Clutch-by-Wire 시스템 개발 연구 (A Development of Clutch-by-Wire System for Automotive)

  • This study presents a clutch-by-wire system for automotive which can be utilized on a vehicle with a manual transmission real time while the vehicle is in motion. The system consists of air valve, spring, oil pressure control valve, oil pressure cylinder, switch, etc. In this study, commercial vehicle was studied on improvement of no clutch pedal system. Therefore the results obtained effective driveability, gear shiftability, convenience for driver.

  • A manufacturing process for a clutch gear which demands high strength and wear resistance, was developed by means of computer simulation. A preform was made by hot forging process and subsequent cold sizing process is applied to complete precise tooth part. Processes to obtain high dimensional accuracy and superior mechanical properties are analyzed and optimal heat treatment cycle to improve cold forgeability is introduced. Prototype was produced and the dimensional accuracy of the prototype was inspected to verify proposed process.

  • The roll die forming (RDF) process is a new manufacturing technique for producing gear parts such as clutch drum and clutch hub in automotive transmission. In the RDF process, the material is deformed by a roll installed on a die set. Excellent productivity, low forming load and improved dimensional accuracy have quantitatively been shown to be the benefits of the RDF. In this study, the RDF process is applied to manufacture a clutch hub with a gear shaped part. A finite element (FE) analysis was performed in order to investigate the material strain field and dimension of the final product. Based on the result of the FE analysis, a RDF experiment was performed and the dimensional accuracy of the final product was validated. This work demonstrates that RDF is a process capable of producing a sound clutch hub.

  • In the automatic transmission using planetary gear there exists nonlinearities due to the finite difference between gear ratios, which yield torque hole during shift and influence on the ride quality and life of clutch. Based on the reaction carrier and converter turbine speed sliding functions are defined. Nonlinear closed-loop control laws are derived using them. Computer simulation shows that the closed loop design is better than the open loop design and semi-closed loop design.

  • This paper describes an automatic design system for the parts that compose the power transmission. Power transmission is composed of shaft, gear, clutch, brake and housing. To design power transmission, there are many recurrent calculations and drawings needed with conventional design process. In this paper, we propose three dimensional automatic design system that reduce recurrent calculations and drawings. Developed system consists of two modules; 1) Design expert system module to assist determining design parameters of clutch, brake and gear. 2) Parametric modeling module to make three dimensional solid model automatically. The proposed system has been tested in the fields and found to be a useful system.

  • The automated mechanical transmission(AMT) is composed of electronic control management(ECM) and automatic shift gear(ASG). The AMT has advantages which are high efficiency of manual transmissions(MT) and offer operation convenience similar to automatic transmissions(AT). However, it has defects that are the torque gap during gear shift transients and shift time is long. To reduce such defects, it is necessary practically to evaluate error and characteristics as developing simulation model before the control algorithm is applied. In this paper, models are composed of vehicle model and AMT shift control model. Particularly AMT shift control model consists of main clutch management model (MCM) and shift control management model(SCM). The developed models were verified by comparing the simulated and experimental results under the same operational conditions. It can also be used to evaluate shift algorithm.

  • Modern transmission technologies such as automated manual transmission(AMT) and dual clutch transmission(DCT) are interested to all manufactures due to their fuel efficiency and driver's convenience, especially in a hybrid system. AMT has advantages in that they have a high efficiency of manual transmissions(MT) and offer operation convenience similar to automatic transmissions(AT), but it has some disadvantages in that they have torque gap during gear shift and shift time. To reduce disadvantages, it is necessary to evaluate errors and characteristics as a developing simulation model before experimental verification. The purpose of this study is to develop virtual components and simulate the transient response of AMT. A dynamic AMT model and a control logic for an integrated vehicle model have been developed using Matlab/Simulink as a simulation platform. In this paper, the clutch model to describe the stick-slip transition mode and the transmission model to describe the neutral gear shifting is introduced and compared with each other.

  • In this research, a hot and cold combined forging process for manufacturing net-shape one-way clutch bearing outer race of an automobile automatic transmission unit is developed. The process is composed of hot forging for manufacturing an optimized gear-like perform and precision cold forging for sizing the perform into final net-shape product. Finite element simulation techniques are applied to find the optimized process designs including blank and die shapes. The predictions and experiments are compared, revealing that they are in good agreement with each other. The dimensional test showed that the important dimensional requirements on gear tooth-like shape of the forged product were fulfilled.

상용차용 전동식 클러치의 동적특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Dynamic Characteristics of a Electric Motor Clutch for Commercial Vehicles)

  • To improve the performance of clutch actuator of clutch-by-wire system for commercial vehicles, it is necessary to understand the driving characteristics of the system. To explain and predict the effects of driving characteristics on clutch characteristics, AMESim software is used. The simulation model of clutch-by-wire system is developed in the AMESim environments under the geometrical dimensions and driving mechanisms of the clutch-by-wire system, such as the rotation speed of the DC motor, the gear ratio of the reducer, the design parameters of the release fork, the coefficient of the clutch diaphragm spring, and so on. The results show that the theoretical analysis of the clutch-by-wire system for commercial vehicles using the AMESim software find out the driving characteristics of the clutch actuator, and predict the performance characteristics of the clutch-by-wire system.

차량모델을 고려한 햅틱 큐 기어변속보조 시스템의 성능평가 (Performance Evaluation of Driver Supportive System with Haptic Cue Gear-shifting Function Considering Vehicle Model)

  • This paper proposes a driver supportive device with haptic cue function which can transmit optimal gear shifting timing to a driver without requiring the driver's visual attention. Its performance is evaluated under vehicle model considering automotive engine, transmission and vehicle body. In order to achieve this goal, a torque feedback device is devised and manufactured by adopting the MR (magnetorheological) fluid and clutch mechanism. The manufactured MR clutch is then integrated with the accelerator pedal to construct the proposed haptic cue device. A virtual vehicle emulating a four-cylinder four-stroke engine, manual transmission system of a passenger vehicle and vehicle body is constructed and communicated with the manufactured haptic cue device. Control performances including torque tracking and fuel efficiency are experimentally evaluated via a simple feed-forward control algorithm.
