The impact of Academic Resilience of Chinese Students Participating in Sports on their Adaptation to College Life

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of Chinese international students' academic resilience on acculturation stress and college life adjustment. In order to achieve this research objective, the research subjects were Chinese students participating in sports in Korea. The sampling method was convenience sampling, and a total of 300 people, 150 men and 150 women, were selected as research subjects through sharing the questionnaire link online and email. The research tool used in this study was a questionnaire. Based on the questionnaire that had secured reliability and validity in previous research, it was modified and supplemented to suit this study. The statistical analysis used for data analysis was frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS Windows 22.0 Version. The conclusions obtained in this study through data analysis according to these methods and procedures are as follows. First, the academic elasticity of Chinese students participating in sports has partially influenced by cultural adaptation stress. Second, the academic elasticity of Chinese students participating in sports has partially influenced by university life. Third, the acculturation stress of Chinese students participating in sports was found to partially affect their adaptation to university life.

교양댄스수업 참가자가 인식하는 교수행동과 수업몰입 및 지속적 참여의도의 구조관계 (The Structural Relationship between the Type of Teaching Behaviors Perceived by College Students' Participating in Liberal Dance Classes, Lecture concentration and Continuous Participation Intention)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 교양댄스수업참가자가 인식하는 교수행동, 지속적 참여의도, 그리고 수업몰입의 구조관계를 파악하고 수업몰입을 매개변수로 설정하여 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 대학의 교양댄스수업에 참가하고 있는 대학생을 모집단으로 선정하고 비확률 표본표집법 중 유의표본표집법을 이용하여 서울, 경기지역의 대학에서 총 314명의 자료를 수집하였다. 자료처리는 빈도분석, 탐색적 요인분석, 확인적 요인분석, 신뢰도분석, 구조방정식모형 분석, 부트스트래핑(bootstrapping) 방법을 실시하였다. 이와 같은 방법 및 절차를 통하여 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교양댄스수업참가자가 인식하는 교수행동은 수업몰입에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 교양댄스수업참가자가 인식하는 교수행동은 지속적 참여의도에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 셋째, 교양댄스수업참가자가 인식하는 수업몰입은 지속적 참여의도에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 넷째, 교양댄스수업참가자가 인식하는 교수행동과 지속적 참여의도의 관계에서 수업몰입은 유의한 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

A Study on the Relationship between College Students' Social Skills and Metacognition through Service-learning Participation

  • Purpose This study aims to investigate the correlation of social skills and metacognition among university students participating in service-learning programs. Also by evaluating the satisfaction of college students participating in service learning, this research seeks to understand the impact of this program on learning experiences. Research design, data and methodology: The research period spans two semesters, each comprising 15 weeks, from March 2, 2023, to December 20, 2023. Detailed procedures, including planning, preparation, data collection, analysis, and organization, cover activities conducted over the course of 30 weeks. These activities encompass various stages, from initial classroom planning with designated English storybooks to reflection and feedback sessions aimed at continuous development. Data collection methods include surveys, interviews, and observations, allowing for a comprehensive examination of social skills and metacognition among participating students. Results: The results show significant correlations between social skills and metacognition, such as the correlation between knowledge and statistics (r = 0.759, p < .01), the moderate correlation between cooperation and knowledge (r = 0.532, p < .01), the moderate correlation between statistics and cooperation (r = 0.539, p < .01), and the correlation between self-regulation and assertion (r = 0.278, p < .001). The average score of the satisfaction of college students participating in service learning was 4.8 out of 5. Conclusions: This study highlights the significant role of service-learning in boosting social skills and metacognition among university students. This study enhances the academic understanding of the relationships between social skills, metacognition, and service-learning programs, contributing to the expansion of both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.

학교 아침급식 참여 희망 여부에 따른 여중생의 아침식사 관련 실태조사 (A Study on Breakfast Dietary Behavior of Female Middle School Students by Intention to Participate in School Breakfast Programs)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the eating of breakfast by female middle school students in Seoul, the perception of the school breakfast program (SBP), and determine the factors affecting the intention to participate in SBP. Out of 340 questionnaires distributed to the female middle school students, 334 were returned (98.2% response rate) and 323 were analyzed. The subjects were categorized into two groups by the intention to participate in SBP. Subjects were classified as participating and non participating groups. As a result of analyzing the breakfast intake frequency, 'hardly eat' showed the highest with 18.5% in the participating group and 10.3% in non participating group, while 'eat every day' showed 38.2% in the participating group, and the highest with 65.5% in non participating group (p<0.001). For the reason for skipping breakfast, 'no time' showed the highest with 30.0% in the participating group, 'over sleep' and 'no appetite' showed the highest with 24.8% in non participating group. For the reason for not participating in SBP, 'breakfast should be eaten at home' showed the highest with 47.2% in non participating group and 'may get up early in the morning' showed the highest with 46.2% in participating group (p<0.01). To determine the factors affecting the intention to participate in SBP, logistic regression analyses were conducted for female middle school students. According to the logistic regression analysis, father's education level was independently associated with the intention to participate in SBP in female middle school students [Odds Ratios (OR) 2.38, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) 1.03~5.52]. Frequency of eating breakfast on weekdays (OR 1.36, 95% CI 1.01~1.81), Level of need for school breakfast (OR 0.52, 95% CI 0.35~0.76) and whether to approve school breakfast (OR 0.27, 95% CI 0.18~0.41) were independently associated with the intention to participate in SBP in female middle school students. In conclusion, proper educational efforts for importance of school breakfast could be useful plan to develop school breakfast program.

