Purpose: We aimed to provide effective emergency medical services (EMS) response strategies for coping with high acuity patients during the pandemic by analyzing the influence of the COVID-19 and social distancing on EMS. Methods: In this retrospective observational study, we analyzed the distribution of high acuity patients transported by Daejeon 1-1-9 EMS during the COVID-19 pandemic period, between February 1, 2020 and October 31, 2020 and the same period in 2019, as well as the level 3 social distancing enforced period, between July 27, 2020 and October 31, 2020. Results: The EMS dispatches decreased by 17% during the observed COVID-19 pandemic period compared to the same period in 2019. The number of cases with cardiac arrest and positive prehospital stroke scale rose by (p<.001). Patients with cardiac arrest, trauma, and positive prehospital stroke scale increased by during the level 3 social distancing period. Conclusion: Unlike the decreased EMS call volume and patient transports during the COVID-19 pandemic, cardiac arrest cases and the severity of high acuity patients tended to increase. We suggest that EMS systems should contrive a response strategy considering the collateral effect of major epidemics on the incidence rate of high acuity patients.

Although attention to terrorism has increased sharply in recent years within many countries, it is by no means a new phenomenon. Majority of these countries have limited regulations or guidelines about terrorism. LOP (Level Of Protection) can be consider as a first step. This paper seeks to present a process to determine LOP and allowable damage. LOP is determined by asset value reason why it should be based on cost. The asset value is defined as "cost induced when asset is damaged". For example, the collateral damage outside the facility should be taken in consideration in the asset value. Allowable structural damage is assigned depending on LOP.
Eleven cases of peripheral arterial injuries treated at Korea University Woo Sok Hospital during these 3 years and 3 months from Feb. 1971Eleven cases of peripheral arterial injuries treated at Korea University Woo Sok Hospital during these 3 years and 3 months from Feb. 1971 to May 1974 were reviewed. Common causes of injuries were stab wound, automobile accidents and iatrogenic injuries during operation. Of the 11 arterial injuries 3 were femoral artery which` was the commonest in frequency and the next was 2 cases of brachial artery. The most frequent type of injury was transection. Laceration, contusion and spasm was also recognized. The need to operate immediately following an injury was emphasized. Operative procedures were end to end anastomosis and saphenous vein graft in 5 and 2 cases, respectively. Other cases were undergone multiple suture ligature due to staphyllococcal infection, insertion of polyethylene catheter, and lateral suture after thromboendarterectomy. Fractures and extensive soft tissue damage associated with arterial injuries with widespread destruction of the collateral circulation aggravated the situation and complicated the amputation of lower extremity in 4 cases. The factors influencing the amputation were time lag, presence of associated injuries and complications.[KTCS 1974;1:109-116] Common causes of injuries were stab wound, automobile accidents and iatrogenic injuries during operation. Crime victims have had features of both causing a crime and the object of protection from the society. These contrasting characteristics have led to develop victimology. As the result, the classification of the victim has been generalized. Direct damage caused by the crime victim is grouped into the first damage, and collateral damages caused by the 1st one are could be identified as the 2nd or the 3rd one. In this paper, it is aimed that problems of victim classification in Korea have been studied by comparing foreign countries' classification.
Purpose: To report the results of arthroscope assisted posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction without tourniquet, which has not yet been reported in documents within the country. Materials and Methods: Out of the 75 cases of arthroscope assisted posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction on patients with posterior cruciate ligament damage from January, 1998 to May,2003 in this hospital, study was done on 49 cases of patients with isolated posterior cruciate ligament damage, excluding 16 cases of patients who were applied tourniquet in extraarticular operation due to combined damage such as in lateral collateral ligament and posterolateral collateral ligament, and 10 cases where the postoperative observation period was less than 12 months. There were 13 cases where reconstruction was done using autogenous bone-patella tendon-bone, 19 cases using allogenous bone-patella tendon-bone, and 17 cases using allogenous achilles tendon. For assessment, the 49 cases were compared using Lysholm knee scoring scale. Results: The average duration of operation was 105 minutes. There were no severe complications such as swelling, bleeding, infection etc . Assessment results attained by Lysholm knee scoring scale was 74(fair) for cases where autogenous bone-patella ten-don-bone was used,75(fair) for cases where allogenous achilles tendon was used, and 76(fair) for cases where allogenous bone-patella tendon-bone was used. Conclusion: There are no difficulties to perform the arthroscopic assisted posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Reconstruction without tourniquet can be thought to prevent complications that could follow when using it.

