Color Similarity Definition Based on Quantized Color Histogram for Clothing Identification

  • In this paper, we present a method to define a color similarity between color images using Octree-based quantization and similar color integration. The proposed method defines major colors from each image using Octree-based quantization. Two color palettes to consist of major colors are compared based on Euclidean distance and similar color bins between palettes are matched. Multiple matched color bins are integrated and major colors are adjusted. Color histogram based on the color palette is constructed for each image and the difference between two histograms is computed by the weighted Euclidean distance between the matched color bins in consideration of the frequency of each bin. As an experiment to validate the usefulness, we discriminated the same clothing from CCD camera images based on the proposed color similarity analysis. We retrieved the same clothing images with the success rate of 88 % using only color analysis without texture analysis.

Digital Library를 위한 텍스타일 프린트 디자인의 이미지 유사성 평가 (Similarity Evaluation on Images of Textile Print Design for Digital Library)

  • 이미지의 유사성을 결정하는 요인을 톤(tone), 즉 명도와 채도로 결정하여 정보 엔트로피를 계산하여 상관 계수를 계산하였다. 이미지의 톤을 알아보기 위해 영상정보의 색 공간을 RGB color space에서 HSI color space로 전환하였다. 이후 유사성을 판단하기 위해 이미지의 전체 픽셀수가 아닌 엔트로피 값의 범위에 따라 전체 70%의 픽셀 또는 이미지를 가장 많이 구성하는 세 가지 톤의 픽셀 수에 의해 결정되었다. 'Romantic'이라는 인간의 감성으로 판단된 18개의 영상정보를 선정하여 위의 모델을 적용, 이미지 유사성을 판단하였다.

이미지 유사도를 이용한 와인라벨 인식 시스템 (Wine Label Recognition System using Image Similarity)

  • 최근 휴대폰 카메라로 촬영한 영상을 입력으로 사용하는 시스템에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 와인라벨의 문자를 인식한 후, 데이터베이스내의 와인이미지들 중에서 입력 와인라벨 이미지와 유사한 순서대로 사용자에게 보여주는 시스템을 제안한다. 이미지의 유사도 계산을 위해 본 논문에서는 이미지의 각 영역별 대표색상, 텍스트 영역의 텍스트 색상과 배경색상, 그리고 특징점의 분포를 특징으로 사용한다. 이미지의 색상차를 계산하기 위해 RGB색상을 CIE-Lab색상으로 변환하여 사용하고, 특징점은 해리스코너 검출 알고리즘을 사용하여 추출한다. 각 셀의 대표 색상차와 텍스트 색상차 및 배경 색상차는 가중치를 적용하여 색상차 유사도를 계산하고 색상차 유사도와 특징점 분포 유사도를 정규화하여 최종 이미지 유사도를 구한다. 본 논문에서는 입력 이미지와 데이터베이스내의 이미지 간의 유사도를 계산하여 유사도 순으로 사용자에게 검색 결과를 보여줌으로써 검색 결과로부터 다시 최대 유사 와인라벨을 수동으로 찾는 노력을 줄일 수 있다.

색도 및 색순에 따른 그라비아 인쇄 공정의 작업 순서 결정 규칙 (Dispatching Rule based on Chromaticity and Color Sequence Priorities for the Gravure Printing Operation)

  • This paper presents a method to measure the similarity of assigned jobs in the gravure printing operation based on the chromaticity and color sequence, and order the jobs accordingly. The proposed dispatching rule can be used to fulfill diverse manufacturing site requirements because the parameters can be adjusted to prioritize chromaticity and color sequence. In general, dispatching rules either ignore the job-changing time or require that the time be clearly defined. However, in the gravure printing operation targeted in this study, it is difficult to apply the general dispatching rule because of the difficulties in quantifying the job-changing time. Therefore, we propose a method for generalizing assignment rules of the job planner, allocating relative similarity among assigned jobs, and determining the sequence of jobs accordingly. Chromaticity priority is determined by the arrangement of the color assignments in the printing operation; color sequence priority is determined by the addition, deletion, or change in a specific color sequence. Finally, the job similarity is determined by the dot product of the chromaticity and color sequence priorities. Implementation of the proposed dispatching rule at an actual manufacturing site showed the planner present the same job order as that obtained using the proposed rule. Therefore, this rule is expected to be useful in industrial sites where clear quantification of the job-changing time is not possible.

