The Effects of 12 Week Balance Ability Improvement Exercise to the Changes of Selected Joint Angles and Ground Reaction Forces during Down Staircase Walking (노인대상 12주간 균형능력 향상 운동이 계단 내리기 보행 시 주요 관절각 및 지면반력 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of balance ability improvement exercise program which applied to the elderly people for increasing balance, stability and range of motion. Ten elderly people and ten university students were recruited as the subjects. Kinematic data were collected by seven real-time infrared cameras while subjects walk stair descent as a pre-test. Korean folk dance exercise program was applied to the elderly for 12 weeks. Same experiment on stair descent walk was performed as post-test. Results indicated that CM movement and selected joint angle patterns of elderly group after treatment changed to the similar patterns of young group. However, ankle joint angle and vertical GRF of elderly group after treatment also increased compared to those of the elderly group before treatment. This might be explained by the fact that elderly used a different walking strategy which maximize support base for increasing stability. Overall, these results indicated that the exercise treatment may affect to adapt and improve the gait pattern of stair descent of elderly people.

The Development of Rhythmic Balance Training Equipment and its Effect on Performance for Elderly

  • Objective: The aims of this study were 1) to develop easy-to-use rhythmic balance training equipment for the elderly and 2) to investigate the effect of training with the equipment on balance and physical function. Method: Twenty-one elderly individuals (age: $75.4{\pm}3.34yrs$, height: $152.07{\pm}4.81cm$, weight: $58.35{\pm}8.34kg$) participated in this study. Each participant underwent balance and physical function testing before and after 12 weeks of training with the equipment. Y-balance (i.e. dynamic balance) and one leg static balance tests were used for balance testing, and timed up- and-down-stairs and five times sit-to-stand tests were used for physical function testing. A paired t test was used to determine whether there was a significant pre- and post-training difference. Results: The rhythmic balance training equipment provided a fun and motivating training program with age-friendly music, dance movements for lower extremity strength training, and touch screen controls with simple features. Post-training left foot dynamic balance was significantly greater (p<.05), and static balance with eyes open was significantly improved (p<.05) compared to pre-training. Completion of the timed up-and-down-stairs and the five times sit-to-stand tests was significantly shorter (p<.05) compared to pre-training. Conclusion: Training using the equipment developed in this study improved balance and physical function in elderly participants.

BASIC STUDIES ON THE PHYSICAL FITNESS OF KOREAN SCHOOL BOYS AND GIRLS (한국(韓國) 어린이 및 청소년(靑少年)의 체력(體力)에 관(關)한 기초연구(基礎硏究))

  • As physical fitness measured was muscle strength (hand grips, leg extention, back lift, and arm pull and thrust), skinfold thickness (5 different sites), circulatory function (resting heart rate and blood pressure), speed (kinesiological analysis during 100m sprint, record, maximal and final speed), motor function (50 meter dash, ball throwing, standing broad jump, and pull-ups), maximal aerobic power (maximum oxygen intake by field running method), muscle power (leg and arm by inertia ergometer), and general endurance (maximum endurance running time on the treadmill at the speed of 5 MPH and grade of 15.5%) of 1131 Korean children (boys 572, girls 559) aged of 6 to 17 years, who were randomly sampled from 24 primary, middle and high schools at the two districts of Seoul and KyungKi. The results are summarized as follows: 1) The status (height and weight) of the children was almost same as that of the previously reported Korean and Japanese children of same ages. 2) Muscle strength was a gained linearly with geting age in the boys and girls but there was a little improvement in girls aged of 13 years or more. 3) The mean skin fold thickness was increased linearly with geting ages in both sexes, but the girls from 12 to 17 years of age were increased rapidly, and maximum value was 17mm, while boys was 7.0 mm. 4) In the circulatory function, the resting heart rate was decreased, but the blood pressure was increased with ages in both sexes within the normal limits. 5) The maximum and final speed during 100 meter sprint increases with age in boys but girls who are 12 years old or older, were not improved any mere. The patterns of running were same in both sexes, and maximum speed reached at about 30 meters from starting line. 6) The motor function was increased with age in both sexes, but there was no improvement in 12 years of age or older girls. More over records of all functions except standing broad jump was less than those of Japanese in the same age, respectively. 7) The maximum oxygen intake (MOI) was increased considerably with ages and maximum values were 2.93 L/min (boys) and 2.09 L/min (girls) at the age of 17years. This result was almost same as that of the Japanese and Easter Island population, but the value was lower than that of Europe. The average of the maximum oxygen intake per kg body weight per minute from 9 to 17 years of age were around 53 ml in the boys and 42 ml in the girls. 8) Muscle power was increased linearly with ages in boys while there was relatively a little increment in girls. The maximum values of leg muscle in boys and girls at the 17 years of age were 0.168 and 0.088 horse power, respectively. 9) The maximum endurance running time was increased considerably from the age of 9 in boys, while there was no improvement in girls. The maximum values were 6.0 min and 1.8 min, respectively.

