  • Let $R\;{\in}\;C^{m{\times}m}$ and $S\;{\in}\;C^{n{\times}n}$ be nontrivial unitary involutions, i.e., $R^*\;=\;R\;=\;R^{-1}\;{\neq}\;I_m$ and $S^*\;=\;S\;=\;S^{-1}\;{\neq}\;I_m$. We say that $G\;{\in}\;C^{m{\times}n}$ is a generalized reflexive matrix if RGS = G. The set of all m ${\times}$ n generalized reflexive matrices is denoted by $GRC^{m{\times}n}$. In this paper, an efficient method for the least squares solution $X\;{\in}\;GRC^{m{\times}n}$ of the matrix equation AXB = D with arbitrary coefficient matrices $A\;{\in}\;C^{p{\times}m}$, $B\;{\in}\;C^{n{\times}q}$and the right-hand side $D\;{\in}\;C^{p{\times}q}$ is developed based on the canonical correlation decomposition(CCD) and, an explicit formula for the general solution is presented.

  • In 2009, Zheng and Miao [B. Zheng and S.-X. Miao, Two new modified Gauss-Seidel methods for linear system with M-matrices, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 233 (2009), 922-930] considered the modified Gauss-Seidel method for solving M-matrix linear system with the preconditioner $P_{max}$. In this paper, we consider the modified Gauss-Seidel method for solving the linear system with the generalized preconditioner $P_{max}({\alpha})$, and study its convergent properties when the coefficient matrix is an H-matrix. Numerical experiments are performed with different examples, and the numerical results verify our theoretical analysis.

  • A composite mechanics for discontinuous fiber reinforced polymer matrix composites(PMC) is analysed in order to predict fiber axial stresses. In continuum approach. frictional slip which usually takes place between fibers and polymers is accounted to derive PMC equations. The interfacial friction stress is treated by the product of the coefficient of friction and the compressive stress norma1 to the fiber/matrix interface. The residual stress and the Poisson's contraction implemented by the rule of mixture(ROM) are considered for the compressive stress normal to the fiber/matrix interface. In addition. the effects of fiber aspect ratio and fiber volume fraction on fiber axial stresses are evaluated using the derived equations. Results are illustrated numerically using the present equations with reasonable materials data. It is found that the fiber axial stress in the center region shows no great discrepancy for different fiber aspect ratios and fiber volume fractions while some discrepancies are shown in the fiber end region.

  • An analytical solution for the shape functions of a beam segment supported on a generalized two-parameter elastic foundation is derived. The solution is general, and is not restricted to a particular range of magnitudes of the foundation parameters. The exact shape functions can be utilized to derive exact analytic expressions for the coefficients of the element stiffness matrix, work equivalent nodal forces for arbitrary transverse loads and coefficients of the consistent mass and geometrical stiffness matrices. As illustration, each distinct coefficient of the element stiffness matrix is compared with its conventional counterpart for a beam segment supported by no foundation at all for the entire range of foundation parameters.

  • Based on Maxwell-Eucken(ME) model, which is one of structural models, a new model for predicting the effective thermal conductivity of variably saturated porous materials is proposed. The new model is a linear combination of three ME models having matrix, water, and air as a continuous phase. The coefficient of the corresponding linear equation is defined by a parameter referred to as 'the continuity coefficient', which provides a relative degree of continuity of each phase. The continuity coefficient of matrix is assumed to be linearly proportional to porosity. The model can be linear or nonlinear depending on how the continuity coefficients of water and air vary with water saturation. The feasibility of the proposed model was examined by both numerical and experimental results. Both linear and nonlinear models showed a high accuracy of prediction with $R^2$ values of 0.86-0.98 and 0.88-0.99, respectively. The numerical and experimental results also showed that the continuity coefficient of matrix was linearly proportional to porosity. Therefore, the proposed prediction model can be effectively used to estimate effective thermal conductivity of unsaturated porous materials by measuring porosity, water content and mineralogical compositions of matrix.

