High frequency common mode voltage produced by power inverters are a major cause of conducted EMI, creating motor ground currents, bearing currents and other harmful by products. This paper focuses on a new SVPWM method with random PWM injection to reduce conducted EMI noise. A New PWM technique associated with the common mode voltage can be significantly reducing and contributes to mitigate. The common mode voltage to $50\%$ in comparison with that for conventional SVPWM technique. Validation of the theory and reduction methods are then performed experiment ally based on an induction motor drive.
A PWM inverter with an induction motor often has a problem with a high frequency leakage current that flows through stray capacitor between stator windings and a motor frame to ground. This paper presents an equivalent circuit for high frequency leakage currents in PWM inverter feeding an induction motor, which forms an LCR series resonant circuit. A conventional common mode ckoke or reactor in series between the ac terminals of a PWM inverter and those of an ac motor is not effective to reduce the rms and average values of the leakage current, but effective to reduce the peak value. Furthermore, this paper proposes a leakage current damper which is different in damping principle from the conventional common mode choke. It is shown theoretically and experimentally that the leakage current damper is able to reduce the rms value of the leakage current to 25%, where the core used in the leakage current damper is smaller than that of the conventional common-mode choke
In this paper, an approach to reduce common-mode voltage (CMV) at the output of multilevel inverters using a phase opposition disposed (POD) sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique is proposed. The SPWM technique does not require computations therefore, this technique is easy to implement on-line in digital controllers. A good tradeoff between the quality of the output voltage and the magnitude of the CMV is achieved in this paper. This paper realizes the implementation of a POD-SPWM technique to reduce CMV using a five-level diode clamped inverter for a three phase induction motor. Experimental and simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed technique.

AC/AC power conversion is widely used to feed AC loads with a variable voltage and/or a variable frequency from a constant voltage constant frequency power grid or to connect critical loads to an unreliable power supply while delivering a very balanced and accurate sinusoidal voltage system of constant amplitude and frequency. The load specifications will clearly impose the requirements for the inverter stage of the power converter, while wider ranges of choices are available for the rectifier. This paper investigates the utilization of a buck-type current source rectifier as the active front-end stage of an AC/AC converter for applications that require an adjustable DC-link voltage as well as elimination of the low-frequency common mode voltage. The proposed solution is to utilize a combination of two or more zero current vectors in the Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique for Current Sources Rectifiers (CSR).
In this paper, an approach to reduce the common-mode voltage and to eliminate narrow pulse for implemented AC-DC matrix converters is presented. An improved space vector modulation (SVM) strategy is developed by replacing the zero space vectors with suitable pairs of active ones. Further, while considering the commutation time, the probability of narrow pulse in the conventional and proposed SVM methods are derived and compared. The advantages of the proposed scheme include: a 50% reduction in the peak value of the common-mode voltage; improved input and output performances; a reduction in the switching loss by a reduced number of switching commutations and a simplified implementation via software. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the correctness of the theoretical analysis, as well as the feasibility of the proposed strategy.
In this paper, the conducted EMI reduction performances of active feed-forward current-sensing current-actuation (CSCA) and voltage-sensing current-actuation (VSCA) filters for a three-phase induction motor drive system are evaluated by experiments. For comparison purposes, the conducted EMI (CM emission, DM emission and total emission) of a three-phase induction motor drive with a conventional CM choke, a conventional CM choke in series with an active VSCA filter, and an active CSCA filter (where the CM choke was modified and used as a sensing current transformer) were compared to the case of a system without any filter inserted. Experimental results show that the active CSCA and VSCA filters can improve the CM reduction performance of the conventional CM choke by about 5 dB especially at low-frequencies. However, for DM comparisons, it shows that there is no different between cases with and without filters inserted.
In this paper, a novel scheme to eliminate common-mode voltage (CMV) is proposed for three-level neutral-point clamped (NPC) inverters. In the proposed scheme, a low-power full-bridge converter is utilized to produce compensatory voltage for CMV, which is injected into an NPC inverter through a single-phase four-winding transformer. With the proposed circuit, the power range for applications is not limited, and the maximum modulation index of the inverter is not reduced. These features are suitable for high-power medium-voltage machine drives. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experimental results.

Most of malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems controlled by processors is occurred by the differential- and common-mode noises, and the electrical fast transient (EFT). The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has prepared the dummy signal to test the immunity level of the equipment. For the countermeasure against the differential- and common-mode noises, and the EFT, we designed, fabricated, and tested a new electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) filter, which is composed of feed-through capacitors and ferrite beads with high permeability. As a result, the filter showed excellent differential- and common-mode noises filtering, and immunity improving characteristics over the frequency band from 30 MHz to 1.5 GHz and 1.8 GHz, respectively.
This paper presents the analysis and design of an active electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter (AEF) for the common-mode (CM) noise reduction of switching power converters. The features of the several types of AEFs are discussed and compared in terms of implementation. The feed-forward AEF with a voltage-sensing and voltage-cancellation (VSVC) structure is implemented for an LLC resonant converter to replace a multiple-stage passive EMI filter and thereby reduce CM noise. The characteristics and performance of the VSVC-type AEF are investigated through theoretical and experimental works.
This paper proposes a new PWM method to reduce the common mode voltage change in three-level Vienna rectifier. This new proposed PWM method uses medium voltage vector for the three-level Vienna rectifier to determine the sum of three-phase voltage zero, and the common mode voltage variation is decreased. Using the carrier comparison method, the switching function generator for three-level Vienna rectifier has been proposed. The effects of the proposed PWM method have been verified through simulation using the PSIM.
