A number of studies have been conducted recently regarding the development of automation systems for the construction sector. Much of this attention has focused on earthwork because it is highly dependent on construction machines and is regarded as being basic for the construction of buildings and civil works. For example, technologies are being developed in order to enable earthwork planning based on construction site models that are constructed by automatic systems and to enable construction equipment to perform the work based on the plan and the environment. There are many problems that need to be solved in order to enable the use of automatic earthwork systems in construction sites. For example, technologies are needed for enabling collaborations between similar and different kinds of construction equipment. This study aims to develop a construction system that imitates collaborative systems and decision-making methods that are used by humans. The proposed system relies on the multi-agent concept from the field of artificial intelligence. In order to develop a multi-agent-based system, configurations and functions are proposed for the agents and a framework for collaboration and arbitration between agents is presented. Furthermore, methods are introduced for preventing duplicate work and minimizing interference effects during the collaboration process. Methods are also presented for performing advance planning for the excavators and compactors that are involved in the construction. The current study suggests a theoretical framework and evaluates the results using virtual simulations. However, in the future, an empirical study will be conducted in order to apply these concepts to actual construction sites through the development of a physical system.

This study aims to establish a simulation method for CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) sight area. The simulation incorporates variables for computing CCTV sight area including CCTV specifications and installation. Currently CCTV is used for traffic, crime prevention and fire prevention by local governments. However, new locations are selected by administrator decision rather than analysis of the optimal location. In order to determine optimum location, a method to CCTV compute range is needed, which incorporates specifications according to CCTV purpose. For this purpose, limitations of previous research methods must be recognized and the simulation method must supplement these limitations. Here in this study, we derived CCTV sight area variables for realistic analysis to complement the limitations of previous studies. A total of eight elements were derived from image device sensors and installation: wide angle, height, angle, setting height, setting angle, and others. This research implemented a 3D simulation technique that can be applied to the derived factors and automate them using ArcObject and Visual C#. This simulation method can calculate sight range in accordance with CCTV specifications. Furthermore, when installing additional CCTVs, it can derive optimal allocation position. The results of this study will provide rational choices for specification selection and CCTV location by interagency collaborative projects.

In highly complex EPC(engineering, procurement, construction)-based manufacturing processes such as shipbuilding and marine plants, it is essential to prepare a way to enable organic working at the site referring to each other's detailed working data for collaboration between partner companies. However, companies cannot share the progress of the sites including working information in real-time due to the use of SW unique to each company and the complex site management system. As a result, the construction process is delayed, and resources are used inefficiently. This study developed a neutral data generation algorithm that can apply the working information in various file formats to a collaborative manufacturing process. In addition, this study verified the accuracy of the algorithm by applying the developed algorithm to the manufacturing process of piping in shipbuilding and marine plants, developing the SW for visualization of working information using the generated neutral data, and comparing the coordinate, shape & dimension and the kind, number, and spec. of BOM. The result confirmed that the accuracy of the coordinate of the neutral data was 99%, and that of the shape & dimension of the neutral data and BOM Spec. was both 100%. It is thought that this study can be used for overcoming the restrictions in information sharing due to the development of informatization at companies and maximizing the share of working file information in a complex manufacturing process.
The purpose of this study was to extract of Sub-elements of technological communication skills and to construct of a system model. In order to achieve the goal of the study, it was carried out in two steps: (1)Extraction sub-elements and definitions of technological communication skills, (2)Development of a system model of technological communication skills. Obtained conclusions by the process of this research were as follows. First, sub-elements of the technological communication skills were extracted and they were images, sketches, flowcharts, drawings, prototyping, symbols tables graphs and presentations. Second, using the 'technological communication tools' based on the "collaborative activities in online and offline', technological communication skills were defined as communication skills to be raised through the process of 'Idea through the Communication', 'Realization through the Communication', 'Wrap up through the Communication'. Third, technological communication skills were described as the system, in which 'Idea through the Communication(images, sketches, flowcharts)', 'Realization through the Communication(design, prototyping)', 'Wrap up through the Communication(symbol table graph, presentation)' were collaboratively activated. Fourth, checking tool for the technological communication skills was developed, based on checking tool for the existing communication skills and system model for technological communication skills. And it was improved by the expert validity test.
This study investigated perception of first-year college students who recently experienced technology education in their secondary education for describing contemporary technology classrooms. To accomplish this goal, survey and in-depth interview on their technology classrooms were employed. Participants in this study were 427 first-year college students who began their college life in 2013 and consisted of 224 students enrolled in 10 departments of educational major and 203 students who enrolled in 9 departments of other colleges. The instrument of this study consisted of preference toward technology classrooms and teachers, experience in the secondary technology classrooms, perception toward technology teachers, and suggestions for technology classrooms with five point Likert scales and open-ended questionnaires. And individual in-depth interviews with 22 volunteers who answered the instrument and consented the interview process were conducted. Based on the collected data, statistical and theme analyses were performed and the key findings were as follows. First-year students' experiences for technology classrooms were described with the theme of 'learning contents or activities'(54.4%). And the negative perception toward technology classrooms(29.1%) was larger than he positive perception(16.5%). The perception toward technology classrooms was also presented with two themes of teaching methods and subject interest. The perception toward technology teachers presented a medium level preference with several themes of teachers' teaching methods, teachers' personality, and subject interest. Lecture style method(60.48%) was largely used in the participants' technology classrooms and problem solving or collaborative methods was not frequent(19.31%). The participants indicated a need for improving teaching methods in technology education and suggested sufficient administration and curriculum supports and transitions of the learning contents. Further studies investigating the diverse public's perception toward technology and technology classrooms could be recommended.
Establishment of efficient cooperative ecosystem of research institutes is important for the efficiency of national innovation system, especially in the era of technology convergence. Performance of institutes inside the ecosystem is dependent on the position of the institutes in the system. This study investigates the relationship between network structure and research performance, and determines significant factors on the research performance. The results of 5 year panel data analysis of SCI journal papers of Korean government research institutes indicate that four network centralities -degree, betweenness, closeness, and eigenvector- and structural holes have significant effect on the research performance of the institutes. Among the four centralities, closeness and eigenvectors are more significant than others. Implications of the results of this study for policy of establishing efficient cooperative system are that increasing the cooperative activities of less active institutes is more effective for research performance than increasing the magnitude of cooperative activities of all institutes. Also, when an institute starts a new cooperative relationship, it is better to have relationship with an active institute first.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of three sub-factors of family resilience on family strength as perceived by university students. The subjects were 409 university students in G area. This study investigated the perception level of family resilience and family strength, the difference in the family strength between the resilient group and non-resilient group and the effect of family resilience on family strength. The study results were as follows: First, the students' perceptions of family resilience and family strength were moderately high. Second, the students with positive perceptions of all three family resilience sub-factors (resilient group) also had a higher perceived family strength than the non-resilient group. Third, gender was found to have an influence on family strength, with the male students having a higher perceived family strength. All three sub-factors of family resilience were statistically significant and the belief system and organizational pattern had a strong influence on the family strength. In particular, the belief system was the most powerful factor affecting the family strength. The role clarity, family cohesion and family resource of the family organizational pattern were significant factors. Moreover, collaborative problem solving and open emotional communication also had a significant influence on family strength.