한.일 전통극의 색채문화 비교 (The Comparison of Cultural Color in Traditional Performance of Korea and Japan)

  • The purpose of this study is to research the similarity and difference of color application in the culture of Korea and Japan. The subject of this research is the costume color of Changgeuk and Kabuki. This survey analyzes Munsell's 3 attributes(Hue, Value, Chroma), tone, and 3D color analysis by extracted color data. And representative color according to Obangsaek is proposed. The results of this study are as follows: 1. High chroma red in Kabuki costume is more used as symbolic color(passion and luxurious) in order to show character's personality than that in Changguek costume. 2. Low chroma YR color(no-dyeing color) in Changgeuk costume much more used because of Korean white robe preference and eco-friendly thinking. But high chroma yellow is restrictive color for symbolic color of emperor in Korea and Japan. 3. Blue is most frequently used in both costumes because blue is encouraging color by the theory of exponents of the five elements doctrine. 4. White in Korean Changguek costume is more used for white robe preference thinking, but black in Kabuki costume is much more used for symbol of power in Japan. The similarity of Korean and Japanese cultural color is to use much Obangsaek, less Ogansaek by the theory of exponents of the five elements doctrine, but the difference of Korean and Japanese cultural color is to use color differently according to preference thinking system.

LBG 알고리즘 기반의 의상 색상 유사성 판별 (Distinction of Color Similarity for Clothes based on the LBG Algorithm)

  • 본 논문은 LBG 알고리즘을 이용하여 다양한 조명에 노출된 의상들의 색상 유사성을 안정적으로 판단하는 방법을 제안한다. 색상 유사성 판별을 위하여 기존에 대표적으로 사용되어왔던 히스토그램 인터섹션이나 누적 히스토그램 방법은 조명 변화에 민감하게 반응하여, 동일한 의상 색상이라 할지라도 서로 다른 조명환경에서는 서로 상이한 색상 판별 결과를 나타낸다. 본 논문에서는 조명에 의한 영향을 줄이고 색상 자체의 분포 특성을 분석하기 위하여 조명조건의 변화에도 일관된 특성을 유지하는 색조와 채도 컬러 성분에 대한 분포 특성을 분석한다. 색조와 채도에 의해 정의되는 2차원 공간에서 각 의상 영상에 대한 색상 분포를 분석하기 위하여 LBG 알고리즘에 의한 비모수적 클러스터링 기법을 적용하고, 클러스터링 결과 얻어진 두 영상의 클러스터 사이의 평균 유클리디안 거리 값을 계산하여 이를 색상 유사성을 판단하는 유사 값으로 정의한다. 제안 기법의 안정성을 입증하기 위하여 서로 다른 조명 환경에서 촬영된 12벌의 의상에 대하여 기존 히스토그램 분석 기법을 기반으로 한 색상 유사성 판별 결과와 제안 기법의 적용 결과를 비교하였다. 실험 결과 제안기법은 동일한 의상 쌍과 상이한 의상 쌍에 대하여 구분을 지을 수 있는 객관적 기준 정의가 용이하였고, 기준에 따른 의상의 동일성 판별 실험에서 91.6%의 판별 성공률을 얻었다.

유치원 교실의 색채이미지 선호도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Color Image Preference of the classroom in kindergarten)

  • A kindergarten requires an approach to meet the nature and sense of children who is main users. This study selected 33 private kindergartens which were located within a housing site development zone in Gwangju since the 1990's, had single use, and was constructed in the last five years. Also the image assessment according to types of color scheme was made. Then the factors which affected preference by type were analyzed and the basic of color scheme in a kindergarten classroom was provided. The following results were obtained. First, types of color scheme in a classroom included identity 12.1%, similarity 51.5%, and novelty 36.4% in harmony, but no contrast and achromatic color, Secondly, the assessment of preference according to each type was mostly positive. The highest preference was found in similarity harmony of warm color(e.g. YR, Y) and bright, clear, nice, and strong images were high in assessment. The lowest preference was found in identity harmony of cold color(e.g. GY). This color system had no clear image assessment, except manly or strong. In particular, warm color showed higher preference than cold color in similarity, novelty, and identity harmony. Thirdly, the factors affecting the preference of color scheme in a classroom most were ‘stable - unstable’, ‘clean - dirty’, ‘bright - dark’, ‘nice - not nice’, and ‘vital - dull’.

