  • In this article, a more generalized form of the impact time and angle control guidance law is proposed based on the linear quadratic optimal control methodology. For the purpose on controlling an additional constraint such as the impact time, we introduce an additional state variable that is defined to be the jerk (acceleration rate). Additionally, in order to provide an additional degree of freedom in choosing the guidance gains, the performance index that minimizes the control energy weighted by an arbitrary order of time-to-go is considered in this work. First, the generalized form of the impact angle control guidance law with an additional term which is used for the impact time control is derived. And then, we also determine the additional term in order to achieve the desired impact time. Through numbers of numerical simulations, we investigate the superiority of the proposed guidance law compared to previous guidance laws. In addition, a salvo attack scenario with multiple missile systems is also demonstrated.

  • In order for a gun-launched guided projectile to glide to the maximum range, when to deploy the fin and start flight with guidance and control should be considered in range optimization process. This study suggests a solution to the optimal guidance problem for flight range maximization of the flight model of a guided projectile in vertical plane considering the aerodynamic properties. After converting the nonlinear Multi-Phase Optimal Control Problem to Two-Point Boundary Value Problem, the optimized guidance command and the best fin deployment timing are calculated by the proposed numerical method. The optimization results of the multiple flight rounds with various initial velocity and launch angle indicate that determining specific launch condition incorporated with the guidance scheme is of importance in terms of mechanical energy consumption.

  • A composite guidance scheme is proposed for air-to-ground anti-tank missiles launched from an airborne platform. Long-range anti-tank missiles usually use a fiber optic line (FOL) for the datalink between an operator and the missile to obtain real-time target information and to command the missile. Also, impact angle control is used to maximize the warhead effectiveness, but it should be carefully implemented due to interference between the launch platform and the FOL. Thus, the proposed guidance scheme takes into account both impact angle and FOL constraints. Under system lag and acceleration limits, a selection method of guidance gains and calculation logic of the maximum achievable impact angle are proposed for a guideline of practical implementation. The performance of the proposed guidance scheme is investigated by nonlinear simulations with various engagement conditions.

  • The surface-to-air missile system using Command to Line-Of-Sight (CLOS) guidance law is represented by complex nonlinear differential equations with 6 degree-of-freedom. This paper presents the characterictics of missile system and the effect of various error sources by Monte-Carlo simulation method. By simulation the part of playing a main role in the surface-to-air missile system is radar. Therefore for the performance of missile system the development of the technique reducing the error of radar is required. And the effect of accelerometer error is a few large, too. But, because accelerometer costs cheap this problem is solved easily. And the main error source of missile system data is the thrust, which affects directly to acceleration. The result is the important information about designing and fabricating missile system. And this makes the missile system best because of sharing elaborate and expense effectively.

  • This paper designed LOCOMOTION SYSTEM of a mobile robot for the blind guidance and LOCOMOTION COMMAND SYSTEM that gave the moving path to the locomotion system. This system analyzed COMMAND and calculated the speed and direction of the robot. And during locomotion it measured wheel's rotation number for the position and speed control. Also, this system was considered about the 110 interface with host computer and the locomotion method for the blind. In the locomotion experiment the standard speed of robot was 0.4m/sec and the locomotion error was below 5%

  • The control law for simultaneous pressure and thrust control of solid DACS(Divert Attitude Control System) is suggested. To regulate the two variables effectively, the control structure of sequential loop closer is applied to the system considering the physical characteristics of each variable and the weighted pseudo-inverse method is suggested to allocate effective command for indeterminate system. Also, the pressure guidance law for safe and high acceleration is applied to the homing stage to verify the effectiveness of the command distribution.

  • In this paper, nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) is addressed to develop formation guidance for multiple unmanned aerial vehicles. An NMPC algorithm predicts the behavior of a system over a receding time horizon, and the NMPC generates the optimal control commands for the horizon. The first input command is, then, applied to the system and this procedure repeats at each time step. The input constraint and state constraint for formation flight and inter-collision avoidance are considered in the proposed NMPC framework. The performance of NMPC for formation guidance critically degrades when there exists a communication failure. In order to address this problem, the modified optimal guidance law using only line-of-sight, relative distance, and own motion information is presented. If this information can be measured or estimated, the proposed formation guidance is sustainable with the communication failure. The performance of this approach is validated by numerical simulations.

  • This paper presents polar converting logic(PCL) of BTT missiles against slowly moving or stationary targets. A guidance commands expressed in rectangular coordinates must be converted in the form of polar coordinates for BTT control. Since conventional PCL has nonlinear and discontinuous function, the missiles may lose controllability when pitch acceleration command equals to zero. Further, roll coupling may have a serious unstabilizing influence on homing guidance with two gimbals seeker. In this paper, a linear homotopy equation is introduced to improve the controllability and a command following performance at midcourse phase. We also design a PCL which is less sensitive to pitch acceleration command so that it may improve the stability of the homing loop. To substantiate our conclusion, results of the computer simulation have been illustrated.

  • In this paper, an effective filter structure for filtering of target glint in tracking radar systems is used to improve the performance of CLOS(Command to Line-Of-Sight) guidance. The filter decouples range and angel channels to that it has a sound mathematical basis as well as computation efficiency as applied to the IMM algorithm. The effective filter structure in conjunction with CLOS guidance is tested by a series of simulation runs and it is shown to have superior performance compared with the other filter structures.

  • In this paper, we consider an optimal guidance problem with both the terminal impact angle and control constraints in addition to the usual zero miss distance constraint. We first present the optimal solution of the problem for the missile of an arbitrary order, and show that it is a linear combination of a step response and a ramp response of the missile. Therefore the usual practice of using the control obtained by saturating the optimal solution for the case of unlimited control may result in a large terminal miss. A method called the initial command saturation is suggested to reduce this terminal miss, where the control in the initial phase of guidance is forced to be saturated until a certain condition for a guidance variable is met.
