Types of Media Combination and Strategy of Interactivity in Digital Signage: A Case Study in view of Media Creative (디지털 사이니지의 매체결합 유형과 상호작용 전략 -유형별 미디어 크리에이티브 사례분석을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to suggest practical ways to interact effectively with consumers based on current situation of 'media creative' and media use patterns. Cases of digital signage are reviewed in the perspective of cross media, and the strategic meanings of cross media are explored according to interactivity. Results are collected through 'Naver' search engine service, and can be possibly assorted into five media combined types: SNS-combined, QR codes or Augmented Reality(AR)-combined, Brand App(application)-combined, Online to Offline-combined, and Behavioral factors-combined ones. Some strategic suggestions on media creative are given for effective interaction with consumers.

  • A proper pathologic diagnosis of small cell lung cancer(SCLC) is essential for the application of aggressive treatment modalities. However, various authors have suggested several subtypes of SCLC based on morphological features. Among them, the incidence of small cell lung cancer(SCLC) combined with squamous cell and/or adenocarcinoma, represents less than 1% to 3% of all SCLC tumors. Because of the rarity of SCLC combined with squamous cell and/or adenocarcinoma, very little is known about its clinical characteristics and response to therapy. We report a case of SCLC combined with squamous cell and adenocarcinoma in a 68 year old male who experienced pneumonectomy of the left lung.

The Effects of Combined Training on the Physical Fitness of Male Short Distance Athletes -A Case Study- (복합트레이닝이 남자육상 단거리 선수의 체력에 미치는 효과 -단일 사례 연구-)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of combined training on the physical fitness of male short distance athletes. Methods: Combined training was applied with CLT and isokinetric training three times a week for eight weeks. For CLT, elastic bands were used in the sitting and standing positions to gradually increase sprint and skating movements. Isokinetic training was conducted at $60^{\circ}/sec$ and $180^{\circ}/sec$ to improve muscle strength and muscle power. Results: After the application of combined training, strength (hand force) improved from 42.25 kg to 47.30 kg. Muscle power for standing long jump improved from 240.00 cm to 248.80 cm, while the sergeant jump improved from 55.00 cm to 58.00 cm. Isokinetic testing showed that muscle strength ($60^{\circ}/sec$) improved from 315.65 %BW to 365.79 %BW for the left extensor and from 306.60 %BW to 325.00 %BW for the right extensor. The left flexor improved from 177.23 %BW to 189.47 %BW, but the right flexor decreased slightly from 210.87 %BW to 201.53 %BW. Muscle power ($180^{\circ}/sec$) improved from 254.00 %BW to 293.00 %BW for the left extensor and from 256.00 %BW to 272.00 %BW for the right extensor. The left flexor improved from 150.00 %BW to 162.00 %BW and the right flexor from 145.25 %BW to 182.00 %BW. Conclusion: Combined training could be used as a physical training program for male short distance athletes.

Combined bi-borehole technology for grouting and blocking of flowing water in karst conduits: Numerical investigation and engineering application

  • A newly proposed grouting simulation method, the sequential diffusion solidification method was introduced into the numerical simulation of combined bi-borehole grouting. The traditional, critical and difficult numerical problem for the temporal and spatial variation simulation of the slurry is solved. Thus, numerical simulation of grouting and blocking of flowing water in karst conduits is realized and the mechanism understanding of the combined bi-borehole technology is promoted. The sensitivity analysis of the influence factors of combined bi-borehole grouting was investigated. Through orthogonal experiment, the influences of proximal and distal slurry properties, the initial flow velocity of the conduit and the proximal and distal slurry injection rate on the blocking efficiency are compared. The velocity variation, pressure variation and slurry deposition phenomenon were monitored, and the flow field characteristics and slurry outflow behavior were analyzed. The interaction mechanism between the proximal and distal slurries in the combined bi-borehole grouting is revealed. The results show that, under the orthogonal experiment conditions, the slurry injection rate has the greatest impact on blocking. With a constant slurry injection rate, the blocking efficiency can be increased by more than 30% when using slurry with weak time-dependent viscosity behavior in the distal borehole and slurry with strong time-dependent viscosity behavior in the proximal borehole respectively. According to the results of numerical simulation, the grouting scheme of "intercept the flow from the proximal borehole by quick-setting slurry, and grout cement slurry from the distal borehole" is put forward and successfully applied to the water inflow treatment project of China Resources Cement (Pingnan) Limestone Mine.