Color Image Enhancement Based on Adaptive Nonlinear Curves of Luminance Features

  • This paper proposes an image-dependent color image enhancement method that uses adaptive luminance enhancement and color emphasis. It effectively enhances details of low-light regions while maintaining well-balanced luminance and color information. To compare the structure similarity and naturalness, we used the tone mapped image quality index (TMQI). The proposed method maintained better structure similarity in the enhanced image than did the space-variant luminance map (SVLM) method or the adaptive and integrated neighborhood dependent approach for nonlinear enhancement (AINDANE). The proposed method required the smallest computation time among the three algorithms. The proposed method can be easily implemented using the field-programmable gate array (FPGA), with low hardware resources and with better performance in terms of similarity.

컬러공간 특성을 이용한 유해 동영상 식별방법에 관한 연구 (An Identification Method of Detrimental Video Images Using Color Space Features)

  • 본 논문은 컬러공간 특성을 이용하여 유해동영상을 식별하는 알고리즘을 개발하고, 실험을 통하여 알고리즘의 효율성을 검증한다. 유해동영상 식별 알고리즘은 2차원 투영맵에 기초하고 있다. 비디오 이미지의 컬러특성을 추출하는데 있어 2차원 투영맵은 후보 프레임을 효과적으로 추출하는데 적용되어진다. 본 연구에서는 제시된 유사도 계산 알고리즘을 이용하여 추출된 프레임과 기준 이미지 간의 유사도를 먼저 계산하고, 유사도 평가를 통하여 유해동영상 후보프레임을 식별해 내고 임계치를 적용하여 최종 판단을 내린다. 제시된 알고리즘을 적용한 실험결과, 유해동영상을 찾는데 있어 컬러히스토그램보다 본 연구에서 제안한 2차원 투영맵을 이용한 기법이 계산속도와 식별능력 면에서 더 우수함을 입증하였다.

Complementary Color Scheme Which Appeared in Women's Fashion Collections of New York, Milan, Paris, and London

  • The main objective of this research was to understand the characteristics of complementary color scheme through the analysis of contemporary women's fashion color coordination as they appear in the 'Collections'. Data collection of 115 was done through review of 'pr$\hat{e}$t-$\grave{a}$-porter Collections' of four cities; Milan, London, New York, Paris. Statistical analysis of frequency and also qualitative interpretation of characteristics of complementary color harmony characteristics which appeared in four collections were completed. The main findings were as followed; (1) Only 115 complementary color schemes out of 4968 two color combinations appeared. Compared the comparative ratios of appearance frequency between the two color combination and the complementary color harmony, London showed the highest, and followed by New York, and Milan and Paris. (2)The combined color type of 'red+green' was the most frequently appeared, and followed by 'violet+yellow' and 'orange+blue'. For the type of tone harmony, the contrast tone showed the most, and followed by the similarity and identity. According to the type of complementary color combination, the type of tone harmony used differently. Some differences showed in the types of color harmony and tone harmony between collections. (3) The complementary color scheme which shown in four collections harmonized two opposite colors mainly through the strong tone contrast and this could cause tension along with interest in the image. The complementary colors intensified and brought out the attributes each other. More details, high contrast of two complementary colors of yellow and violet created a vibrant look especially when used at higher saturation. Sometimes, however, some tone variations of two hues neutralized the strong effect and sometimes enhanced each other. When they used in similarity tones or identity tones in light colors, the tension was reduced and became softened but still presented nice harmony. In the type of 'red+green' color harmony, the various color combinations were demonstrated, mostly through tone manipulation of green color. The similarity tone harmony, which used the most, could effect a better sense of harmony and present more sophisticated looks. When used in contrast tone harmony, some changes in its own color which have only one color of two the excessive intensity led a good harmony. The 'orange+blue' color harmony was shown the least and used three tone harmony almost the same ratio. In this color harmony, blue amplified its energy and brilliance of orange and seemed to work better when one color was at a lower intensity than the other. In harmony with a similarity and an identity tone, this color harmony produces a stable and calm image. (4) The complementary scheme appeared more frequently in the S/S collections than in A/W collections and showed some differences in the types of color harmony and tone harmony between seasons, however, no big differences between collections.
