Differences in the Tendency of Academic Burn-Out according to Sasang Constitution among the Healthcare College Students (보건의료 대학생들의 사상체질 분류에 따른 학업소진 경향의 차이)

  • Academic burn-out is a state of emotional, and physical exhaustion caused by prolonged stress over the course of the semester and academic year. It is composed of exhaustion, inefficacy, and cynicism. The purpose of this study was to reveal that the academic burn-out would be significantly different between early and the end stage of semester, and the sub pattern would be different according to Sasang constitution among the healthcare college students. The first survey was conducted in early March 2018 and the second one was done in the end of June 2018. Total 386 questionnaires concerning KS-15 of Sasang Constitution, MBI-SS of academic burn-out and general characteristics such as drinking, smoking and so on were collected and 9 of them were excluded, because of insufficient answers. The academic burn-out score significantly increased from 56 in early stage of semester to 63 in the end stage of semester (p<.001). In sub-pattern analysis, the exhaustion score significantly increased from 21.3 to 26.7 (p<.001), and cynicism score increased from 15.4 to 17 (p<.001). The cynicism score of drinking alcohol group ($16.21{\pm}5.572$) was higher than the non-drinking alcohol group ($14.62{\pm}5.859$), and the exhaustion score of smoking group ($23.75{\pm}6.942$) was significantly higher than that of non-smoking group ($21.05{\pm}6.697$) in early stage of semester. The exhaustion score of female ($27.47{\pm}5.762$) was higher than that of male ($26.02{\pm}6.536$) (p=.024), and the inefficacy score of Taeeumin ($20.13{\pm}5.244$) was significantly higher than that of Soyangin ($18.15{\pm}5.588$) in the end stage of semester. The healthcare college student experiences academic burn-out, and there is significantly different according to gender and SC in sub-pattern. Further study is needed to manage the academic burn-out according gender and Sasang constitution.

Comparative Study on Handwashing Attitudes and Performances of University Students According to Handwashing Education and Promotion Experience (손씻기 교육과 홍보 경험에 따른 대학생의 손씻기 태도와 수행도 비교연구)

  • This study was attempted to compare and analyze college students' handwashing performance and attitude according to their handwashing education and promotion experience. The subjects of the study were 205 university students, and data were collected using a self-reported structured questionnaire. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and independent t-test were conducted using SPSS 22.0 program, and the results of the study are as follows. Both the handwashing performance and attitude according to the handwashing education of college students were statistically significantly higher in the subjects who received the education. As a result of analyzing the handwashing performance and attitude according to the handwashing promotion of college students, there was a statistically significant difference in the handwashing attitude, but the handwashing performance was not significant. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to strengthen university students' handwashing education and promotion, and efforts to improve handwashing performance and attitude will be needed.

Mediating effect of self-control in the relationship between internet addiction and internet ethics awareness in healthcare-related college students (보건계열 대학생이 지각하는 인터넷 윤리의식과 인터넷 중독성향과 관계에서 자기 통제력의 매개효과)

  • This research aims to investigate how healthcare professionals can control their behaviors in the internet and the status of their Internet addiction, thus emphasizing appropriate internet ethics awareness of students majoring in healthcare-related field, the future healthcare professionals. The goal of this research is to verify the mediating effect of self-control between the status of internet addiction of healthcare-related college students and their internet ethical awareness. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 236 students majoring in healthcare-related fields in 5 universities located in D city from March to April, 2016. The result of analyzing correlation of Internet addiction, internet ethics awareness, and self-control shows that self-control is negatively correlated with internet addiction but positively correlated with internet ethics awareness. The result of research suggests that self-control does have partial mediation effect on internet addiction and internet ethical awareness. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop mediator program that enhances self-control in order to improve internet ethical awareness of healthcare-related college students and develops measures to prevent addition to the internet, one of the primary cause of decline in internet ethics awareness.

