  • We demonstrate that the performance of amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFT) can be optimized by controlling the interfaces between IGZO and sandwiching insulators and by proper deposition of IGZO layer. Specifically, contact and channel resistances are decreased by reducing IGZO bulk resistance and optimizing dry-etch process, respectively. Field-effect mobility ($\mu_{FE}$) and subthreshold gate swing (S) are further enhanced by fine-tuning IGZO deposition condition.

  • Perovskite-type oxide catalysts in the $\textrm{LaMnO}_3$ family were prepared by both freeze drying and precipitation technique, and their catalytic activities with respect to the oxidation of CO with $O_2$ were measured in the composite gases. Freeze drying is a new technique for the prevention of migration of the solutes during drying. Therefore, the corrugated cordierite monolith fabricated with the Ø 1mm stainless steel bar was directly impregnated with nitrate solutions containing the appropriate cations, freeze dried and calcined. Precipitation was done by using $\textrm{(NH_4)}_2\textrm{CO}_3$ but the precipitated catalysts gave lower catalytic than the freeze dried samples due to, in part, relatively high calcining temperature. In this study, freeze dried composition had high catalytic activity, and their apparent activation energy for oxidation of CO was calculated by the rate plots using the data where the percent conversion of CO was less than 20%.

  • Negative Bias Temperature Instability (NBTI) in Eximer Laser Annealing (ELA) based Low Temperature polysilicon (LTPS) Thin-Film Transistors (TFT) was investigated. Even though NBTI is generally appeared in devices with thin gate oxide, the TFT with gate oxide thickness of 120 nm, relatively thick, also showed NBTI effect and dynamic NBTI effect is dependent on operational frequency.

  • Hollow copper oxide/multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CuO/MWCNT) composites were fabricated via an optimized infiltration-reduction-oxidation method, which is more facile and easy to control. The crystalline structure and morphology were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The as-prepared CuO/MWCNT composites deliver an initial capacity of 612.3 mAh·g-1 and with 80% capacity retention (488.2 mAh·g-1) after 100 cycles at a current rate of 0.2 A·g-1. The enhanced electrochemical performance is ascribed to the better electrical conductivity of MWCNT, the hollow structure of CuO particles, and the flexible structure of the CuO/MWCNT composites.

  • We describe the preparation of a cobalt oxide in which the solid-pore architecture of the material is controllably varied. All $CoO_2$ gels derived from $CoCl_2$-based sol-gel synthesis, but exhibit markedly different final pore structures based on how the pore fluid is removed from forces that result from extraction are either low or nonexistent. These nanoscale mesoporous materials have higher $CoO_2$ crystallites. Controlling both the pore and solid architecture on the nanoscale offers a strategy for the design of new supercapacitor and charge-storage materials.

  • We have developed the synthesis method to reduce the surface oxide layer in Cu nanoparticle, which is based on controlling the molecular weight of capping polymer. In addition, we demonstrated how the variation of oxide layer thickness influences the resistivity of conductive Cu film.

  • In this study, an NF3 plasma etching reaction with a cobalt oxide (Co3O4) films grown on the surface of inorganic compounds using granite was investigated. Experimental results showed that the etching rate can be up to 1.604 mm/min at 380 ℃ under 150 W of RF power. EDS and XPS analysis showed that main reaction product is CoF2, which is generated by fluorination in NF3 plasma. The etching rate of cobalt oxide films grown on inorganic compounds in this study was affected by surface roughness and etch selectivity. This study demonstrates that the plasma surface decontamination can effectively and efficiently remove contaminated nuclides such as cobalt attached to aggregate in concrete generated when decommissioning of nuclear power plants.

  • An electrode for supercapacitor using 3-dimensional porous nickel foam as a current collector and cobalt oxide as an active material was prepared and characterized in terms of morphology observation, crystalline property analysis, and the investigation of electrochemical property. The electrode surface showed that the cobalt oxide was homogeneously coated as the crystalline phase of $Co_3O_4$. Cyclic voltammetry for the $Co_3O_4$/nickel foam electrode exhibited higher specific capacitance values (445 F/g at 10 mV/s and 350 F/g at 200 mV/s) and excellent capacitance retention ratio (99% after $10^4$ cycles). It was proved that the nickel foam substrate played the roles in reducing the interfacial resistance with cobalt oxide and in improving the electrode density by embedding greater amount of cobalt oxide within it.

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the fitting accuracy of single crowns made from a novel presintered Co-Cr alloy prepared with a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technique, as compared with crowns manufactured by other digital and the conventional casting technique. Additionally, the influence of oxide layer on the fitting accuracy of specimens was tested. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 40 test specimens made from Co-Cr alloy were investigated according to the fitting accuracy using a replica technique. Four different methods processing different materials were used for the manufacture of the crown copings (milling of presintered (Ceramill Sintron-group_cer_sin) or rigid alloy (Tizian NEM-group_ti_nem), selective laser melting (Ceramill NPL-group_cer_npl), and casting (Girobond NB-group_gir_nb)). The specimens were adapted to a resin model and the outer surfaces were airborne-particle abraded with aluminum oxide. After the veneering process, the fitting accuracy (absolute marginal discrepancy and internal gap) was evaluated by the replica technique in 2 steps, before removing the oxide layer from the intaglio surface of the crowns, and after removing the layer with aluminum oxide airborne-particle abrasion. Statistical analysis was performed by multifactorial analysis of variance (ANOVA) (α=.05). RESULTS. Mean absolute marginal discrepancy ranged between 20 ㎛ (group_cer_npl for specimens of Ceramill NPL) and 43 ㎛ (group_cer_sin for crowns of Ceramill Sintron) with the oxide layer and between 19 ㎛ and 28 ㎛ without the oxide layer. The internal gap varied between 33 ㎛ (group_ti_nem for test samples of Tizian NEM) and 75 ㎛ (group_gir_nb for the base material Girobond NB) with the oxide layer and between 30 ㎛ and 76 ㎛ without the oxide layer. The absolute marginal discrepancy and the internal gap were significantly influenced by the fabrication method used (P<.05). CONCLUSION. Different manufacturing techniques had a significant influence on the fitting accuracy of single crowns made from Co-Cr alloys. However, all tested crowns showed a clinically acceptable absolute marginal discrepancy and internal gap with and without oxide layer and could be recommended under clinical considerations. Especially, the new system Ceramill Sintron showed acceptable values of fitting accuracy so it can be suggested in routine clinical work.
