  • This study presents the combined effect of electric field application and mechanical compressive stress loading on deformation in a multilayer ceramic actuator, designed with stacking 0.2($PbMn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}O_{3}$)-0.8($PbZr_{0.475}Ti_{0.525}O_{3}$) ceramics and Ag-Pd electrode, alternately. The deformation behaviors were attributed to relative $180^{\circ}$domain, determined by pre-loaded compressive stress and electric field. The non-linearity of piezoelectricity and strain are dependent upon the young's modulus resulting from the domain reorientation.

  • A space diversity technique was applied to the conventional optimal beamforming structure using antenna arrays at the base station receiver in the wireless mobile communication system to get performance enhancement due to interference rejection and fading resistance ability of it. To demonstrate the benefit of proposed system, we derived output signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) of combined signal from all sub-array groups considering the fading effects and compared with the beamforming-only system. From the analysis and simulation results, we showed that the proposed system can provide high performance gain under Rayleigh fading channel.

  • In this study, the author provided a discussion on one dimensional Laplace and Fourier transforms with their applications. It is shown that the combined use of exponential operators and integral transforms provides a powerful tool to solve space fractional partial differential equation with non - constant coefficients. The object of the present article is to extend the application of the joint Fourier - Laplace transform to derive an analytical solution for a variety of time fractional non - homogeneous KdV. Numerous exercises and examples presented throughout the paper.

  • Chromosomal microarray (CMA) is primarily recommended for detecting clinically significant copy number variants (CNVs) in the genetic diagnosis of developmental delay, intellectual disability, autism, and congenital malformations. Prenatal CMA is recommended when a fetus has major congenital malformations. The main principles of CMA can be divided into array comparative genomic hybridization and single-nucleotide polymorphism arrays. In the current CMA platforms, these two principles are combined, and detection of genetic abnormalities including CNVs and absence of heterozygosity is facilitated. In this review, I described practical assessment of CMA testing regarding to laboratory management of CMA, interpretation of CNVs, and special considerations for comprehensive genetic counseling.

  • This paper presents the Frobenius endomorphism on generalized Huff curve and provides the characteristic polynomial of the map. By applying the Frobenius endomorphism on generalized Huff curve, we construct a skew-Frobenius map defined on the quadratic twist of a generalized Huff curve. This map offers an efficiently computable homomorphism for performing scalar multiplication on the generalized Huff curve over a finite field. As an application, we describe the GLV method combined with the Frobenius endomorphism over the curve to speed up the scalar multiplication.

  • In order to establish a effective application method of compost and phosphorus fertilizer for rice plant, a field experiment has been conducted and the variation of the organic matter content in soils has been observed. The results may be summarized as follows. 1. It was more effective to split the application time into basic and in 2 weeks before the young premodia formation for the yield increase of rice grain than to applicate once basic, and it was apparent that the lesser amount of organic matter during the growing period of rice was consumed, the higher yield of rice grain was resulted. 2. The combined application of compost and phosphorus fertilizer showed a tendency to raise higher the grain yield than the separated application. 3. It was suggested that the split application of compost bring yield increase of rice grain.

  • The application of compressive sensing (CS) to a radar imaging system based on a frequency-scanned microstrip leaky wave antenna is investigated. First, an analytical model of the system matrix is formulated as the basis for the inversion algorithm. Then, $L_1-norm$ minimization is applied to the inverse problem to generate a range-azimuth image of the scene. Because of the antenna length, the near-field effect is considered in the CS formulation to properly image close-in targets. The resolving capability of the combined frequency-scanned antenna and CS processing is examined and compared to results based on the short-time Fourier transform and the pseudo-inverse. Both simulation and measurement data are tested to show the system performance in terms of image resolution.

  • This paper presents the practical use of high strength concrete on 28-story Samsung Shin-dacbang Housing-Commercial Combined Building with 8-story basements located in Seoul. 700 Kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ compressive Strength concrete was placed for basement core-walls and 500 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ concrete was used for structural frames up to 10th floor. The thermal sensors were installed prior to concrete casting into the core walls to measure the heat of hydration during hardening process. The correlation of core strength to the standard cylinder test strength was also discussed. The successful utilization of 500 and 700 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ concrete shows that the practical application of high strength concrete has a great potential to the high-rise R.C building construction.

  • This paper is presented on the antenna design for notepc platform. We present the antenna with combination of electric-magnetic radiator for dual-band Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) service and a High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) service. Due to the limited antenna space in notepc platform, the antennas for various wireless communication service should be located at a very small area. In this paper, the magnetic-type radiator works for high frequency band (1.7 - 2.1 GHz) application and the electric-type radiator works for low frequency band (820 - 960 MHz) application. This combination produces wide-band characteristics in the high frequency band. Simulation and experimental results of input impedance and gain characteristics of the proposed antenna are presented. There are good agreements between the simulated and measured S11 and gain values.
