In a case of an automobile collision, vehicle damage and injury of the driver and the passenger occur. The scale of the collision which is effected by the extent of vehicle damage and the injury of the passenger, depends on the delta-V. Based on the photograph interpretation o the actual case of accidents in the Seoul and the Incheon area, this study measured the depth of crush and calculated the delta-V. Through verifying the correlation of the depth of crush and the change of velocity, relative equation was evaluated and compared with the prior study results to prove that they are almost identical. Thus, the depth of crush can be used as an index of the degree of impact, which can be utilized as the change of velocity to evaluate the level of injury done to the passengers. However, the period of hospitalization and diagnostics claimed by the injured proves to have no correlation with the delta-V and the extent of vehicle damage, this is due to the non-objective way of diagnosis and the anamnesis of the injured. This study established the absolute limit harmlessness and the choosing limit harmlessness, allowing the appraisal for Yes or No of the injury or the harmlessness based on the prior studies. Moreover, utilizing the relative equation formed between the depth of crush and the delta-V, each case of collision was compared and evaluated in comparison to the limit harmlessness to prove that the 90.4% of the so-called 'claiming-to-be-injured' were exaggerating or fabricating.
In this paper, we propose a framework that can perform acceleration collision detection efficiently by using a cone based collision area in a particle-based system which requires collision detection with many objects. Three conditions determine particle and cone-based collision regions: 1) If there is a cone position within the radius of the adjacent particle, 2) In the case where the position of the adjacent particle exists in the cone area, 3) When adjacent particles exist between two vectors forming a cone area. As a result, it is defined that when the above conditions are all satisfied, the particle and the region of a cone have collided. In this paper, we automatically update the area of the cone, which is the collision detection area, according to the particle movement. Determine the direction and length of the cone based on the position and velocity of the particle to calculate the dynamic change of the cone. Collision detection is performed quickly using only the particles in the finally calculated area. The acceleration method proposed in this paper is simple to implement because it is executed with a closed form equation instead of explicitly creating the tree data structure, and collision inspection performance is improved in all results.
An OSV (Offshore Support Vessel) is being used to install a structure which is laid on its deck or an adjacent transport barge by lifting off the structure with its own crane, lifting in the air, crossing splash zone, deeply submerging, and lastly landing it. There are some major considerations during these operations. Especially, when lifting off the structure, if operating conditions such as ocean environmental loads and lifting off velocity are not suitable, the collision can be occurred due to the relative motion between the structure and the OSV or the transport barge. To solve this problem, this study performs the physics-based simulation of the lifting off step while the OSV installs the structure. The simulation includes the calculation of dynamic responses of the OSV and the structure, including the collision detection between the transport barge and the structure. To check the applicability of the physics-based simulation, it is applied to a problem of the lifting off step by varying the ocean environmental loads and the lifting off velocity. As a result, it is confirmed that the operability of the lifting off step are affected by the conditions.
The recent discovery of diffuse dwarf galaxies that are deficient in dark matter appears to challenge the current paradigm of structure formation in our Universe. We describe the numerical experiments to determine if the so-called dark matter deficient galaxies (DMDGs) could be produced when two gas-rich, dwarf-sized galaxies collide with a high relative velocity of ~ 300km/s. Using idealized high-resolution simulations with both mesh-based and particle-based gravito-hydrodynamics codes, we find that DMDGs can form as high-velocity galaxy collisions separate dark matter from the warm disk gas which subsequently is compressed by shock and tidal interaction to form stars. Then using a large simulated universe ILLUSTRISTNG, we discover a number of high-velocity galaxy collision events in which DMDGs are expected to form. However, we did not find evidence that these types of collisions actually produced DMDGs in the ILLUSTRISTNG100-1 run. We argue that the resolution of the numerical experiment is critical to realize the "collision-induced" DMDG formation scenario. Our results demonstrate one of many routes in which galaxies could form with unconventional dark matter fractions.