Impact of Resilience in school-age children related to sense of music and humor (학령기아동의 음악적 성향과 유머감각이 자아탄력성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of sense of humor and music on the resilience of elementary school students with general characteristics. The subject were 265 children who were 4th to 6th grade elementary students who lived in Seoul, Gyeongi - do and Gangwon - do. The subject reported their sense of humor, sense of music and resilience on three separate questionnaires. The data were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics and t-test, ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test. The results showed an increase in resilience related to the higher income status, young aged mothers and birth order. The elementary students with a sense of humor and music and resilience showed a significant positive correlation with each other. The results of this study can be utilized as a source in the development of programs applying sense of humor and music to improve the resilience of elementary school students.

Factors influencing death anxiety, hospices knowledge, and attitude towards end-of-life care among paramedic students (응급구조과 대학생의 죽음불안, 호스피스 지식과 임종돌봄 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing death anxiety, hospices knowledge, and attitude towards end-of-life care among paramedic students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 196 paramedic students in D university college in J city from November 2011 to November 2014. The study instruments included death anxiety, hospices knowledge, and attitude towards end-of-life care. Data were analyzed by t test, ANOVA, post hoc $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation test, and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS v. 20.0. Results: According to a stepwise regression on the factors influencing attitudes towards end-of-life care, 80.4% of variance (F=161.360, p<.001) was explained by experience of death, hospices knowledge, disappearance of death anxiety, satisfaction with relationships (${\geq}2$) and student attitude toward end-of-life care. In addition, 44.1% of the variance (F=39.434, p<.001) was explained by experience of death, satisfaction with relationship(${\leq}4$), warning of others about death anxiety, and family attitude towards end-of-life care. Conclusion: The attitude towards end-of-life care was influenced by hospices knowledge and death anxiety in paramedic students. It is necessary to provide training in understanding attitudes towards death anxiety and end-of-life care. An effective educational program should be developed and implemented among paramedic students to improve their awareness of death and anxiety hospices knowledge.

An Integrative Review on Korean Studies Related to Character Education Program for University Students (대학생 대상 인성교육 프로그램 관련 국내 연구논문의 통합적 고찰)

  • This study examined the characteristics of a character education program for university students by reviewing the Korean studies and incorporating the results. The research method was an integrated literature review, and for the study, 13 articles were selected by searching with key words, such as 'university student', 'character', and 'program' in 3 research databases, spanning between 2000 and 2015. The results showed that research on the character education program for university students is common, and have been studied for the purpose of self-knowledge and improvement of sociality. Regarding the effective variables, research on self-esteem has attracted the most attention. Based on the research result, the development of a program including various aspects of character is needed, and character education should be arranged over a long period of time with the cooperation of home, school, and whole society, not a one-time and temporary education.

The Comparison of Learning Experience, Recognition of Importance, Learning Self-Efficacy and Self-Confidence for Core Fundamental Nursing Skills according to the Grade of Nursing College Student (간호대학생의 학년별 핵심기본간호술에 대한 학습경험, 중요성인식, 수행자신감, 학습 자기효능감의 차이비교)

  • 본 연구는 핵심기본간호술을 중심으로 간호학생이 학년별에 따라 학습경험, 중요도 인식, 수행자신감 학습 자기효능감에 어떤 차이가 있는지를 파악하기 위해 실시한 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구대상자는 D지역 소재 일개대학 간호학과 재학중인 231명이었으며, 자료 수집은 2015년 5월에서 6월 까지 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS 21.0 Program을 이용하여 t-test로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 대상자의 학습경험은 학년간의 유의한 차이가 있었다(t=5.009, p<.001). 핵심기본간호술 난이도에 따른 학년별 학습경험의 차이검정을 살펴보면 핵심술 상영역, 핵심술 중영역, 핵심술 하영역에서 모두 학년간에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 중요성인식은 학년간에 유의한 차이는 없었다(t=.288, p>.773). 핵심기본간호술 난이도에 따른 학년별 차이는 핵심술 상영역과 핵심술 하영역은 학년간에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 그러나 핵심술 중영역은 학년간의 유의한 차이가 없었다. 수행자신감은 학년간에 유의한 차이가 있었다(t=7.845, p<.001). 핵심기본간호술 난이도에 따른 학년별 수행자신감의 차이를 살펴보면 핵심술 상영역, 핵심술 중영역, 핵심술 하영역모두에서 학년간에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 학습 자기효능감은 학년간에 유의한 차이가 있었다(t=2.370, p<.019). 따라서 본 연구결과를 토대로 각 학년별 효율적인 실습운영 방안을 모색할 필요가 있으며, 아울러 학습경험을 높이고 중요성인식에 따른 학습경험을 높이고 수행자신감과 학습 자기효능감을 증진시킬 수 있는 교과과정 모색이 절실히 필요하다.