As the first step in developing the optimal co-authorship allocation method, this study investigated the co-authorship allocation standards of Korean Universities on journal publications. The study compared the standards of 27 Korean universities with Library and Information Science (LIS) departments, and analyzed author rankings generated by applying inflated, fractional, harmonic, and university standard method of co-authorship allocation to 189 Korean LIS faculty publications from 2001 to 2014. The university standards most similar to the standard co-authorship allocation method in bibliometrics(i.e. Vinkler) were those whose co-author credits summed up to 1. However, the university standards differed from Vinkler's in allocating author credits based on primary and secondary author classification instead of allocation based on author ranks. The statistical analysis of author rankings showed that the harmonic method was most similar to the university standards. However, the correlation between the university standards whose co-author credits summed up to greater than 1 and harmonic method was lower. The study results also suggested that middle-level authors are most sensitive to co-authorship allocation methods. However, even the most generous university standards of co-authorship allocation still penalizes collaborative research by reducing each co-authors credit below those of single authors. Follow-up studies will be needed to investigate the optimal method of co-authorship credit allocation.

The purpose of this study is to measure the extent of collaboration by comparing team size patterns of Korean LIS journals with international LIS journals. For the sample dataset, the top 30 ranked international journals in the field of LIS were selected using the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR), and 4 Korean LIS journals were selected for the years between 2010-2016. The size of the team who authored Korean journal articles were collected from the RISS database, while the size of team who authored international journal articles from the top LIS journals were collected using the Scopus database. The result of this study shows that the most common team size ranged from one member team to three member teams. Overall, the collaborative team size in international journals was higher than Korean journals. In particular, one member team was the most common team size in Korean journals, whereas two members team was most common in the international journals. At the subject level, the most common team size was one team member in the subject area of Library Related, while the most common team size was three team members in the subject area of Science/Engineering. The result of this study suggests that within LIS, the size of teams may vary considerably due to differences in subject areas.

This study suggested a process of redesigning and implementing problem based learning to enhance students' active and collaborative learning activities and learning outcomes. The results of this study are as follows. First, the ef ect of class participation, academic self-regulated learning, and academic self-efficacy were examined. As a result, first, the average of learning activity, class extension, and participation in class was high in the difference between before and after class. Second, the post average scores of all the factors except the 'evaluation' were higher than before. Third, academic self-efficacy showed a significant difference only in 'task preference'. Finally, students' satisfaction with the class was also high. The professor was also able to grasp the characteristics of individual students by designing and operating the classes using PBL, and it was confirmed that the interaction with students increased. Based on the results of this study, we discussed the limitations and educational implications of the problem based learning class and propose successful problem based learning design and operation of the classroom.
