With the increased use of surface textured steel sheet in body-in-white assembly, resistance spot weldability of these steels is considered to be an important subject. This study evaluated nugget formation and weldability by measuring dynamic resistance with various weld pressure, current, and weld time for steel sheet with two different surface roughnesses. The surface roughness for T-H steel ($R_{a}=1.70\;{\mu}m$) was higher than that for T-L steel ($R_{a}=1.33\;{\mu}m$), and resulted in increased contact resistance and heating for T-H steel spot welding. Therefore, at low weld current and weld cycle ranges, the T-H steel showed better weldability over the T-L steel. The evaluations of weld interface showed that the fusion zone in the T-H steel sheet was continuous in contrast to discontinuous fusion zone for T-L steel sheet at the same welding conditions. A comparison of dynamic resistance and tensile-shear strength (TSS) between T-H and T-L steel sheet suggested that high surface roughness provided larger heating at early cycle of welding and larger TSS.

0.04% Gd-duplex stainless steels (Gd-DSTSs) for neutron absorbing materials were inert arc-melted and poured into a Y-shape block with the size of $100{\times}100{\times}20[mm]$. The Gd-DSTS was hot rolled at $1200^{\circ}C$ followed by cold rolling to have 33% reduction. The average grain sizes of the rolling (RD), transverse (TD) and short transverse (ST) directions were 6, 7, $11{\mu}m$, respectively. The micro-hardnesses of the RD, TD and ST directions were 258.5, 292.3, 314.7 $H_V$, respectively. Corrosion potential and corrosion rate of the cold rolled Gd-duplex stainless steel in aerated artificial sea water and 0.1M $H_2SO_4$ solution were $0.2216V_{SHE}$, $0.0106A/cm^2$, $-0.0825V_{SHE}$, $0.0168A/cm^2$ for RD, $0.2210V_{SHE}$, $0.0077A/cm^2$, $0.0817V_{SHE}$, $0.0092A/cm^2$ for TD, $0.1056V_{SHE}$, $0.0059A/cm^2$, $0.0475V_{SHE}$, $0.0069A/cm^2$ for ST, respectively. The corrosion behavior depended on the texture, which were due to mainly grain boundary and minorly crystallographic texture. Friction coefficient and wear resistance were 2.07 and 0.48 mm, respectively.
Lean duplex stainless steels with 0.087 wt.% gadolinium (Gd) were inert arc-melted and cast in molds of size $10mm{\times}10mm{\times}20mm$. The micro-hardnesses of the rolling direction (RD), transverse direction (TD) and short transverse (ST) direction were $258.5H_V$, $292.3H_V$, and $314.7H_V$, respectively. A 33% cold rolled specimen had the crystallographic texture that (100) pole was mainly concentrated to the normal direction (ND) and (110) pole was concentrated in the center of ND and RD. The corrosion potential and corrosion rate in artificial seawater and $0.1M\;H_2SO_4$ solution were in the range of $105.6-221.6mV_{SHE}$, $0.59-1.06mA/cm^2$, and $4.75-8.25mV_{SHE}$, $0.69-1.68mA/cm^2$, respectively. The friction coefficient and wear loss of the 0.087 w/o Gd-lean duplex stainless steels in artificial seawater were about 67% and 65% lower than in air, whereas the wear efficiency was 22% higher. The corrosion and wear behaviors of the 0.087 w/o Gd-lean duplex stainless steels significantly depended on the Gd phases.

