Interference always exists between wireless communication systems used in the same frequency band or adjacent frequency bands. In order to deploy a new wireless communication system such as a 5G system, a new frequency band must be allocated to the system. For this purpose, after analyzing interference between the existing system and the new system, a method of setting a frequency guard band or a minimum separation distance has been used as a passive method to limit the interference effect. This paper presents a wideband RF IRM(Interference Reduction Module) that can actively reduce the influence of interference between wireless communication systems. The wideband RF IRM can reduce the interference effects of 5G signals on satellite signals. The principle and structure of the wideband RF IRM are presented. The wideband RF IRM can suppress approximately 20dB of interference signal in 100MHz bandwidth when only interference signal exists. It also shows that when a 5G interference signal of -45dBm/100MHz and a satellite signal of -55dBm/40MHz exist simultaneously at a center frequency of 3.83GHz, about 15dB of 5G interference signal can be reduced in the frequency range covered by the satellite signal. The experimental results demonstrate that the wideband RF IRM can actively reduce the 5G interference signal on the satellite signal and can be used for the purpose of reducing the interference effect in a similar environment.

GaAs-based and InP-based HEMTs(High Electron Mobility Transistors) have good microwave and millimeter-wave frequency performance with lower minimum noise figure. GaAs-based MHEMTs(Metamorphic HEMTs) have some advantages, especially for cost, compared with InP-based ones. In this paper, the RF small-signal circuits of MHEMTs are simulated and analyzed for the design of millimeter-wave application systems. The simulation analysis for RF small-signal frequency can help and give some insights about the MHEMTs for the design of millimeter-wave application and communication systems.
In wireless sensor networks (WSNs) duty cycling has been an imperative choice to reduce idle listening but it introduces sleep delay. Thus, the conventional WSN medium access control protocols are bound by the energy-latency tradeoff. To break through the tradeoff, we propose a radio wave sensor called radio frequency (RF) wakeup sensor that is dedicated to sense the presence of a RF signal. The distinctive feature of our design is that the RF wakeup sensor can provide the same sensitivity but with two orders of magnitude less energy than the underlying RF module. With RF wakeup sensor a sensor node no longer requires duty cycling. Instead, it can maintain a sleep state until its RF wakeup sensor detects a communication signal. According to our analysis, the response time of the RF wakeup sensor is much shorter than the minimum transmission time of a typical communication module. Therefore, we apply duty cycling to the RF wakeup sensor to further reduce the energy consumption without performance degradation. We evaluate the circuital characteristics of our RF wakeup sensor design by using Advanced Design System 2009 simulator. The results show that RF wakeup sensor allows a sensor node to completely turn off their communication module by performing the around-the-clock carrier sensing while it consumes only 0.07% energy of an idle communication module.

In this paper, the design method of portable signal analysis system is proposed and the hardware module is implemented for operation of base stations based on a common platform for mobile WiMax. The new signal analysis method is implemented as two modules; a broadband RF module and a DSP based digital signal analysis module. The RF module performs the RF-IF down conversion and gain control. And the digital module measure the base staion signal. The differences of performance are insignificant in the experiment results performed through the comparison of other fixed-large system and proposed system.

Radio environment maps (REMs) and geolocation database represent an important source of information for the operation of cognitive radio networks, replacing or complementing spectrum sensing information. This paper provides a survey of methods for constructing the radio frequency layer of radio environment map (RF-REM) using distributed measurements of the signal levels at a given frequency in space and time. The signal level measurements can be obtained from fixed or mobile devices capable of sensing radio environment and sending this information to the REM. The signal measurements are complemented with information already stored in different REM content layers. The combined information is applied for estimation of the RF-REM layer. The RF-REM construction methods are compared, and their advantages and disadvantages with respect to the spatial distribution of signal measurements and computational complexity is given. This survey also indicates possible directions of further research in indirect RF-REM construction methods. It emphasizes that accurate RF-REM construction methods should in the best case support operation with random and clustered signal measurements, their operation should not be affected by measurements outliers, and it must estimate signal levels comparably on all RF-REM locations with moderate computational effort.

In this paper, we studied a spectrum sensing algorithm for the efficient use of available spectrum in RF energy harvesting system combined with backscatter communication. We first looked for white spaces and then, selected low fading channel among white spaces using spectrum sensing algorithm at a transmitter. The transmitter employing the algorithm alleviates signal interference and improves the received signal strength indication through signals transmitted by low fading channel. The proposed RF energy harvesting system combined with backscatter communication is used the transmitter employing the algorithm. As a result of computer simulations, we can find the performance improvements of RF energy harvesting, BER of backscatter communication, and the received signal strength per distance of backscatter tag.
WiBro radio frequency (RF) repeater is used for solving the problem of partial shadow areas in the wireless communication field that uses time-division duplexing (TDD) mode. In this paper, a method to efficiently generate TDD signals for WiBro RF repeater is proposed and its digital circuit is implemented. A TDD signal is detected from RF signals transmitted/received to/from RF repeater and then inputted again into the RF repeater, so that it can operate normally. First, the envelope of downlink signals is detected and then clamped to extract the basic form of a TDD signal using an operational amplifier circuit. Next, the TDD signal is generated by restoring and filtering the shape which has been distorted by the wireless channel. The algorithm and system to acquire TDD signal are developed with a goal to have simple but powerful functions with as little cost as possible. The proposed method is implemented as an RF-digital integrated system and verified through the experiments under the same condition as actual WiBro service environment.

The objective of this study is to estimate RF signal strength over sea and land surfaces. For this work we calculated scattering by land with DEM(Digital Elevation Model) and sea surface with RMS surface height. and we selected two area inland and sea shore as RX point. And for each area, we get VV-pol and HH-pol characteristic of scattering at 2.2GHz.

In this paper, the adaptive interference cancellation system (ICS) in order to cancel the feedback signal in the wireless communication system is proposed. We cancel the interference with the attenuation signal corresponding to the feedback signal and estimate the feedback signal by using Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) algorithm. The proposed scheme showed a better performance of interference cancellation in the measurement results.

In this paper, a system of self-interference signal cancelation for in-band full duplex has been implemented and tested in RF/analog region. The system performance has been evaluated with NI5791 platform and NI Flex RIO. Due to the low power level of the NI5791, the RF signal is amplified by SKYWORKS SE2565T power amplifier. A circulator is used to feed the antenna both the transmitter and receiver. The RF FIR filter is designed by twelve delay taps in two different groups, and the interval between each delay tap is designed to have 100 ps. The amplified signal is distributed to antenna and the FIR filter by use of a 10 dB directional coupler. The tap coefficients of the RF FIR filter are tuned to estimate the self-interference signal coming from antenna reflection and the leakage of the circulator, and the self-interference signal is subtracted. The system is test with 802.11a/g 20 MHz OFMD at 2.56 GHz, and the output power of the amplifier of 0 dBm. The self-interference signal is canceled out by 53 dB.
