The electrochemical performance and Cr poisoning behavior of $La_{1-x}Ba_xCo_{0.9}Fe_{0.1}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (LBCF, x = 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) and $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (LSCF) cathodes were investigated for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). The polarization resistance of the LBCF/GDC/LBCF symmetrical cell was found to decrease with increasing Ba content (x value). This phenomenon might be associated with the high oxygen vacancy concentration in the LBCF sample, with x = 0.5. In addition, there was no chromium poisoning in the LBCF cathode. On the other hand, the polarization resistance of the LSCF cathode was found to significantly increase after exposure to gaseous chromium species; it appears that this result stemmed from the formation of $SrCrO_4$ phase. Therefore, it can be expected that LBCF can be a durable potential cathode material for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFC).
Nanometer-sized bismuth oxide with a diameter of about 80 nm was used as a new electron reflection material in a 29" Real Flat CPT. This bismuth oxide was well dispersed over pH8 in slurry. Spray coating was performed clearly and uniformly and was ensured that there was no clogging of shadow mask hole. Coating thickness was expressed to the brightness of chromaticity for the sprayed layer and was also well controlled during the spraying process. Doming was improved by about 10% in spite of the similar coating weight in comparison with the average 3.5 ${\mu}m$ of the conventional bismuth oxide.
The nano-sized Co particles were successfully synthesized by chemical vapor condensation (CVC) process using the precursor of cobalt carbonyl ($Co_2(CO)_8$). The influence of carrier gases on the microstructure and magnetic properties of nanoparticles was investigated by means of XRD, TEM, XPS and VSM. The Co nano-particles with different phases and shapes were synthesized with a change of carrier gas : long string morphologies with coexistence of fcc and hcp structure in Ar carrier gas condition; finer Co core in a mass of cobalt oxide with only fcc structure in He; rod type cobalt oxide phase in Ar+6vol%$O_2$. The saturation magnetization and coercivity was lower in Co nanoparticles synthesized in He carrier gas, due to their finer size.
The iron oxides nanoparticles and iron oxide with other compounds are of importance in fields including biomedicine, clinical and bio-sensing applications, corrosion resistance, and magnetic properties of materials, catalyst, and geochemical processes etc. In this work we describe the preparation and investigation of the properties of coated magnetic nanoparticles consisting of the iron oxide core and organic modification of the residue. These fine iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared in air environment by the co-precipitation method using of $Fe^{2+}$: $Fe^{3+}$ where chemical precipitation was achieved by adding ammonia aqueous solution with vigorous stirring. During the synthesis of nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution, the techniques of separation and powdering of nanoparticles into rather monodisperse fractions are observed. This is done using controlled precipitation of particles from surfactant stabilized solutions in the form organic components. It is desirable to maintain the particle size within pH range, temperature, solution ratio wherein the particle growth is held at a minimum. The iron oxide nanoparticles can be well dispersed in an aqueous solution were prepared by the mentioned co-precipitation method. Besides the iron oxide nanowires were prepared by using similar method. These iron oxide nanoparticles and nanowires have controlled average size and the obtained products were investigated by X-ray diffraction, FESEM and other methods.

Iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared by the thermal decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl (Fe(CO)$_5$) Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) was used as surface-modifying agent to control the size of the iron oxide nanoparticles. The crystalline structure of PVP coated iron oxide nanoparticles was determined by XRD. The size of PVP coated iron oxide nanoparticles was determined by TEM and ELS. The particle sizes of PVP coated iron oxide nanoparticles were controlled by adjusting the molar ratio of PVP/Fe (CO)$_5$, solvent and molecular weight of PVP Particle sizes increased with increasing PVP content. Spherical $50\~100$ nm sized iron oxide nanoclusters were produced when dimethylformamide was used as a solvent. And well-defined 10 nm iron oxide nanoparticles were produced in Carbitol. The prepared PVP coated iron oxide nanoparticles exhibited a well-dispersed property in water. The results obtained in this study confirmed the feasibility of the PVP-coated iron oxide nanoparticles as a biomaterial for MRI contrast agent.
In the present study, in order to investigate the anti-proliferative phenomenon of PLME, the effects of mycelial extract of Phellinus linteus (PLME) on the growth of human lung carcinoma cell line A549 was examined. We studied on the effects of PLME on the release of nitric oxide (NO) in mouse macrophage Raw 264.7 cells. Treatment of PLME to A549 cells resulted in the growth inhibition, morphological change and induction of apoptotic cell death in a dose-dependent manner as measured by MTT assay. We found that PLME stimulated a dose-dependent increase in NO production. These findings suggest that PLME enhances the anti-tumoral activity of macrophage and may be a potential therapeutic agent for the control of human lung carcinoma cells.
We confirmed that the improvement in properties of magnetic tunnel junctions prepared by radical oxidation after thermal treatment was mostly resulted from the redistribution of oxygen at the $AIOx/Co_{90}Fe_{10}$ interface. The as-deposited Al oxide barrier was oxygen-deficient but most of it re-oxidized into $Al_2O_3$, the thermodynamically stable stoichiometric phase, through thermal treatment. As a result, the effective barrier height was increased from 1.52 eV to 2.27 eV. On the other hand, the effective barrier width was decreased from 8.2 ${\AA}$ to 7.5 ${\AA}$. X-ray absorption spectra of Fe and Co clearly showed that the oxygen in the CoFe layer diffused back into the Al barrier and thereby enriched the barrier to close to a stoichiometirc $Al_2O_3$ phase. The oxygen bonded with Co and Fe diffused back by 6.8 ${\AA}$ and 4.5 ${\AA}$ after thermal treatment, respectively. Our results confirm that controlling the chemical structures of the interface is important to improve the properties of magnetic tunnel junctions.
In the present study, the focus is on the synthesis of titanium carbide/cobalt composite powder by the spray thermal conversion process using metallic salt solution as the raw materials. Two types of oxide powders of Ti-Co-O system were prepared by the spray drying of two types of metallic salt solutions : titanium chloride-cobalt nitrate and $TiO_2$ powder-cobalt nitrate solutions. These oxide powders were mixed with carbon black, and then these mixtures were carbothermal reduced under a flowing argon atmosphere. The changes in the phase structure and thermal gravity of the mixtures during carbothermal reduction were analysed using XRD and TG-DTA. In the case of using the titanium chloride-cobalt nitrate solution, it could not be obtained TiC/Co composite powder due to contamination of the impurities during the spray drying of the solution. However, in tile case of using the $TiO_2$ powder-cobalt nitrate scullion, TiC-15 wt. %Co composite powder could be synthesized by the spray thermal conversion process. The synthesized TiC-15 wt. %Co composite powder at 120$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours has average particle size of 150 nm.
A plastic substrate for flexible display is developed. The gas barrier property in the substrate is improved through depositing metal and metal oxide multi layer on plastic film by PVD process. The metal/metal-oxide multiplayer on plastic film shows excellent gas barrier property and optical property.
