As a society rapidly advances in technology and industry, various demands for information arc increasing and becoming more specialized than every before. The college library can no longer restrict its service to the people or, the campus alone. There is no fundamental change in its place on a college campus, but it has an additional role to play: to meet the demands for information from the community outside of the campus. Thyre is no denying that there are public libraries meant to serve the comnlunity and some small spacialized libraries to support certain institutions. But it is also well known that these libraries are inadequate to satisfy the demands for information in a highly diversified and specialized soceity of today largely due to lack of facilities, funds. and personnel. Under these circdmstances, it is almost imperative that the college library open its door to the community. It was attempted in the article to point out the nccds of cooperation between the college library and the community for economic and intellectual advancement on thc campus and in the community. Various ways of making the college library available to the community werc also discussed.

The objective of this study is to analyse the current status and problems of the junior college libraries in Korea which is being placed in the inferior environment relatively and to present the improvement program against hereupon. The concept and an objective of the junior colleges were examined, the problems against an external environment through various statistics of their academic libraries were also presented. The instance academic libraries based on their number of book collection in the city of Taegu area were selected to prepare the improvement program. Information service instance which hits to the junior colleges were collected through analysing the web site of the corresponding library, and the depth interview to the corresponding junior college librarians was also executed.

This paper is intended to analyze and investigate the versity libraries in Korea. Korean academic libraries are facing serious space shortage problems due to an inability to accommodate for the rapidly increasing number of printed materials. Despite the current situation, Korean academic libraries have largely focused on impractical applications of the new library paradigm, using technology or management programs to improve the quality of research and learning environments of the university. However, such improvements would be fruitless without first resolving the space shortage crisis. In order to make realistic improvements to the quality of academic libraries, this study used questionnaires to employ the opinions of librarians currently practicing at such Korean libraries. Survey questionnaires about types and causes of space shortage problems, library facility expansion plans, expected effects of expansion, frequency of and reasons for furniture relocation, and tight spaces needing improvement were distributed to selected 4-year college librarians through Google Drive. Analysis of survey responses indicated that library space shortage was largely responsible for the hindrance of research and learning environments. Furthermore, it reflected the urgency to secure book storage space.

With accommodation of a population of many young people and families due to Hangang River New Town Housing Project and development of railway station spheres, a need is increasing to improve the quality of public libraries service for Gimpo citizens and to establish more libraries. This study thus analyzed the book lending data of Gimpo City libraries, and the city's libraries-related social media big data in an effort to forecast the users, and thus to propose four library service improvement measures. First, in terms of book gathering and book development policy plans, a proposal was made to expand good books for children and youth, and to expand general original-language books related to learning of English, and English books for children. Second, in terms of the establishment of additional libraries or specialization strategy, a proposal was made to establish exclusive children's libraries or English libraries, and to establish library specialization strategy with a focus on children and English themes. Third, in terms of library culture programs, a proposal was made to provide library culture programs in relation to children education and to expand weekend library culture programs. Fourth, in terms of library facilities, considering the convenience of parking facilities, a proposal was made to establish libraries near apartment complexes.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the currently operating subject guides in academic libraries and to suggest measures for improvements of them. To do this, 22 out of 151 academic libraries which have more than 1,000 enrolled college students in the university and two institutes of science and technology were selected and the libraries were analyzed according to 12 criteria. The main results of the data analysis were as follows: First, the subject guides did not clearly indicate which service tool to use. Second, there was a difference in the subject guide format in the same academic library. Third, libraries tried to provide a lot of information sources on the subject guides without considering users' needs. By offering many kinds of information sources, students had to choose the information sources they needed. Improvement plans are: First, it is necessary to develop the subject guide of the college courses. Second, Content-based subject guides are necessary through standardized format. Third, it is necessary to unify the name of menu of information resource. Fourth, the number of information sources included in the subject guides should be minimized. Fifth, it is necessary to establish a cooperation system between academic libraries to develop the subject guides.

This study is on the history of classification in Western library from ancient to Harris(1870), before Dewey. It looks into the classification systems of librarians, bibliographers, booksellers and libraries of that time. One of the earliest was the classification of the clay tablets in the Assyrian library of Assurbanipal. But the earliest recorded system in the papyrus is that which Callimachus(B.C. 310-240) devised for the library at Alexandria. In the medival, the monastry libraries used many classifications. but their libraries were very small. Gesner, Naude, Brunet, Jefferson, Edwards, Harris etc. tried to make a good classification for bibliographies and libraries. Especially Brunet made the scheme based on the French system, and it used on bibliographical classification and shelf classification in the many libraries. In 1859, Edwards made the classification scheme for the public library in the Great Britain. In 1870, Harris made the famous inverted Baconian classification and it strongly influenced the Dewey Decimal Classification.

In this study, libraries of national and public universities, libraries of private universities, libraries of colleges, public libraries of local governments were selected to measure, compare and analyze the differences in job satisfaction of librarians working in different types of libraries. As for measurement items, 10 factors for job satisfaction were chosen. In doing so, this researcher compared and analyzed the overall job satisfaction and work satisfaction, employment satisfaction, satisfaction with promotion system, satisfaction with work distribution, satisfaction with payment system, satisfaction with service system, satisfaction with facility environment, satisfaction with educational training, satisfaction with welfare system, and satisfaction with personal relations. The results of the analysis on job satisfaction with each factor by librarians working in different types of libraries are presented as follows. First, the overall job satisfaction value of the librarians was 3.940, which means relatively high satisfaction, and in terms of a type of library, libraries of private universities showed the highest value, and the next ones were found to be libraries of colleges, public libraries and libraries of national and public libraries. Secondly, regarding the ranking of the overall satisfaction with the selected 10 job satisfaction factors by different types of libraries, educational training was found to rank the highest, and the next ones were surveyed to be the job, the service system, the personal relations, the employment system, the work distribution, the facility environment, the payment system, the welfare system, and the promotion system.

The syntheses of different types of stilbenoid libraries have been studied recently. In these courses, the screening of the generated natural product-mimic focused libraries led to the identification of the novel lead compounds for human cytochrome P450 (CYP) lAs, melanin production, and sortase A. A library of trans-stilbene derivatives was prepared through a new efficient solution pahse synthetic pathway and their inhibitory activities were evaluated on human cytochrome P450s(CYP) 1A1, 1A2, and 1B1 to find a potent and selective CYP1 inhibitor.
