A Garbage Collection Method for Flash Memory Based on Block-level Buffer Management Policy

  • Flash memory has become the most important storage media in mobile devices along with its attractive features such as low power consumption, small size, light weight, and shock resistance. However, a flash memory can not be written before erased because of its erase-before-write characteristic, which lead to some garbage collection when there is not enough space to use. In this paper, we propose a novel garbage collection scheme, called block-level buffer garbage collection. When it is need to do merge operation during garbage collection, the proposed scheme does not merge the data block and corresponding log block but also search the block-level buffer to find the corresponding block which will be written to flash memory in the next future, and then decide whether merge it in advance or not. Our experimental results show that the proposed technique improves the flash performance up to 4.6% by reducing the unnecessary block erase numbers and page copy numbers.

  • In recently, interests in the New & Renewable Energy are increasing because of exhaustion of fossil energy and limit of greenhouse gas emission all over the world. Furthermore, improvements in living standards and high-raise Buildings due to the industrial growth require a lot of sunlight in the interior space. Sunlight system gets the natural light into the indoor dark space. There are a lot of type of systems which are reflector type, duct type, optical fibers type and so on. And these systems consist of light-collection module, light-transporting module and light-emitting module. In this research, we installed optical fiber sunlight system in our head office building and tested the system's performance and efficiency. Optical fiber sunlight system is closely connected with hour of sunlight, due to the system have to chase the sun for the solar concentrating, and the system's light-collection and light- transporting efficiency is important factors in the system's performance. As a result of the test, system can be used about 5.66 hours on average in a day, and it has a about 3.21 times collection efficiency and 5.5% transmission loss.

Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network harvester improvement for efficient open-data collection and management

  • With the recent increase in data disclosure, the Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network (CKAN), which is an open-source data distribution platform, is drawing much attention. CKAN is used together with additional extensions, such as Datastore and Datapusher for data management and Harvest and DCAT for data collection. This study derives the problems of CKAN itself and Harvest Extension. First, CKAN causes two problems of data inconsistency and storage space waste for data deletion. Second, Harvest Extension causes three additional problems, namely source deletion that deletes only sources without deleting data themselves, job stop that cannot delete job during data collection, and service interruption that cannot provide service, even if data exist. Based on these observations, we propose herein an improved CKAN that provides a new deletion function solving data inconsistency and storage space waste problems. In addition, we present an improved Harvest Extension solving three problems of the legacy Harvest Extension. We verify the correctness and the usefulness of the improved CKAN and Harvest Extension functions through actual implementation and extensive experiments.

공공도서관 시니어 이용자의 정보이용요구 조사 및 서비스 개선방안 연구 (A Study on Information Needs of Senior Users and Service Improvement in Public Library)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 공공도서관 시니어이용자의 정보이용요구를 조사하고 이를 기반으로 시니어서비스 개선방안을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 인구통계 및 공공도서관 통계를 분석하였고, 강서구 도서관의 시니어이용자를 대상으로, 도서관의 장서, 프로그램, 서비스, 공간에 대한 의견과 요구를 조사하였다. 조사는 설문과 면담으로 진행되었으며, 조사 결과를 바탕으로 시니어서비스 개선은 콘텐츠 맞춤화 장서, 과거·현재·미래를 연결하는 프로그램, 접근과 홍보가 강화된 서비스, 시니어를 배려하는 전용공간 확보 등으로 나아가야 할 것을 제안하였다.

  • The notion of asymptotically negative dependence for collection of random variables is generalized to a Hilbert space and the almost sure convergence for these H-valued random variables is obtained. The result is also applied to a linear process generated by H-valued asymptotically negatively dependent random variables.

지속가능한 측면에서의 주거공간 신소재의 기준 및 특성 (A Study on the Criteria and Characteristics of New Material for Housing Space Focused on Sustainability)

  • The study was to grasp features of new material applicable to housing space in the sustainable side by analyzing materialistic features of new material and features of sustainable material with sustainable new material. Through analysis on sustainable new material, the study deducted the below conclusion. First, through the precedent studies, the characteristics of sustainable materials have been classified into eight categories : friendly healthiness, non-toxicity, comfortableness, naturality, recycling, harmlessness of environment, separate collection, reusability. After the criteria have been brought up from new material applicable to housing space in the sustainable. Second, in materialistic Characteristics of new material, 'New Process' was mainly applied. There was no any new material applied to 'new raw material'. Therefore, it is thought that it is necessary to study on development of perfectly new material and to study on new material to apply material used in other fields to finishing material of dwelling space. Third, in Characteristics of sustainable material, 'Re-serviceability' appeared most and 'Non-toxicity' and 'Recycling' appeared in the next. 'Friendly Healthiness' and 'Separate collection' appeared only one on the other side. Therefore, it is judged that it is necessary to develop and study new material including health components considering user's health, function for health increase and function to grope comfort for humans. Finally, after researching and analysis the criteria by recently presented the new material, it has been concluded that the standard can be used as the criteria of new material for the possibility of application in housing space. On the basis of the study, the author will carry out analysis on sustainable new material minutely and utilize it as basic data to suggest a standard of sustainable new material applicable to dwelling space in the future.

