  • The anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum species is well-known as a major plant pathogen that primarily causes fruit rot in pepper and reduces its marketability. Thirty-five isolates representing species of Colletotrichum were obtained from chili fruits showing anthracnose disease symptoms in Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. These 35 isolates were characterized according to morphological characteristics and nucleotide sequence data of internal transcribed spacer, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate-dehydrogenase, and ${\beta}$-tubulin. The combined dataset shows that all of these 35 isolates were identified as C. scovillei and morphological characteristics were directly correlated with the nucleotide sequence data. Notably, these isolates were recorded for the first time as the causes of anthracnose caused by C. scovillei on pepper in Korea. Forty cultivars were used to investigate the pathogenicity and to identify the possible source of resistance. The result reveals that all of chili cultivars used in this study are susceptible to C. scovillei.

  • A passive launch and on-orbit vibration isolator using SMA(Shape Memory Alloy) washer for both the structural safety of the micro-vibration source by attenuating the transmitted force under launch loads and the micro-vibration isolation during their on-orbit operation has been proposed, which does not require the additional launch locking mechanism. To measure the characteristics of SMA mesh washer, we performed compressive loading tests with a single SMA mesh washer and a vibration isolator using SMA mesh washer. The numerical equivalent model of vibration isolator using SMA mesh washer composed of two spring and viscous damping elements has been verified that both stiffness and viscous damping varied with respect to compressed deformations. In addition, the effectiveness of launch loads and micro-vibration reduction has been investigated through the dynamic characteristics measurement test of cooler assembly combined with passive vibration isolator.

  • Cavitation is the dominant noise source of the marine vehicle. Of the various types of cavitation , tip vortex cavitation is the first appearance type of marine propeller cavitation and it generates high frequency noise. In this study, tip vortex cavitation behavior and noise are numerically investigated. A numerical scheme using Eulerian flow field computation and Lagrangian particle trace approach is applied to simulate the tip vortex cavitation on the hydrofoil. Vortex flow field is simulated by combined Moore and Saffman's vortex core radius equation and Sculley vortex model. Tip vortex cavitation behavior is analyzed by coupled Rayleigh-Plesset equation and trajectory equation. The cavitation nuclei are distributed and released in the vortex flow result. Vortex cavitation trajectories and radius variations are computed according to nuclei initial size. Noise is analyzed using time dependent cavitation bubble position and radius data. This study may lay the foundation for future work on vortex cavitation study and it will provide a basis for proper underwater propeller noise control strategies.

  • Injected fuel pressure waves of a common rail injector with various current profiles supplied to the injecor were measured using Bosch method. In order to drive the common rail injector, the current in the solenoid should be controlled using what is known as a peak and hold pattern, which consists of a high current level with a short time duration (peak) in the first step and a low current level with a long time duration (hold) in the subsequent step. The current profile can be shaped by swithcing an injector driving power source with the peak and hold waves. The capture, compare and PWM (CCP) pin in the microprocessor was used to generate the combined peak and hold waves. The PWM square wave generated from the CCP pin has a duty ratio of 100% for the peak current and 10% or 30% for the hold pattern. Five patterns of the current profile were generated by combining the peak and hold wave. The common rail pressure is controlled at 75, 100, and 130 MPa. As the fuel rail pressure increases, the variations of the measured fuel injection pressure wave according to the current profiles decrease.

  • Objectives : To determine the effectiveness of Baduanjin for hypertension Methods : We searched 8 electronic databases(Pubmed, CAJ, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, KISS, KISTI, NDSL, RISS) up to April 2017. We included randomized controlled trials(RCTs) using Badanjin for hypertension. The methodological quality of each RCT was assessed by the Cochrane risk of bias tool. Results : 14 RCT studies were eligible in our review. 14 studies were divided into 4 groups, and 2 of them were meta-analysised. The meta-analysis of 10 studies showed favorable results for the use of Baduanjin with Usual care than Usual care. But, meta-analysis of 2 studies showed Baduanjin and Usual care has no difference. High risk of bias were observed in all studies. Conclusions : Although there are favorable results with meta-analysis, our systematic review are highly dependent on the single source of Chinese electrical database, CAJ. Now limited evidence is available to support Baduanjin combined usual care for hypertension and further well-designed RCTs should be encouraged.

  • Silicon nitride films were deposited at $100^{\circ}C$ by using the catalytic chemical vapor deposition technique. The source gas mixing ratio, $R_N=[NH_3]/[SiH_4]$, was varied from 10 to 30, and the hydrogen dilution ratio, $R_H=[H_2]/[SiH_4]$, was varied from 20 to 100. The breakdown field strength reached a maximum value at $R_N=20$ and $R_H=20$, whereas the resistivity decreased in the same sample. The relative permittivity had a positive correlation with the breakdown field strength. The capacitance-voltage threshold curve showed an asymmetric hysteresis loop, which became more squared as $R_H$ increased. The width of the hysteresis window showed a negative correlation with the slope of the transition region, implying that the combined effect of $R_N$ and $R_H$ overides the interface defects while creating charge storage sites in the bulk region.

  • In the international BISDN used satellite, the laser that has large BW has to be used as a carrier for transmitting a lot of visual, vocal, and data information. Interoptical satellite communication has now developed in theoretical and practical aspects. But the optical communication, between satellite and earth station, is hindered by atmospheric absorption, scattering, and turbulence. In this paper, it was supposed that 1Gbps information was transmitted by binary FSK and 50mW AlGaAs semiconductor laser was used as a optical source in the satellite communication link between geosynchronous orbit satellite and earth station. We analyzed the BER and the entire diameter of the noncoherently combined optical heterodyne receiver as el evation angle, and determined the number of the optical heterodyne rece ivers, which is necessary for the BER of the receiver to be less than 10$^{-9}$ by computer simulation under the clear weather condition. It is shown that the BER and the number of the optical heterodyne receivers decrease as the elevation angle increases. In the region used the same number of the optical heterodyne receivers, it is shown that the entire diameter of the receiver increases but the BER decreases as the elevation angle increases.

  • The 2.5 GeV linac of the Pohang Light Source(PLS) is planed to be converted to a XFEL. The PAL XFEL requires a new 1.2-GeV linac that will be combined to the existing linac to increase a beam energy upto 3.7 GeV. The RF stability of 0.02 % is required for both RF phase and amplitude to get the XFEL output. This stability is mainly determined by a low level RF drive system and klystron-modulators. The stability level of the modulator has to be improved 10 times better to meet the pulse stability of 0.02 %. The regulation methods such as traditional de-Qing and precision inverter charging technology are reviewed to find out suitable upgrade scheme of the modulators.

  • $In_2O_3$ thin-film transistors (TFTs) were fabricated on various dielectrics [$SiO_2$ and self-assembled nanodielectrics (SANDs)] by spin-coating a $In_2O_3$ film precursor solution consisting of methoxyethanol (solvent), ethanolamine (EAA, base), and $InCl_3$ as the $In^{3+}$ source. Importantly, an optimized film microstructure characterized by the high-mobility $In_2O_3$ 004 phase, is obtained only within a well-defined base: $In^{3+}$ molar ratio. The greatest electron mobilities of ~ 44 $cm^2$, for EAA:$In^{3+}$ molar ratio = 10, $V^{-1}s^{-1}$, is measured for $n^+$-Si/SAND/$In_2O_3$/Au devices. This result combined with the high $I_{on}:I_{off}$ ratios of ~ $10^6$ and very low operating voltages (< 5 V) is encouraging for high-speed applications.