간호대학생의 초등학생 대상 심신 건강증진 프로그램의 멘토링 경험 (Mentoring Experience of Nursing Students Participating in a Health Promotion Program for Elementary School Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the monitoring experience of nursing students and to suggest considerations when developing mentoring programs. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted by online surveys and individual interviews with 7 nursing students who participated in the health promotion program as mentors. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis to identify motives for participating in mentoring and to explore their changes through mentoring. Results: The results were as follows: Motives for participating were 'inquisitiveness about children', 'interest in mentoring activities' and 'curiosity about research'. Recognition of mentor roles were 'actively involved guide', 'exemplary role model' and 'empathetic emotional supporter'. Changes through mentoring experiences were revealed by 'understanding the characteristics of children', 'improvement of interaction ability with children', 'understanding self and changes' and 'recognition of excellence in forest activities'. Conclusion: Nursing students had opportunities to learn the characteristics of general children and to understand themselves through natural interaction. Participation in mentoring has the potential to be a creative educational method of field learning as a form of service learning.

Weight-Control Attempt by Korean College Students Participating in a Nutrition Education Class via the Internet; Skipping Dinner or Exercise

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in dietary attitudes, dietary behaviors and health-related lifestyles among Korean college students (392 males, 808 females) participating in a web class of nutrition education. This cross-sectional survey was conducted by a self-administered questionnaire and data was analyzed by SPSS program. Most female subjects with weight-control attempt had eating habit problems such as overeating and food jags. The female subjects with weight-control attempt showed significantly higher rate of skipping dinner compared to those without weight-control attempt. As for frequency of exercise, the subjects with weight-control attempt exercised more frequently compared to those without weight-control attempt. In subjects, weight-control attempt was significantly associated with exercise. Nutrient adequacy ratio and mean adequacy ratio of the subjects with weight-control attempt were significantly lower compared to those without weight-control attempt. These results suggest that skipping dinner or exercise might be used as weight-control methods in Korean college female students participating in a nutrition education class via the internet.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 자기관리와 건강증진 생활양식과의 관계를 파악하고 건강증진 생활양식을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하는데 있다. 체육활동 참여 대학생들의 자기관리가 건강증진 생활양식에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 상관관계분석 및 회귀분석 방법을 사용하였다. 연구결과를 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생들의 건강증진 생활양식을 증진시키기 위해서는 체육활동 프로그램을 구성할 당시 참여자의 건강정보 수준의 차이를 고려하여 맞춤형 활동 프로그램을 개발하는 것이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 체육활동에 참여하는 대학생들의 자기관리와 건강증진 생활양식 사이에서의 협력작용 및 상승효과를 극대화시킬 수 있는 실증적인 기초 활동자료를 제공하는 것이 중요한 것으로 나타났다.

대학생들의 감각추구성향이 스포츠만족도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Sensation Seeking Tendency on Sports Satisfaction among College Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 교양체육에 참가하고 있는 대학생들을 대상으로 감각추구성향과 스포츠만족도의 관계를 알아보고, 감각추구성향의 개인적인 특징이 스포츠만족도에 얼마나 영향을 주는지를 전반적으로 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 대학교 교양체육수업에 참가하고 있는 302명의 대학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여, 감각추구성향이 스포츠만족도에 미치는 영향력과 성별에 따른 감각추구성향이 스포츠만족도에 미치는 조절효과를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교양체육에 참여하는 대학생들의 감각추구성향은 스포츠만족도의 하위영역인 사회적만족, 정서적만족, 신체적만족, 환경적만족, 교육적만족 등의 요인과 통계적으로 관련성이 있음이 나타났다. 둘째, 감각추구성향의 요인 중 전율과 모험추구가 교육적만족에 미치는 영향력은 남학생, 경험추구가 교육적만족에 미치는 영향력은 여학생이 더 높은 경향성을 나타내었다.

여가참가 대학생의 건강생활습관이 수면의 질에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of the Healthy Lifestyle Habits of College Students Participating in Leisure on the Quality of Sleep)

  • 본 연구는 여가활동 참가 대학생들의 건강생활습관이 수면의 질에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해서 편의표집방법(convenience sampling method)을 사용하였다. 연구대상은 여가참가 대학생 153명으로 구글 URL설문지를 통해 조사하였으며 연구문제를 위해 IBM SPSS 통계 프로그램을 사용하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 대학생의 특성에 따른 전공에서는 예체능계열이 자연계열보다 운동생활습관이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 여가참가에서는 스포츠부문에 참가하는 대학생이 운동생활습관, 건강인지습관, 식습관, 주관수면에서 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 여가활동기간에서는 3년이상 여가활동에 참가한 학생이 운동생활습관, 건강인지습관, 주간수면에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 여가활동시간에서는 1-2시간 참가하는 학생이 운동생활습관, 건강인지습관, 식습관에서 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 수면의 어려움에서 나쁜생활습관이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 주간수면에서는 운동생활습관, 나쁜생활습관, 식습관에서 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

Development of a university student-led healthcare program for people with intellectual disabilities

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the contents of a health care program for the disabled led by nursing students and to verify the effect of the program operation on the disability awareness and disability acceptance attitude of participating university students. Ten nursing students participated in the development and operation of the program, and the validity of the developed program was confirmed through a group of experts. After participating in the program operation, it was confirmed that nursing students' disability awareness (Z=-2.80, p=.002) and disability acceptance attitude (Z=-2.66, p=.006) all improved. Various efforts should be made, such as utilizing the health care program for the disabled presented in this study, as an experiential program to properly equip university students with awareness and attitude toward disability as a social competency.