  • Creep rate the elevated temperature is known to be controller by the softening process of microstructure especially in the solid solution alloys such as 125 Cr rotor steel. The change of structure is a decreasing process of the free energy of the state including stress, diffusivity of the material, and tmeperature. This study shows that diffusion coefficient, D of 12% Cr rotor steel at 953K with 74.8 MPa is 1.084~3.140*$10^{15}mm^2sec^1$ compared to $1.658*10^{24}mm^2sec^1$at 963K without stress. During creep, the growth of martensite laths accelerates the diffusion coefficient under stress due to incoherency of interface between carbides and matrix.

  • We introduced an approach of modeling of a sound absorbing medium that had different absorbing coefficient according to frequency. To obtain the time domain result of the frequency characteristics of a sound absorbing medium, transmission line matrix modeling was used. To input sound absorbing effect in TLM modeling, we added a FIR filter at a node instead of absorbing component using resistance component. There were simulated the characteristics of time-shift, low pass filter, high pass filter using the FIR filter with 7-tap coefficients, then compared with theoretical results. From various simulation results, we could find that added FIR filter coefficient in TLM modeling was an useful way to model a sound absorbing medium.

  • The inertia friction properties of C/C composites manufactured by the processes of pressure and at-mospheric carbonizaton with a commerciallized and two kinds of modified coal-tar pitch as a matrix pre-cursor were investigated. The modifications of a pitch such as the introduction of mesophase and the ad-dition of sulphur into a raw pitch were not effective for a impregnation efficiency conducted in a vacuum and at the same time in a pressure of 5kg/cm2 due to the increase of the pitch viscosity. There was not a difference in the densification increment between the pitch modifications however it was revealed that a pressure carbonization was more advantageous than an atmospheric in the densification and the formation of anisotropic carbon matrix. The friction and wear propertis of C/C having higher degree of matrix cry-stallization higher density and hardness of friction surface showed superiority. As the braking energy was increased the friction coefficients were decreased and reached almost same level at the high kinetic energy of 99.6kJ. The wear trends at 99.6kJ were different from the behaviors of friction ceofficient under the same energy in which an oxidation wear is being considered along with a mechnical wear although the wear rates were almost similar to the friction coefficient at the low energy.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the lubricated wear properties of Saffil/Al, Saffil/$Al_2O_3/Al$ and Saffil/SiC/Al hybrid metal matrix composites fabricated by squeeze casting method. Wear tests were done on a pin-on-disk friction & wear tester with long sliding distance. The wear properties of the three composites were evaluated in many respects. The effects of Saffil, $Al_2O_3$ particles and SiC particles on the wear behavior of the composites under lubricated conditions were elucidated. Wear mechanisms were analyzed by observing the worn surfaces of the composites. The variation of coefficient of friction (COF) during the wear process was recorded by using a computer. Comparing with the dry sliding condition, all three composites showed excellent wear resistance when lubricated by liquid paraffin. Under intermediate load, Saffil/Al showed best wear resistance among them, and its COF value is the smallest. The dominant wear mechanism of the composites was microploughing, but microcracking also occurred for them to different extent.

  • In order to analyze the nonlinear phenomena of the bifurcation and chaos caused by the switching of nonlinear switching devices in inductively coupled power transfer (ICPT) systems, a Jacobian matrix model, based on discrete mapping numerical modeling, is established to judge the system stability of the periodic closed orbit and to study the nonlinear behavior of Hopf bifurcation in a system under full resonance. The general flow of the parameter design, based on the stability principle for ICPT systems, is proposed to avoid the chaos and bifurcation phenomena caused by unreasonable parameter selection. Firstly, based on the state equation of SS-type compensation, a three-dimensional bifurcation diagram with the coupling coefficient as the bifurcation parameter is established with a numerical simulation to observe the nonlinear phenomena in the system. Then Filippov's method based on a Jacobian matrix model is adopted to deduce the boundary of stable operation and to judge the type of the bifurcation in the system. Then the general flow of the parameter design based on the stability principle for ICPT systems is proposed through the above analysis to realize stable operation under the conditions of weak coupling. Finally, an experimental platform is built to confirm the correctness of the numerical simulation and modeling.