효율적 의사결정을 위한 빅데이터 활용 스마트 스페이스 플랫폼 연구 (Smart Space based on Platform using Big Data for Efficient Decision-making)

  • 전 세계 4차 산업혁명의 도래에 맞춰 한국은 적극적으로 국가적 대응계획 I-Korea 4.0을 수립하여 2017년 11월에 발표하였다. 이 계획은 국가성장을 위한 산업혁신과 사회문제 해결을 목표로 하고 있다. 부동산산업도 예외는 아니며 산업혁신을 위해서는 스마트환경에서 주거, 상업, 업무, 복합 등 다양한 가용공간의 효과적 활용이 선행되어야 한다. 이를 위해서는 효율적 의사결정이 필요하고 이는 공간수요자 행태의 실시간 정보와 정확한 예측이 이루어 질 때 가능하다. 이에, 본 연구는 빅데이터 기반 스마트 스페이스 플랫폼을 제안하고 플랫폼의 구조와 서비스를 구체화 시키고자 한다. 스마트 스페이스 플랫폼도 스마트 트래픽, 스마트 시티, 스마트 헬스 등 다양한 스마트환경 적용사례처럼 급속히 발전하고 있는 정보통신기술(ICT)을 이용해 빅데이터의 효율적 저장, 접근, 분석, 활용이 가능하다. 스마트 스페이스 플랫폼의 구조는 6개 레이어 즉, Collection layer, Transfer layer, Storage layer, Service layer, Application layer, Management layer로 구성된다. 이 플랫폼은 의사결정자들이 행위기반(activity-based), 시장기반(market-based), 정책기반(policy-based) 빅데이터를 Searching, Mining, Integrating, Storing, Analyzing, Visualizing 할 수 있는 서비스체계를 가지고 있다.

아파트 평면형태에 따른 발코니 공간의 사용행태에 관한 연구 (Residents' Using Behavior of the Balcony Space by the Unit-plan Type of Apartment Housing)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the using behavior of the balcony space in apartment housing for improving apartment balcony as dwelling space. For that, it is needed to identify the practical meaning of balcony space as function so balcony expansion and the using behavior of balcony space were investigated and analyzed. For this study, survey and depth-interview methods were used for data collection. The major findings were as followings: 1) Balcony expansion mainly occurred in balcony of livingroom and bedroom. Balcony expansion showed several phases according to the type of plan and function of balcony space and few residents chose expansion of all balconies. 2) The using behavior of balcony space was categorized by these various functions of balconies. It was also related to unit-plan type of apartment housing. These results can provide improvement guidelines for the balcony with the differentiation of design factors for residents.

샤넬 컬렉션에 나타난 인터미디어와 패션쇼의 관계적 특성 (Relationship characteristics of intermedia and fashion show in the Chanel collection)

  • The aim of this paper is to examine relationship characteristics and the relevance there of in the context of the Chanel collection, between the contemporary fashion show viewed from the artistic side and intermedia on interaction. This study analyzed the relationship characteristics between intermedia and fashion shows by focusing on Chanel fashion shows from 2010 S/S to 2016 F/W as actual case. The results are as follow: First, participational accessibility indicates the experience of a designer and audience in active participation changing into passive participation. Second, audience immersion is represented by the perception of being involved by the audience in the place and acting. Third, conceptual symbolism is sending of messages through the designer's concept manifesting in the specific features of the design. Finally, expandability of media explains trans-boundaries in experimental attempts. It concludes that fashion show is a space where the audience can have visual as well as new knowledge and experience through multi-sensory channels. The Chanel collection which is considered a huge art project at the fashion show, showed a relationship between philosophy and the direction through season concepts and brands. The Chanel collection has brought a new experience through the convergence of communications and cultural media, such as music and art according to traditional brand image.

영국 월레스 컬렉션의 상설 보존 전시관 운영을 통해 본 보존과 일반 대중과의 교류 (Communicating Conservation to the General Public:Conservation Gallery Exhibition at the Wallace Collection, London, UK)

  • 영국 국립 박물관 중의 하나인 런던의 월레스 컬렉션은 보존과 관련된 상설 전시를 하고 있는데, 유물의 제작 기법과 재료를 다룬 전시뿐 아니라, 보존에 관한 특별 주제로 전시를 하기도 한다. 월레스 컬렉션의 현재 보존관련 상설전시와 특별 전시 그리고 영국 내 다른 박물관의 예를 통해서, 보존과 일반 대중과의 관계와 교류의 변화를 살펴보고자 한다. 박물관은 기존에는 수동적 정보 전달의 역할이었지만, 현재는 보다 적극적인 교육에 초점을 맞추면서, 보존도 일반 대중의 위한 프로그램과 전시를 통해 이러한 변화에 동참하는 추세다.