Combined antimicrobial effect of two peptide nucleic acids against Staphylococcus aureus and S. pseudintermedius veterinary isolates

  • Background: Staphylococcus aureus and S. pseudintermedius are the major etiological agents of staphylococcal infections in humans, livestock, and companion animals. The misuse of antimicrobial drugs has led to the emergence of antimicrobial-resistant Staphylococcus spp., including methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-resistant S. pseudintermedius (MRSP). One novel therapeutic approach against MRSA and MRSP is a peptide nucleic acid (PNA) that can bind to the target nucleotide strands and block expression. Previously, two PNAs conjugated with cell-penetrating peptides (P-PNAs), antisense PNA (ASP)-cmk and ASP-deoD, targeting two essential genes in S. aureus, were constructed, and their antibacterial activities were analyzed. Objectives: This study analyzed the combined antibacterial effects of P-PNAs on S. aureus and S. pseudintermedius clinical isolates. Methods: S. aureus ATCC 29740 cells were treated simultaneously with serially diluted ASP-cmk and ASP-deoD, and the minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were measured. The combined P-PNA mixture was then treated with S. aureus and S. pseudintermedius veterinary isolates at the determined MIC, and the antibacterial effect was examined. Results: The combined treatment of two P-PNAs showed higher antibacterial activity than the individual treatments. The MICs of two individual P-PNAs were 20 and 25 µM, whereas that of the combined treatment was 10 µM. The application of a combined treatment to clinical Staphylococcus spp. revealed S. aureus isolates to be resistant to P-PNAs and S. pseudintermedius isolates to be susceptible. Conclusions: These observations highlight the complexity of designing ASPs with high efficacy for potential applications in treating staphylococcal infections in humans and animals.

Effects of Germanium Treatment on Germanium Concentration and Flower Development in Winter Pruned Branches in 'Niitaka' Pear Trees ('신고'배 과원에서 게르마늄 처리방법이 동계전정된 가지의 게르마늄 함량과 화아에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was established on which germanium (Ge), known as one of the functional nutrients, treatment is the most effective method for increasing Ge uptake and contributing flowering development in the pruned branches in the winter. Ge treatment included foliar application, soil fertigation, trunk injection, and the three-combined application. Ge concentration in the pruned branches was greater on the three-combined treated trees, and Ge treated branches had greater Ge concentrations than the control. Pruned branches grown in the solution culture had greater bud weight and bud scale number on the Ge treated trees than the control. Ge treatments increased flowering per branch and flower number per bud as well as improved resistance of the freezing temperature damage. Overall, there were no consistent results of all the variables by the Ge application methods.

TISSUE REACTION FOLLOWING BY COMBINATION OF DISTRACTION AND COMPRESSION FORCE ON DISTRACTION OSTEOGENESIS OF THE MANDIBLE IN THE RAT (백서 하악골에서 신연골형성술시 신장력과 수축력 복합적용후의 조직반응)

  • Distraction osteogenesis is a biologic process of new bone formation between the surfaces of bone segments that are gradually separated by incremental traction. Distraction osteogenesis is clinically applied as a new treatment modality of mandibular hypoplasia or bony defect area in maxillofacial area by many studies of distraction devices and method. But, disadvantages of distraction osteogenesis shows unfavorably long consolidation period and relapse tendency. Therefore, this experiment was designed to investigate the effectiveness of combined application of distraction and compression force for improving of bone quality and shortening of treatment period during distraction osteogenesis. Twenty-five Sprague-Dawley rats with $300{\sim}350gm$ were used. These were divided into two group as distraction group and combination group. The distraction group was added with conventional method during distraction osteogenesis, but the combination group was applied with compression force in the consolidation period. The rats were sacrificed for gross finding, radiographic and histologic findings at 3, 6 weeks after distraction. The results were as follow: 1. On radiographic finding, all combination of distraction and compression force group appeared more radiopacity than distraction group both at 3 weeks and 6 weeks after distraction group. 2. On histologic finding, the formation of mature lamellar bone were showed increasingly in combined group at 6weeks after distraction group. From this study, we may suggest that compression force application in consolidation period during distraction osteogenesis can be useful method to improve bone quality and to shorten the treatment period. But more experimental and clinical studies is necessitated on ideal application timing and method of compression force application during distraction osteogenesis.

  • The purpose of this report is to obtain a practical expression for estimating the compressive strength of concrete using the non-destructive method of testing combining rebound number and ultrasonic pulse velocity at the construction sites for obtaining highest accuracy in predicting the compressive strength.

Numerical Reconstruction and Pattern Recognition using Integral Imaging

  • In this invited paper, numerical reconstruction and pattern recognition using integral imaging are overviewed. The computational integral imaging method reconstructs three-dimensional information at arbitrary depth-levels. Photon-counting nonlinear matched filtering combined with the computational reconstruction provides promising results for the application of low-light level recognition.
