It revealed that there were much differences to the extent of stress they have experienced during the delivery room practice between the nursing students(who experienced delivery room practice at an early stage) in C.Junior College of Nursing and nursing students(who experienced delivery room practice at a latter stage) in J. Junior College of Nursing(p<.000). 3. In ten items of the stress that was confronted by nursing practice, they had much differences to the extent of stress perception for the students during the period of delivery room practice between each college(p<.05). 4. In the four parts of the clinical practice except for adult nursing practice, they had much differences to the extent of stress according to whether they have their practical experience. However the stress which they experienced in the adult ward during the period of delivery of delivery room nursing practice is too low to be significant(p<.05).

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to (a) synthesize nursing education literature using a smartphone for Korean nursing college students based on Whittemore and Knafl's integrative five-step review method and to (b) evaluate the quality appraisal of each article using Gough's weight of evidence. Methods: Articles published in Korea were identified through electronic search engines and scholarly websites using a combination of three search terms, including nursing student, smartphone, and education. Scientific, peer-reviewed articles in nursing education for Korean college nursing students, written in Korean or in English, and published between January 2000 and May 2018 were included in this review. Thirteen papers met the inclusion criteria and had above average ratings in quality appraisals. Results: Three characteristics related to nursing education using a smartphone were derived: (a) as a familiar media, motivating learning and enabling self-directed learning, (b) for the purpose of education or evaluation utilizing the educational movie of application, and (c) the iterative exercise of smartphone usage reinforces student learning. Conclusion: Smartphone use is an effective tool for improving nursing knowledge and skills for nursing college students in nursing education. Future research is needed to standardize smartphone applications across schools for nursing education.

  • This study was conducted to develop Web-based multimedia content that assists undergraduate students in a clinical practicum on adult nursing. The study examined whether students in the intervention group could obtain clinical knowledge and perform more effectively when encouraged to learn Web content as compared with students in the conventional group. Web-based multimedia content consisting of 13 learning modules was developed based on real patients' scenarios through collaboration among college professors. A total of 120 nursing students (74 for the intervention and 46 for the conventional groups) from two universities in G-city, who engaged in a 3-week long clinical practicum in the digestive and respiratory units of a university hospital, participated in the study. Students' knowledge, self-directed learning, and clinical performance ability were measured using self-administered questionnaires. Data for pre- and posttests were collected over a 2-month period, between May and June of 2009. Clinical knowledge and self-reported clinical performance scores were significantly higher in students using the Web-enhanced clinical practicum than in those in the conventional group. However, there was no significant difference in self-directed learning ability between the 2 groups. These results demonstrate that Web-based multimedia content can be an effective educational tool for enhancing students' clinical knowledge and performance.

The experimental group took the clinical competency evaluation using standardized patients and the control group took the existing evaluation using a doll. The clinical competency and communication skills were measured by evaluators, and self-efficacy was self reported by the nursing students. Results: The experimental group had higher scores in clinical competency, communication skills, and self-efficacy than those in the control group. Conclusion: Through these results, practice education of nursing education programs need to activate the clinical competency evaluation using standardized patients.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships between life style, menstrual attitude and premenstrual syndrome in nursing students. Methods: The study participants were 246 nursing students of a university in Gyeunggi province. Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire from May to June, 2012. Collected data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe test. Results: Students who had undesirable alcohol habits (r=.15, p=.020) and negative menstrual attitude (r=.17, p=.009) experienced more a severe premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Students with dysmenorrhea had more severe PMS (F=12.41, p<.001) and a negative menstrual attitude (F=6.18, p<.001). Conclusion: These finding suggest that PMS would be alleviated by nursing interventions to improve alcohol habits and decrease negative menstrual attitudes, and nursing interventions for dysmenorrhea would be helpful in PMS management in nursing students. Further studies on the development of nursing interventions related to these factors are needed for PMS management.
