This research was to understand the features of mathematization and didactical phenomenology, in a way that was not a routine calculation of equation, rather a complete comprehension by the reinventing historical principles of the equation. To achieve the purpose of this study, one-mate middle school student participated in the study. Interview and observation were used for collecting data during the student's performance. The results of research were: First, the student understood the mathematical concepts from a real life and developed the abstract concepts from it, which were very intimately related with his life. Second, the skill and formula definition were accomplished with the accompanying predicted and consequently derived mathematical concepts. Third, through the approach of using the history of mathematics, he became more interested in what he was doing and took lessons with confidence. Forth, the student performed his learning based on the historical reinventing principle under the proper guidance of a teacher.

The study aimed to provide a proposed conception of technical solutions to address the educational loss in mathematics in the fifth grade of primary school, and the study adopted the descriptive approach. male and female teachers, and to achieve the study objective, the researcher built a tool for the study, a "questionnaire", in which he used the comprehensive inventory method, and the results of the study showed: identifying the learning outcomes that represent an educational loss, and identifying the learning outcomes that are considered essential in teaching and learning mathematics for the fifth grade of primary school. In the event that it is not achieved by students, it is considered an educational loss that may affect the future of students' education and learning. Because it is a basis for later experiences in mathematics in other classes, and the study also found the effectiveness of the proposed visualization of technical solutions provided to address the educational loss in mathematics for the fifth grade: (short electronic tests, YouTube channel, homework, educational platform, electronic worksheets, and communication channels).

Some 400 Secondary One (i.e. seventh-grade) students from 10 schools were provided with non-routine mathematical problems in their normal mathematics classes as exercises for one academic year. Their attitudes toward mathematics, their conceptions of mathematics and their problem-solving performance were measured both in the beginning and at the end of the year. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that the introduction of an appropriate dose of non-routine problems would generate some effects on the students' conceptions of mathematics. A medium dose of non-routine problems (as reported by the teachers) would result in a change of the students' conception of mathematics to perceiving mathematics as less of "a subject of calculables." On the other hand, a high dose would lead students to perceive mathematics as more useful and more as a discipline involving thinking. However, with a low dose of non-routine problems, students found mathematics more "friendly" (free from fear). It is therefore proposed that the use of non-routine mathematical problems to an appropriate extent can induce changes in students' "lived space" of mathematics learning and broaden their conceptions of mathematics and mathematics learning.
The study is about the influence of literal, symbolic and graphics languages on mathematics reading. The results show that the scores of symbolic language volume are significantly lower than that of literal language volume. The abstractness of the mathematical symbols will not have a significant impact on the students with excellent mathematical academic, but as for the medium and poor students, abstract mathematics symbols will cause their cognitive impairment. Due to picture-superiority-effect, the test scores of the graphics language volume are significantly higher than that of the symbolic language volume. Graphics language will have a significant impact on the excellent and medium students, but has no impact on the poor students.
This study explored teachers (n = 219) from northern, central, southern and eastern Taiwan concerning their views about children's learning difficulties, mathematical instruction and school mathematics curricular. Results showed that teachers' mathematics knowledge or their instruction methods had no significant influence on their views of children's learning difficulties. Even though teachers indicated that understanding of abstract mathematical concepts was the most prominent difficulty for children, they tended to employ direct instruction rather than constructive and cooperative problem solving in their teaching. However, teachers' views of children's learning difficulties did influence their instructional practice. Results from in-dept interviews revealed that there were some obstacles that prevented teachers from putting constructiveism perspectives of instruction into teaching practice. Further investigation is needed to develop a better understanding of epistemology and teaming psychology as well as to help teachers create constructive learning situations.
This study examines the relationship between prior learning experience, the high school records, mathematics grade in the KSAT(Korean Scholastic Aptitude Test) and mathematics achievement, GPA(grade point average) of college freshmen. It analyses how much mathematics capacities in the time of high school affect mathematics achievement of college freshmen. This study surveyed 193 freshmen, attending in a college of science and engineering, taking the 'basic differential and integral calculus' lecture, which was opened for the first semester of 2014 in the A university. The data processing was fulfilled by means of technical statistics, correlation analysis, difference test, ANOVA, ex post facto test, and regression analysis. The outcomes of this survey are followings: Firstly, over 90 percent of college freshmen underwent prior learning of mathematics when they attended high school. Secondly, their perception of effectiveness for prior learning is founded to be meaningfully lower than their perception of its needfulness. Thirdly, while there is higher positive correlation between mathematics achievement and GPA in the college, there is little correlation between high school records and GPA in the college. Also, there is little correlation between mathematics grade in the KSAT and mathematics achievement in the college. Fourthly, the accomplishments in the high school(The high school records, mathematics grade in the KSAT) and the efforts, satisfaction, necessity, etc. for prior learning had little effect on academic achievement in college mathematics. Based on these results, this study makes some suggestions for developing academical achievement in college mathematics.
As a researcher engaged in the mathematical education, mathematics teachers are interested in instructional methods. While it is unlikely that the viewpoints of individual mathematics teachers are reflected in making decisions on instructional purposes and instructional contents, a good many parts of instructional methods on mathematical facts are decided by individual teachers. This means that the role of mathematics teachers is given much weight in the mathematical education. Therefore, the mathematics teachers must not be excluded in all parts of the study of mathematical education. We studied the instructional methods of function concept, a central topic in school mathematics from the following perspectives. First, we examined the characteristics of the three(correspondence-centered, middle, dependence centered) viewpoints about the essence of function concept. And we should that which of them should be the viewpoint of instruction of function concept in school mathematics. Second, we investigated the questions regarding the process of function instruction in school mathematics and presented alternative instruction methods of function concept to solve the questions. Third, we postulated the importance of polynomial function, relating college mathematics in order to present the reason why the polynomial function is importantly treated in functional instruction of school mathematics.
