  • The purpose of this study is to identify effect in how urban garden is run by different operators in Korea, and consequently how it determines the level of community formation among urban garden users. Based on this analysis, the study is intended to present some points as to how to better manage urban garden. The operators are divided into three types: public, public-private partnership and private. The study interviewed each operating entity and surveyed garden users to gauge the extent to which communities are developed. After the ANOVA analysis and Scheffe post-hoc analysis, it was found that the levels of community formation among users of public and public-private partnership urban gardens were similar (so can be grouped together), whereas that of private urban garden users was higher (separated as another group). However, this study found no meaningful differences in the level of community formation among all types of urban garden in a local community. Some key suggestions are made as a result. First, as for the public and public-private partnership types of urban garden, it is necessary to foster leaders to build a community. Next, it is worth noting the potential of public-private partnership in realizing community revival through urban garden. The last suggestion is that, generally, the urban garden has only little influence on community formation in a local area so far, thus more practical consideration needs to be given to enhance the role of urban garden in a local community.

  • On-line community service should be considered with sociability and usability as well in website development because community in general is composed of various social factors. But, most on-line community services are developed and operated without having correct concepts and strategies concerning social factors. For that reason, community services in most web sites are not that successful. In this paper, twelve social factors are identified for developing community service evaluation system. Those factors are as follows: 1) Purpose, 2) Identity, 3) Reputation, 4) Governance, 5) Communication, 6) Groups, 7) Environment, 8) Boundaries, 9) Trust, 10) Exchange, 11) Expression, 12) History. Eight different types of community services are evaluated to see variations of 12 social factors. As a result, each types of community services has different types of value variations. The evaluation diagrams of each type will be used as a guideline for comparison and this comparative research will tell designers future development direction of their community services.

  • Dynamics of bacterial communities and its colonization under aerobic gemp retting were observed in air lift fermentor as a closed system, unlike conventional hemp retting as an open system. Dried hemp which was harvested in both 1986 and 1987 was retted at room temperature. Predominant community was facultatively anaerobic Gram-negative rods, and its density was increased from $3.0\times 10^{7}$ cells/ml to $9.0\times 10^{8}$ cells/ml. The density of facultatively nanerobic Gram-positive fods was maintained at the lovel of $5.0\times 10^{6}$ cells/m, and this Gram-positive bacterial community was not participated in retting. In the Gram-negative bacterial community during the retting, five types of colonieswere developed at early stage of pH7.0-8.0, and thereafter, only three types were colonized till later stage, shich were identified as pectolytic strain Erwinia salicis, Erwinia tracheiphila and Enterobacter agglomerans. A community of facultatively Gram-negative rods was mainly proliferated in stems and dispersed into liquor after 6-8 hours. Retting was terminated within 70-80 hours.

  • Community is crucial for human beings not only because they are born with communal self but also because social cooperation is more efficient than competition in many cases. Human beings are defined as Homo communicus living in residential community which is important for the fulfillment of their primary needs. Residential community is an 'intimacy zone' where personal and emotional interactions are made. This study aims at examining the health of residential community in Korea by exploring the level of place attachment and neighborhood trust. Previous studies indicate that place attachment and trust are influenced by three dimensions such as residents' characteristics, house types and regional environment. This study conducted a nationwide questionnaire survey and it shows that place attachment moulds neighborhood trust. The results of path analysis demonstrates that place attachment and trust appear high in detached house areas. Age of residents also gives positive influence on the level of place attachment and neighbourhood trust. This result gives significant policy implications for the development of residential community in Korea. Residential community as an intimacy zone has been eroded and desperately needs to be revitalized. For this, more concern should be given to the issue of desirable size of residential community and the types of houses. Detached house area must be supported by governmental policies.

These cases were grouped into 10 categories of collaboration activities: offering direct services through external venues utilizing external facilities; providing health education materials to partner agencies promoting health messages through media; running committees with collaborators inviting external experts; participating in external events; referring clients to external health services; connecting services; and miscellaneous. These types and cases were compared across community health promotion programs. Conclusion: Collaboration and partnership should be clearly defined for community health research and practice. Further research is needed to investigate the potential gap between plans for collaboration and actual collaboration activities, and to develop Korean models for collaboration building for community health promotion.

The method for this purpose was to search the articles and textbooks related to community assessment and review the contents by the researchers who were 5 community health nursing faculties and 1 doctoral candidate. The sources of articles were limited in Public Health Nursing and the Journal of Community Health Nursing. As the result, three types of conceptual model were classified: epideiological model. fuctional model. system model. System model by Newman and Helvie included more comprehensive concept of community health than others. Helvie model suggested the most specific indicators among them. The components of nursing diagnosis in the system model had the subjectives. problems and the related factors. It makes the nursing care plan related to the nursing diagnosis. But there was no nursing diagnosis system among the three model. It is needed to compare the nursing intervention based on the concept of 'Community as Client'. It will be helpful to the community health nursing practice to develop the nursing diagnosis system based on the system model. For the community health nursing education, it is suggested to try the case study by the using three types of model. Finally, it is needed to validate the community assessment tool in Korean setting.
