths between Koreans and Americans)

  • This thesis describes pronunciation differences of vowel lengths between Koreans and Americans speaking English words and sentences. This study also analizes the reasons for these differences with the help of acoustic instruments. Sixteen sentences and eight words were selected as the experimental material. The informants for this study were 9 males; 3 Americans and 6 Koreans, who were asked to pronounce the test words and sentences five times. In this study, the acoustical analysis to measure duration was done through computer digital techniques. According to the results of the experiment, duration of 8 English vowels pronounced between Koreans and Americans shows very different features. When Koreans pronounce English vowels, the duration of the stressed vowel in the sentence-final position is much shorter than in other positions, such as in the sentence-initial and in word position. On the contrary, when Americans pronounce English vowels, the duration of the stressed vowel in the sentence-final position is much longer than in other positions. If the correlation between length and stress were to be studied in a more detailed manner, it would give fundamental help to the study of relation between stress and length.

자폐 범주성 장애아동과 정상아동의 평서문 읽기에서의 운율구 특성 비교 (A Comparative Study on the Characteristics of the Prosodic Phrases between Autism Spectrum Disorder and Normal Children in the Reading of Korean Read Sentences)

  • The aim of this study is to compare ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) children with normal children in terms of the prosodic features. Materials are collected by the reading of Korean read sentences. They are composed of 10 declarative sentences, each of which was consisted of 5-6 words. Subjects are consisted of 10 ASD and 10 normal male children with a receptive vocabulary age of 5;0-6;5 years. We found out that both groups showed the differences not only in the tonal patterns at the end of the prosodic phrases, but also in both the degree of rising and falling slope related to pitch contour. While HL% and HLH% were highly emerged in sentence final position in normal group, HL% and HLH% were prominent in ASD group in the same position. LH% and LHL% IP types were observed only in ASD group in sentence medial position. The slope showing the variation in the fundamental frequency at the end of the prosodic phrase was twice as steep in the group of ASD children as in the group of normal children.

초등 수학 교과서의 수학 용어 정의 및 문장제에 사용된 표현의 문장 복잡성 비교 분석 (A Comparative Analysis of the Word Depth Appearing in Representations Used in the Definitions of Mathematical Terms and Word Problem in Elementary School Mathematics Textbook)

  • 본 연구는 현행 초등 수학 교과서 내 주요 용어의 정의 및 단원평가의 문장제에 사용된 표현을 구문론적 관점에서 문장 복잡성(Yngve, 1960)에 따라 비교분석하였다. 분석 결과, 교과서 내 용어의 정의와 문장제에 사용된 표현에서 저학년 교과서의 문장 복잡성이 낮게 구성되었고, 각 용어의 개별 특성에 따라 문장 구조 및 형태가 서로 다르게 나타나며, 전반적으로 간결하며 문장 복잡성이 낮게 해당 용어의 정의 및 문장제가 서술되었고 용어 정의의 문장이 문장제의 문장보다 복잡하게 구성되었음을 알 수 있었다. 초등학생이 복잡한 문장으로 인하여 수학적 개념 학습의 어려움을 겪지 않도록 교과서 내 문장을 명확하게 서술하고, 적절한 시각적 자료를 함께 제시하며, 개별 학습자의 문해 수준에 알맞은 설명을 보다 섬세하게 고려하여 제공하는 등의 노력이 필요하다.

Parsing Korean Comparative Constructions in a Typed-Feature Structure Grammar

  • The complexity of comparative constructions in each language has given challenges to both theoretical and computational analyses. This paper first identifies types of comparative constructions in Korean and discusses their main grammatical properties. It then builds a syntactic parser couched upon the typed feature structure grammar, HPSG and proposes a context-dependent interpretation for the comparison. To check the feasibility of the proposed analysis, we have implemented the grammar into the existing Korean Resource Grammar. The results show us that the grammar we have developed here is feasible enough to parse Korean comparative sentences and yield proper semantic representations though further development is needed for a finer model for contextual information.

초등 영재학생과 일반학생들의 지구과학 영역에서 과학 글쓰기에 대한 분석 (An analysis of Scientific Writing about Earth Science Area by Gifted and Average Elementary School Students)

  • With five gifted and nine average elementary school students, this study attempted to make a comparative analysis on the characteristics of their scientific writings for earth science-related topics. The analysis found that all of the gifted students showed higher scores than the average in the writing sections of scientific nature, logical nature and creativity. Compared to the average scores, their creativity scores were far higher. By comparing and analyzing the predicates in the writings two groups wrote, I found that the gifted students used more sentences per topic than the average students. Both groups wrote the most numbers of sentences for Volcano-related topics. In the meantime, the gifted children used the least numbers of sentences for the related topics to atmospheric pollution and the average students did so for the related topics to fossils. By the analysis on the patterns of predicate, it was observed that both groups used material predicates most and verbal predicates least. As far as the second most used predicates are concerned, the gifted children used relational predicates and the average students used mental predicates.

보조사 '-요'의 음장 변화에 따른 청자의 지각 차이 비교 (A Comparative Study of Listener Perception of Durational Change in the Korean Auxiliary Particle '-yo')

  • This paper investigates whether listeners perceive a different level of politeness when the duration of the Korean sentence-final auxiliary particle '-yo' is varied. A total of 10 Korean sentences were manipulated by lengthening and shortening '-yo' by 10%, 20%, and 30%. The participants included native Korean speakers and Chinese and Japanese learners of Korean (n=10, respectively). They were asked to rate the level of politeness of the stimuli on a 9-point scale. It was found that Korean listeners perceived decreased politeness as the duration of '-yo' was shortened and increased politeness as it was lengthened. However, Chinese and Japanese listeners did not perceive a different level of politeness from the manipulated sentences. This finding suggests that it is important to teach L2 speakers that the duration of the auxiliary particle '-yo' plays a role in Korean listeners' perception of politeness.