This study examined the final stop position and posture of both vehicles, the damaged part of the vehicle, the road surface, the specifications of the vehicle, and the angle of impact, centering on the case of a collision in which no surface trace was found. As a result of the simulation, the impact velocity of an SM5 and Lexus was 131 km/h and 74 km/h, respectively, and the impact angle of the SM5 and Lexus was 0.91° and -161.07°, respectively. The cause of the accident was that the SM5 passed through the intersection exceeding the maximum speed limit of 61 km/h and entered the Lexus' left turn lane. Lexus collided during the evacuation to avoid the collision. The collision trajectory error rate of the simulation was approximately 1.4%. Of the subjective experience of accident investigators, the collision dynamics and vehicle engineering aspects and simulations were actively utilized to provide close-to-fact cause identification.
The mean velocity gradient, G, has been used as a principal design and operation parameter for flocculation unit. This paper questions that significance. The physical and qualitative meaning of collision efficiency factors of each transport mechanism (Brownian motion, fluid shear, and differential sedimentation) are reviewed. The overall collision frequency function is calculated by summing up the collision frequency function of each mechanism. In the collision of two particles of different size, a diagram showing the dominant region in which each mechanism is important is developed and the meaning of the diagram is discussed. The primary ramification of this curvilinear, heterodisperse approach is that G is found to be not nearly so important. Previous experimental work in which the role of G has been examined is reviewed in light of this finding.

This case study carried out a rear-end collision accident analysis and physical simulation of an SUV and passenger car. The speed of the SUV by physical analysis is 71 ~ 87 km/h, while the speed of the passenger car is 6 ~ 22 km/h. Simulation results showed the optimal speed conditions for the SUV was 71 km/h, and 7 km/h for the passenger car. Simulations can be verified for the collision analysis. The findings of this study are expected to increase the reliability of accident reconstructions.
The Light Collision Safety Device is used to protect the important part of trains and passengers at the low velocity accidents. The Light Collision Safety Device comprises mainly tension bolts, shear bolts and an energy absorber. The work mechanism of this device is that first, the tension bolts break at designed collapse load and second, the energy absorber absorb rest collision energy. In this paper, the tension bolt characteristics were validated by the simple tension test using the FEM(Finite Element Method) and the characteristic of the two types of energy absorber were compared by using the load-displacement curves and absorbed energy. Last, in order to determine integrated load-displacement curve of tension bolts and the energy absorber, the unified analysis was conducted by using the FEM.

This paper presents an autonomous acceleration planning algorithm for pedestrian collision avoidance at urban. Various scenarios between pedestrians and a vehicle are designed to maneuver the planning algorithm. To simulate the scenarios, we analyze pedestrian's behavior and identify limitations of fusion sensors, lidar and vision camera. Acceleration is optimally determined by considering TTC (Time To Collision) and pedestrian's intention. Pedestrian's crossing intention is estimated for quick control decision to minimize full-braking situation, based on their velocity and position change. Feasibility of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulations using Carsim and Simulink, and comparisons with actual driving data.

Incheon Bridge is 13.38 km long with an 800 m span, connecting Incheon International Airport and Songdo International City, Per hour 73.8 vessels navigate this space. The purpose of this study was to suggest a safe passing speed based on the displacement of a vessel based on the safety criteria of Incheon Bridge's anti-collision fence, which was designed during its initial construction. As AASHTO LRFD suggested, vessel collision energy, vessel collision velocity, and the hydrodynamic mass coefficient were considered to derive a safe vessel traffic speed. Incheon Bridge's anti-collision fence was designed so that 100,000 DWT vessels can navigate at a speed of 10 knot. This research suggests a safe speed for vessel traffic through a comparative analysis of an experimental ship's (300,000 DWT) speed and cargo conditions, regulation speed has been calculated according to the collision energy under each set of conditions. Additionally, safe traffic vessel's safe speed was analyzed with reference to tidal levels. Results from the experimental ship showed that a vessel of maximum 150,000 DWT is able to pass Incheon Bridge at a maximum of 7 knots with an above average water level, and is able to pass the bridge with a maximum of 8 knots under ballast conditions.