In this study, the mechanical properties of 80% cold-rolled austenitic 316L stainless steel were evaluated using specimens subjected to reverse transformation at 500-750℃ for 20 minutes and reverse transformation at 700℃ for 2-60 minutes. Also, for the elastic wave obtained from the tensile test, the dominant frequency according to the reverse transformation condition was investigated by time-frequency analysis. The SEM image of the 80% cold-rolled material was transformed into martensite and showed line and cross shapes. The TEM image showed that line shapes were shown at the grain, and grain boundary of martensite. The higher the heat treatment temperature and the longer time, the larger the grain. Tensile strength decreased as the heat treatment temperature and time increased, but elongation increased. Hardness was proportional to tensile strength. This is because the grain with different directions showed the same direction due to reverse transformation. The dominant frequency was decreased and then increased as the temperature and time increased. This is because the direction of the grain is different at a low temperature and the same direction is shown at a high temperature.
In this study, the effect of the welding current on the hardness characteristics and microstructure in the resistance spot welding of 1GPa grade cold-rolled DP steel was investigated, Also, correlation between the hardness and microstructure was discussed. In spite of the change in the welding current, the hardness distributions near weld was similar. the hardness in the HAZ and the fusion zone was higher than that of the base metal and the hardness in the fusion zone was variated with the location. Especially, the hardness of HAZ adjacent to the base metal showed maximum value, and softening zone in the base metal adjacent to HAZ was found. With the increasing of welding current, there were no difference in maximum hardness and average hardness in the fusion zone were, but the hardness of the softening zone reduced. The difference in the hardness in each location of weld due to grain size of prior austenite. The softening of the base metal occurred by tempering of the martensite.
Two laboratory-melt heats of 3.25 silicon-iron were made and processed according to a normal commercial practice. Some of the important processing variables that were studied in relation to secondary recrystallization and texture development were contents of manganese and sulfur, heat-treatments after hot-rolling that were used to achieve different hot-rolled microstructures, and amounts of second cold-reduction. The main effort of the present study was directed toward elucidating the relationships among the amount of second cold-reduction, activation energies associated with secondary recrystallization and texture development. The specimens that had been cold-reduced 10% exhibited only grain growth by strain-induced grain boundary migration and did not exhibit secondary recrystallization. Secondary recrystallization did rot appear to completely occur in the 30% cold-reduced specimens, although the nucleation for secondary recrystallization was observed. The second cold-reduction in an amount of 50% was shown to be the optimun for secondary recrystallization and texture development by subsequent processing.
Recently The automotive industry is trying to increase the energy efficiency by reducing the weight of the car body and engine components as a way to achieve high energy efficiency. In particular, the reduction of the weight of the vehicle through the weight reduction of the vehicle body has the advantage that the fuel consumption and the output can be improved. But at the same time, there is the disadvantage that the strength becomes weak due to the reduction of the material thickness. Therefore, in order to overcome these disadvantages, materials with high strength according to the unit thickness have been actively developed, and researches for applying them have also been increasing. In this study, we will investigate the application of cold rolled steel sheet, which is a lightweight material, to a horn bracket that secures a installed in an automobile engine room. The horn bracket secures the horn on the car engine and is bolted to the outer wall of the engine. The momentum is acted on the bracket due to the distance between the bolt fastening part and the car horn installed on the bracket end side. Therefore, the body part of the bracket is more likely to be destroyed by the influence of the continuous stress. In this paper, design optimization for weight reduction and strength enhancement was performed to solve this problem, and possibility of applying the rolled steel sheet material as lightweight material by tensile test and fabrication was confirmed.

A Cold spot temperature control system for the batch annealing furnace has been estabilished in order to reduce energy consumption to improve productivity and stabilize the propertics of products. Therefore we confirmed a relation between annealing cycle time and atmospheric gas, variation of coil cold spot temperature with time during heating and actual temperature measurements at mid-width of each coil during heating and actual temperature measurements at mid-width of each coil during soaking. The results of the tempaeature variation effect on the batch annealing are as follows. 1) Heating time is reduced to one half with increasing atmospheric gas flow rate and changing of atmospheric gas component from HNx to Ax gas, and annealing cycle time is reduced to 2.7 times. 2) In case of short time healing, the slowest heating part is the center of B coil, in case of long time heating, the low temperature point moves from the center of coil to inside coil. And the temperature in this part is higher than other parts when cooling. When finished heating, the cold spot is located 1/3 of coil inside in case of HNx atmospheric gas. But center of coil in case of Ax atmospheric gas. 3) The outside of top coil is the highest temperature point when heating, which becomes the lowest temperature point when cooling. So, this point becomes high temperature zone at heating and low temperature zone at cooling, It has relation according to atmospheric gas component and flow rate. 4) Soaking time at batch annealing cycle determination is made a decision by the input coil width, and soaking time for quality homogenization of 1214mm width coil must be 2.5 hours longer than that of 914mm width coil for the same ciol weight. 5) Annealing cycle time with Ax atmospheric gas is extended 1 hour in of slow cooling during 5 hours in order to avoid rapid cooling.
The damping capacity and strength of Fe-2Al-26Mn alloys have been studied for the development of new materials with high strength and damping capacity. Particularly, the effect of ${\alpha}'\;and\;{\varepsilon}$ martensite phase, which constitutes the microstructure of cold rolled Fe-Al-Mn alloys, has been investigated in terms of the strength and damping capacity of the alloys. The damping capacity rises with increasing the degree of cold rolling and reveals the maximum value at 25% reduction. The damping capacity is strongly affected by the volume fraction of ${\varepsilon}$ martensite, while the other phases, such as ${\alpha}'$ martensite and austenite phase, actually exhibit little effect on damping capacity. Considering that tensile strength increases and elongation decreases with increasing the volume fraction of ${\alpha}'$ martensite, it is proved that tensile strength is mainly affected by the amount of ${\alpha}'$ martensite.

In the present study, tin-zinc alloys were coated on a cold-rolled steel sheet with variations of electrolyte concentration, additives quantity and current density employing the Hull cell and circulation cell simulator. With an addition of additives of 2m1/L, tin-zinc deposits containing 10 to 40 percent Zn revealed a good surface appearance with weak acidic electrolytes. The organic additives suppressed the Sn deposition rate and thus increased the zinc contents in tin-zinc coating layers. The zinc contents in the tin-zinc coating layers depended almost linearly on the concentrations of metal ions of tin and zinc. Temperature of the electrolyte affected the composition tin-zinc coating layer. However, the concentration of complexants revealed little effectiveness. The surface morphology of tin-zinc coating showed dense tin and zinc phases with fine equiaxed grains with the high current density.