A Comparison of Alcohol-related Problems between Men and Women in Korean University Students (대학생의 성별에 따른 음주 이유와 문제음주 관련요인)

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the reasons for drinking and alcohol-related problems, and to identify the factors related with alcohol problems by gender among university students in Korea. Methods: A total of 472 students (47% men; 53% women) in four universities in Korea participated in this study. The following instruments were used the Reasons for Drinking Questionnaire (RFDQ) and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). Results: In results the mean AUDIT was 9.6 (${\pm}5.4$) for men and 6.4 (${\pm}4.7$) for women, and there were high correlations between the AUDIT score and the reasons for drinking. The factors related with AUDIT score were age, the age of first smoking, and social reasons for drinking in men, but religion, age of first smoking, and negative reasons for drinking in women. Conclusion: This study reveals the reasons for drinking and alcohol related problems were different from drinking by gender among university students in Korea.

Middle School Students' Perceptions of Sexual Violence (성폭력에 대한 중학생의 인식과 경험)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the experience of sexual violence and sexual violence education. The data were collected from June 19 to July 14. 2000 using the questionnaire. The Subjects of this study consisted of 736 middle school students in six provinces(Seoul, Incheon, Daegu, Kyunggi, Kangwon, Kyungbuk). Data were analyzed using percentage, mean standard deviation. ANOVA. and Duncan test. The results were as follows: 1. About sixty-two percent of the subjects was educated for sexual violence. 2. About twenty-five percent of the subjects experienced sexual harassment, 12.1% of the subjects experienced serious sexual contact, and 2.0% of the subjects was raped. 3. The mean score of misconception related sexual violence was $2.86{\pm}0.47$. 4. The mean score of misconception related sexual violence showed significant differences in experience of education(t=-3.83. P<.0001), in delayed time of education(F=6.33. P<.0001) and in reading of pornomagazine(F=2.03. P<.05). 5. The mean score of misconception related sexual violence showed significant differences in experience of sexual harassment(t=-1.92. P<.05) and in experience of serious sexual contact (t=-2.41. P<.01). 6. There was a significant differences in misconception related sexual violence between boy and girl(t=5.79. P<.0001). According to the above results, realistic and future-directed sexual violence education materials should be developed for middle school students. This information will provide useful data to promote a more systemic, desirable and sexual violence education.

Convergent Relationships among Appearance Satisfaction, Self-Esteem, and Problem-Solving Ability of Adolescent (청소년의 외모만족도와 자존감 및 문제해결력의 융합적 관계)

  • This study was a descriptive survey grasping the convergent relationship among the appearance satisfaction, self-esteem, and problem-solving ability of adolescents. The participants were 158 students of two middle schools in J city. The appearance satisfaction, self-esteem, problem-solving ability and general characteristics of students were measured. The data were collected from September 26 to October 14, 2016. The collected data was analyzed with t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients. As a result, the level of appearance satisfaction, self-esteem and problem-solving ability were relatively above moderate. Problem-solving ability was positively correlated with appearance satisfaction(r=.602 p<.001) and self-esteem(r=.881, p<.001). Therefore, the arbitration program development and convergent access which can improve the appearance satisfaction and self-esteem in order to raise the program-solving ability is required.