Examining the Relationship among Organizational Justice, Athlete Satisfaction, Team Commitment, and Organizational Citizenship Behavior in College Athletes

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the structural relationship among organizational justice, athlete satisfaction, team commitment, and organizational citizenship behavior toward college athletes. To achieve this purpose, this study employed a convenience sampling method via a questionnaire dissemination. A total of 285 responses were collected from college athletes. Among those, 21 responses were excluded as they were not completed, leaving 264 usable data. The data was computed in SPSS 28.0 and AMOS 28.0, and analyzed with correlation analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling analysis. Overall, organizational justice had a positive influence on athlete satisfaction, team commitment, and organizational citizenship behavior. Athlete satisfaction had a positive influence on team commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. However, there was no relationship between team commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. These findings provided empirical foundational data on the impact of organizational justice on psychological and behavioral outcomes and the overall efficiency and effectiveness of organizations, with a focus on college athletes who played a central role in the context of college sports setting.

Hapkido-related Clavicle Fractures :Preventable Injuries (합기도 훈련중 발생한 쇄골 골절과 예방)

  • Introduction: It is frequently occur in sports injury of clavicular fractures in Hapkido players. Weevaluated Hapkido related clavicular fractures and preventive measure. Methods: We experienced 12 cases of Hapkido related clavicle fracture. The age ranged from 13 to18-years-old. All cases were treated by conservative managements. We examined the relationship between the clavicle fractures and Hapkido related pathomechanics.Results: All cases were injured during the practice for the falling-technique. Results were evaluatedby Weitzman and all cases were revealed more than good. Conclusions: In most cases, the correction of the wrong way of falling-technique will reduce theclavicle fractures in the Hapkido players.

The Impact of Coach Leadership Type on Exercise of College Athletes

  • Purpose: Prior literature posits that leadership of coach influences athletes' performance via delegate interactions. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the type of instructor on the exercise stress of university athletes and to provide instructors with informative coaching methods especially for their leadership. Research design, data, and methodology: In order to achieve the purpose of the research, Seoul and Gyeonggi Province Materials University athletes were selected as a sample, 360 college athletes participated in the survey and data were screened and finally 314 were analyzed. The collected data were analyzed via descriptive analysis and multiple regressions. To examine the validity and reliability of the survey items, factor analysis and Cronbach's α were computed. Results: Coaches' leadership types are found to influence university athletes' exercise stress significantly. In specific, transformational leadership negatively influences teaching Complaints. Transformational leadership also negatively influences time constraints. However, transformational and transactional leadership do not have any effect on career concerns. transformational and transactional leadership also do not influence functional instability of college athletes. Conclusions: Overall, leadership types of coach partially influence exercise stress of athletes. These findings posit that transformational leadership contribute in developing reliable relationship between athletes and instructors. Further implications were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine closely between the sociodemographic characteristics and sports participation. To subject who answered to givev questionaire was 389 persons. To analyze materials, $X^2$ analysis used as statistic analysis techniques. On the basis of the results, the conclusions were as follows; Firstly, there was significants relationship between sex and sports participation. Secondly, there was significants relationship between college & department and sports participation. Thirdly, there was not significants relationship between house income and sports participation. Lastly, there was not significants relationship between subjective social-class and sports participation.

