The purpose of this paper is to suggest a method for detecting the linear regression change-points or variance change-points in regression model by the combination of Schwarz information criteria. The advantage of the suggested method is to detect change-points more detailed when one compares the suggest method with Chen (1998)'s method.

In this paper, the spline hazard rate model to the randomly censored data is introduced. The unknown hazard rate function is expressed as a linear combination of B-splines which is constrained to be linear(or constant) in tails. We determine the coefficients of the linear combination by maximizing the likelihood function. The number of knots are determined by Bayesian Information Criterion. Examples using simulated data are used to illustrate the performance of this method under presenting the random censoring.

An optimization approach is used to solve the division problem of working area, and a cost function is defined to represent the constraints on the solution, which is then mapped onto the Hopfield neural network for minimization. Each neuron in the network represents a possible combination among many components. Division is achieved by initializing each neuron that represents a possible combination and then allowing the network settle down into a stable state. The network uses the initialized inputs and the compatibility measures among components in order to divide working area.

In order to solve social exclusion and segregation phenomenon and to realize social integration, the necessity of social combination and consensus has been presented and existing conception about the public lease apartment confronts a turning point due to the diversification of apartment supply system. With this social background, Eunpyeong New Town Project implemented by Seoul Metropolitan Government is the first example that supplied diverse apartments for social integration. Survey was made upon the residents aged 20 and over and living in combination apartments, lease apartments and common apartments for private ownership in the Enpyeong New Town Apartment Complex in section 1 area, and the survey sheets filled up by the respondents were collected by personal visits or by using specified gathering spots. Summary of study results is as follows: Firstly, regarding the combination method, respondents preferred the irregular combination of lease apartment units and common apartment units in the same apartment building at the top, analyzing by survey groups marked that residents of common apartment with initial ownership responded not to choose combination apartment complex or combination apartment in future. Secondly, the living consciousness with neighbors revealed that respondents were generally satisfied without difference between the residents of lease apartment and common apartment. As the demand and policies for diverse lease apartments are increasing recently, Eunpyeong New Town Project aimed for positive social integration and consensus will be evaluated as model case for social combination apartment in future. And it is necessary to introduce the policies that consider the differences in consciousness and interest of the residents among the lease apartments and common apartments.

Previous studies reported that Bifidobacterium animalis ssp. lactis HY8002 (HY8002) improved intestinal integrity and had immunomodulatory effects. Lactobacillus plantarum HY7717 (HY7717) was screened in vitro from among 21 other lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and demonstrated nitric oxide (NO) production. The aims of this study were to investigate the individual and combined ex vivo and in vivo effects of LAB strains HY8002 and HY7717 at immunostimulating mice that have been challenged with an immunosuppressant drug. The combination of HY8002 and HY7717 increased the secretion of cytokines such as interferon (IFN)-γ, interleukin (IL)-12, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α in splenocytes. In a cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced immunosuppression model, administration of the foregoing LAB combination improved the splenic and hematological indices, activated natural killer (NK) cells, and up-regulated plasma immunoglobulins and cytokines. Moreover, this combination treatment increased Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) expression. The ability of the combination treatment to upregulate IFN-γ and TNF-α in the splenocytes was inhibited by anti-TLR2 antibody. Hence, the immune responses stimulated by the combination of HY8002 and HY7717 are associated with TLR2 activation. The preceding findings suggest that the combination of the HY8002 and HY7717 LAB strains could prove to be a beneficial and efficacious immunostimulant probiotic supplement. The combination of the two probiotic strains will be applied on the dairy foods including yogurt and cheese.

This study provides an in-depth comparison and analysis of various risk assessment models widely used in modern industries, and proposes the most suitable model for risk assessment of offshore wind power in Korea. The assessment models were selected by considering various factors such as the purpose of risk assessment, stakeholder requirements, and characteristics of offshore wind power. We also emphasized the importance of using different risk assessment models in combination in situations of high uncertainty. To systematize the combination of risk assessment models, we used systems engineering which is effective to develop a new system. Systems engineering was used to define the complete, traceable functions from site requirements, and model-based systems engineering was used to manage the design information from requirements to detailed functions in a single model. The developed risk assessment module provide automatic conversion between risk assessment models to enable risk assessment suitable for offshore wind power. The functionality and usability of the offshore wind risk assessment module were verified by the evaluation of three wind power experts.

Those who are interested in making inferences concerning linear combination of valiance components in a simple linear regression model with unbalanced nested error structure can use the confidence intervals proposed in this paper. Two approximate confidence intervals for the sum of two variance components in the model are proposed. Simulation study is peformed to compare the methods. The methods are applied to a numerical example and recommendations are given for choosing a proper interval.

This study involves the estimation of optimal ranges of parameters for a linear watershed model. A well-known TANK model was chosen and a linear combination of four tanks assumed. The model was used to simulate daily streamflow for six watersheds of different sizes and by a trial-and-error approach a set of optimal parameters defined. The parameters were related to watershed sizes and land use conditions. Optimal parameters for ungaged conditions were defined from the relationships; daily streamflow simulated and compared to the observed date. The simulated results were in a general agreement with the data.

The methyl group does not possess an unshared pair of electrons. But F.A. Matsen has introduced the concept of the methyl group as a Pseudo-heteroatom which contributes a pair of electrons to ${\pi}$ system. In this heteroatom model, A. Streitwieser et al have assumed that the electrons in a methyl group behave to their approximation as a single electron pair on a single atom. But the theoretical basis on the heteroatom model hyper-conjugation has not studied yet. In this paper, Linear combination of Bond orbital and group theory is used to investigate the theoretical basis for it.
