  • This study was to build a collaborative digital library model between KSTI and JST for sharing science and technology information created in Korea and Japan. For this study, digital library framework, it's main concepts and widely-used digital library technologies were investigated. And also, best practices of collaborative digital library were surveyed to characterize collaborative digital library trends. Collaborative Sci-Tech digital library model proposed in this study can be applied in real environment and expanded into other institutions and/or subject areas.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the aspects of elementary school students' interactions shown conceptual changes in collaborative scientific argumentation. Fifty sixth graders of an elementary school in Jeonju were selected for this study. Ten small groups consisting of five students each were organized evenly with considerations of their gender, science achievement, scientific discussion experience and degree of communication apprehension. 'Food web and Ecosystem' and 'Change of Moon shape' were selected as the proper topics of collaborative scientific argumentation in terms of difficulty to be understanded by the $6^{th}$ graders. The small group's dialogue was recorded. The students' activity sheets, field note and interviews of the participants were collected. Based on the collected data, we analyzed the aspect of small groups' interaction shown conceptual change of each student. The result of this study was as follows: The interaction aspects of the small group of students who showed conceptual changes in the collaborative scientific discussion have a tendency of showing their discussion responses, explanation-opposition discourse, the use of rigorous criteria, their collaborative attitude and participation.

  • The goal of this study is to analyze the feasibility of establishment of the collaborative repository for public libraries in Korea. To that end, its feasibilities were analyzed from the sides of the relevant laws, national policy, library's recognition, and actual collection space. As a result, the feasibility of establishment of the collaborative repository was revealed by enough. Accordingly, based on the this basic research, there is a need to develop immediately the construction and operation model of the collaborative repository. And the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and metropolitan city and province must grant priority of cultural policy in the establishment of the collaborative repository.

  • This study examines undergraduate nursing students' user satisfaction and affective experience of collaborative information behavior in a group-based learning through survey method to see the relationship between these factors. For this purpose, the affective experiences (positive and negative aspects) of collaborative information search were examined using the PANAS scale through the same questionnaire. Correlation between students' experiences of collaborative information search and affective aspects were examined, and statistical significance using the t-test were also conducted to measure the relationship among students' demographic factors, experiences of collaborative information search and affective aspects. The results revealed that there was a significant correlation between experiences of collaborative information search and affective aspects. Also, there were significant relationships among students' demographic factors, experiences of collaborative information search and affective aspects. In particular, there were signigicant differences in students' overall satisfaction of collaboration and positive aspects between male and female students who experienced collaborative information search. This study found out the possibilities for a follow-up study for affective aspects in collaborative information behavior.

Analysis of the Effect of Collaborative Problem-Solving Based Science Class on Students' Character Competency in the Elementary School Science 'Dissolution and Solution' Unit (초등학교 과학 '용해와 용액' 단원에서 협력적 문제해결에 기반한 수업이 학생들의 인성역량에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • This study investigated the impact of elementary school science classes based on collaborative problem-solving on the character competency of students. For this purpose, students from 2 classes in 5th grade at an elementary school in a metropolitan city were targeted, and elementary science classes based on collaborative problem-solving were developed and applied to the 5 topics selected from the 'dissolution and solution' unit in the elementary science curriculum. In order to investigate the effect of science class based on collaborative problem-solving on the character competency of students, results of the character competence test before and after the class, reflective writing activity sheets filled out by the students in the experimental group, and questionnaires regarding their changes in character competency after the class were analyzed. The results showed that elementary science classes based on collaborative problem-solving were effective in cultivating the character competence of elementary school students.

  • In this paper, we propose a model of the collaborative authoring tool and its implementation results. In the 'collaborative authoring and automatic distribution system,' users can create eBooks by using partial works (primary and edited sources) on the basis of copyright information registered by the primary author. The Collaborative Authoring Tool is a part of "the collaborative authoring and automatic distribution system" developed through research on "the development of key technologies of social work protection and content mashup tools" as an R&D project granted by the Korea Copyright Commission from 2013. In the collaborative authoring and automatic distribution system, authors of primary sources such as images, audio clips and video clips for eBooks can register them together with the copyright information; users can edit the primary sources to produce secondary sources and in turn register the secondary sources on the system; and users can create and distribute eBooks by using the sources registered in the system.

  • These days we come across many wicked problems whose solutions are beyond individuals intellectual ability. These problems can be resolved through collaborative group interaction. We developed an internet-based asynchronous group interaction support system, after looking into the collaborative problem solving process and the IBIS (Issue-Based Information System) argumentation model. It has the following characteristics ; 1) it is developed based on the modified IBIS model which is a model for group interaction to resolve wicked problems ; 2) it supports both processes of seeking and comparing solutions, while most similar systems do not have a feature to support the latter process ; 3) different structures can be defined dynamically according to the purpose of group interaction, so that it could be used for collaborative problem solving in a specific domain. To show the usability of the system, we carried out an experiment, whose result is shown at the end.

  • In this paper, we propose how to improve the lack of diversity in collaborative filtering, using tag scores contained in items rather than ratings of items. Collaborative filtering has excellent performance among recommendation system, but it is evaluated as lacking diversity. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a method for supplementing diversity lacking in collaborative filtering by using tags. By using tags that can be used universally without using the characteristics of specific articles in a recommendation system, The proposed method can be used.

  • Collaborative filtering, among other recommender systems, has been known as the most successful recommendation technique. However, it requires the user-item rating data, which may not be easily available. As an alternative, some collaborative filtering algorithms have been developed recently by utilizing the market basket data in the form of the binary user-item matrix. Viewing the recommendation scheme as a two-class classification problem, we proposed a new collaborative filtering scheme using a regularized discriminant analysis applied to the binary user-item data. The proposed discriminant model was built in terms of the major principal components and was used for predicting the probability of purchasing a particular item by an active user. The proposed scheme was illustrated with two modified real data sets and its performance was compared with the existing user-based approach in terms of the recommendation precision.

  • The information technology of computers and computer tools have become so powerful that virtual enterprises are not just concepts any longer The virtual enterprises comprise distributed facilities and it is necessary to have a collaborative system among them. This paper proposes the modeling process of web-based collaborative system in the distributed manufacturing environment. It also presents the information infrastructure in order to communicate and to share the information more efficiently among the collaboration subsystem. The web-based collaborative system consists of four processes: 1) product design, 2) procurement of DB information, 3) query process, and 4) negotiation. The proposed web-based collaborative system will be implemented with network technologies.