A Study on the Measurement and Shape of Lower Body of Sportmen (슬랙스 설계를 위한 스포츠전공 남자대학생의 하반신 체형 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to provide fundamental data on the development of ready-to-wear clothing appropriate for the lower body types of male students who play sports in college. The study was conducted by means of targeting 151 male sports majors between $18{\sim}27$ years of age. Characteristics of the respondents were ascertained by means of questionnaires and an evaluation of a total of 36 lower body features. The results of the study are as follows. 1. A comparison of anthropometric measurements with the National Anthropometric Survey of Korea (1997) revealed that the main characteristics of the lower somatotypes of male sports college students are large circumferences and developed muscles of the lower body. 2. Sports were classified into the following five categories : soccer, bodybuilding, wrestling, judo, and taekwondo. In particular, bodybuilding students demonstrated a somatotype with an increased circumference, depth, and width of the thigh and lower body. 3. Somatotypes were classified into 3 types by means of a cluster analysis employing S factors. Type 1 somatotype exhibits a large circumference in the lower body. Type 2 is a lower somatotype of a middle size. Finally, Type 3 encompasses a smaller group in weight and circumference with a developed calf and ankle. 4. Each group was evaluated using a discriminatory analysis as a check to see if the groups had been discriminated with accuracy. The total accuracy rate was 96.0%.

Effect of sports taping on golf swing when wearing functional inner-wear (기능성 이너웨어 착용 시 스포츠 테이핑 부착에 따른 골프 스윙에 미치는 효과)

  • Functional inner-wear being currently sold is being made without regard to the characteristics of various sports events. The purpose of this study is to identify this problem and to investigate the effect of sports taping on golf swing when wearing functional inner-wear. The subjects of this study were 8 male golfers belonging to Korea Professional Golf Association, and Launch monitor and Trackman were used to find out golf club action, ball pitch, distance, etc. There are three types of clubs: driver, wood, and iron, and the first experiment was carried out using only functional inner-wear. In the second experiment, we experimented with functional inner-wear after sports taping, and we compared and analyzed the distance depending on each experiment, the speed of the ball and the club, and the accuracy of the club face. The results of the study were as follows. As a result of driving distance, according to the presence of sports taping on functional inner-wear, there was a statistically significant difference in the driving swing and wood swing, for club and ball speed, there was a statistically significant difference only in the driving swing. Regarding the accuracy by the presence of sports taping on inner-wear, there was a statistically significant difference in the driving swing, wood swing, and iron swing. In conclusion, the sports taping in the functional inner-wear had a positive effect on golf performance improvement, and we hope that golf inner-wear these two specifications combing will be developed in the future.

Development of Sports Ethics Consciousness Scale for Preventing Fixing Game (승부조작 예방을 위한 스포츠 윤리의식 척도개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop sports ethics consciousness scale for preventing fixing game, based on foreign data but considering the actual conditions of Korea. Respondents were elite sports athletes from D-city. This study was conducted on 304 elite sports athletes from middle, high school and college students selected by purposeful sampling, for three months from May to July 2018. In the date analysis stage, the descriptive statistic analysis was performed for understanding the item characteristic and the internal consistency coefficient(α), the exploratory factor analysis and the confirmatory factor analysis were perforned for analysing the credibility, the validity. There were five sub-factors of sports ethics consciousness scale, consisting of ethics of autonomy, ethics of collectivism, ethics of common good, ethics of dignity, and ethics of productivity, which were identified through 23 questions. It was proved that the scale have enough suitability (χ2=420.151, df=220, p=.000, GFI=.996, NFI=.979, TLI=.960, CFI=.978, RMSEA=.055).