The principal basic concepts of aseismic design minimize damage of human-life and have little probability during life of structures. For detailed understanding of the design, the best reasonable countermeasure can be possible equally the smallest damage of human-life and economic loss. As a result, it can be achieved by notion of not structure-centered but city-centered, the notion is actualized by development of a macro-level evaluation. A seismic damage between city and country is different. And the larger the city then, the greater the loss by rather collateral hazards than collapse of structures. Hence, the macro-evaluation of an earthquake disaster is suitable for an old city where is center of political and economic activity, and is concentration of population and infrastructure. This study aims to develop comprehensive earthquake desaster risk index, and assesses relative earthquake risk of six zones in Seoul metropolitan area.

The shape of combustion nozzles varies from large diameter to small diameter ones. In the case of small nozzle, nozzle exit can be easily winkled or damaged in machining process. Femtosecond laser is a micro machining technology that is able to drill a small nozzle without damaging the nozzle exit. In this experiment, a small nozzle of combustion was fabricated by using a femtosecond laser. The fabricated nozzle of combustion provided a very small nozzle diameter with clean nozzle exit without wrinkling or collateral damage.

In 2022, construction had a five fold higher accident and fatality rate compared to the overall industry. The Construction Technology Promotion Act requires parties in construction contracts to calculate safety costs following Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport guidelines. Understanding safety expense components is vital for evaluating accident prevention costs and planning anti-accident strategies. A study surveyed safety professionals to analyze the importance and influence of safety management expense components, providing basic data for future research. Survey results highlighted the significance of safety management plans, structural safety assurance, and preventing collateral damage.

Herein, we present a case of a successful treatment of persistent type 2 endoleaks associated with aneurysmal sac enlargement after endovascular aneurysm repair in an elderly patient. We confirmed the diagnosis by abdominal computed tomography and selective angiography revealing an 11.0-cm aneurysm sac with type 2 endoleaks. An attempt for the endovascular embolization of collateral arteries was unsuccessful due to anatomic variations and their multiple complex communications. Instead, transperitoneal sacotomy and direct suturing on the feeding target vessels was successfully performed without any endograft damage. In conclusion, sacotomy appears to be a feasible therapeutic substitute where endovascular or other techniques have a high risk of failure and lead to unsuccessful results.
Objective : Generally speaking Reverting yin disease pattern(厥陰病) is the last step in cold damage(傷寒). Therefore recognized Yin cold disease(陰寒病) is increasing, and resist action One Yang qi(一陽) began to creep into body. But Ke Qin(柯琴) have a different way of thinking that Reverting yin disease pattern connected with the loss of Liver's function. Liver qi depression(肝鬱) make a ministerial fire(相火), and it make a nutrient and blood insufficiency(營血不足). Method : I will try to describe the Sanghanlun's Reverting yin disease pattern through the Ke-qin's JueyinbingJie(厥陰病解), and I would like to point out that the exact meaning of Reverting yin(厥陰) is connected with Liver's ministerial fire. Result : Ke Qin's JueyinbingJie explained the Reverting yin disease pattern was connected with Liver(肝), and according to Six qi theory(六氣學說) connected with ministerial fire, and according to meridian and Collateral theory(經絡學說) connected with closing referring to inward actions(闔) among the Opening closing and pivot(關闔樞). Conclusion : Ke Qin was recognized that Reverting yin disease pattern have relevance to the loss of Liver's function. In other world, It is connect with soothe the liver and purge fire(疏肝瀉火) and nutrient and blood insufficiency(營血不足).
