  • Zero-Voltage-Switching (ZVS) operation for a Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) system can be achieved by designing a ZVS controller. However, the performance of the controller in some industrial applications needs to be designed tightly. This paper introduces a ZVS controller design method for WPT systems. The parameters of the controller are designed according to the desired performance based on the closed loop dominant pole placement method. To describe the dynamic characteristics of the system ZVS angle, a nonlinear dynamic model is deduced and linearized using the small signal linearization method. By analyzing the zero-pole distribution, a low-order equivalent model that facilitates the controller design is obtained. The parameters of the controller are designed by calculating the time constant of the closed-loop dominant poles. A prototype of a WPT system with the designed controller and a five-stage multistage series variable capacitor (MSVC) is built and tested to verify the performance of the controller. The recorded response curves and waveforms show that the designed controller can maintain the ZVS angle at the reference angle with satisfactory control performance.

  • CL1(closed loop mode 1) is one of the closed loop transmit diversity schemes defined by 3GPP WCDMA and adjusts the relative phases of the transmitted signals at the two transmit antennas, thereby maximizing the power of the received signal at the user equipment. A key component of this scheme is to encode the phase difference between two received signals arrived at the user equipment via two different transmit antennas and to send it back to the base station. This paper proposes a new phase difference representation based on the adaptive delta modulation and compares its performance with the corresponding one of CL1. Computer simulations show that, in a slowly fading environment, the proposed scheme produces more realistic representation of the phase difference than the on of the CL1, resulting in a lower BER.

  • For a multi-input, multi-output system, it is widely known that feedback control gain presents extra freedom pole placement problem. An eigenstructure assignment utilizes this freedom for assignment of all or some elements of the closed-loop eigenvectors. In this paper, a nonlinear optimization technique is adopted to obtain a small gain controller that assigns closed-loop eigenvalues and elements of eigenvectors simultaneously. To illustrate the approach, a numerical example of the Airplane mode decoupling using an advanced fighter is shown.

  • To control a continuous processing line, it is necessary to take the entire system into account. In this paper observers to estimate the line tension are discussed. Considering a tension as a external disturbance, a closed loop observers are designed. It becomes clear that the proposed tension control scheme has high accuracy performance and simplicity.

  • A new controller design algorithm based on the Hessenberg form for linear control systems has een proposed. The controller is composed of the dynamic compensator and the state feedback (dynamic state feedback). The algorithm gives a simple way to assign the eigenstructure (eigenvalues and eigenvectors) of the closed loop system and it also provides a method to assign the frequency shapes near the corner frequencies of the closed loop transfer function matrix. Because of this property, the algorithm is called the independent frequency shape control (IFSC) method.

  • A small-signal low-frequency disturbance of the input line affects the regulated-output voltage of the series resonant converter. To mitigate the detrimental effect, the output feedback PI-controller is employed. Small-signal linear models are represented to characterize the closed loop series resonant converter system. Design equations for the PI-controller which satisfy stability and percent ripple conditions are derived from the closed-loop linear model. Experimental results are presented which show excellent correlation with theory.

  • The resulting stabilizing controller in this paper consists of the disturbance estimator and the gain scheduled controller. The disturbance estimator tracks the unknown external disturbance and its derivative information in the closed-loop control system using fuzzy logic based adaptation law. Moreover, the gains of the stabilizing controller are appropriately scheduled according to the estimated values. Furthermore, since the estimation law is combined with the stabilizing controller in the closed control loop, it asymptotically minimizes the estimation error. In order to conrm the usefulness of the proposed control scheme, it is applied to the magnetic suspension systems.

  • This paper presents a design and analysis of electromechanical sigma-delta modulator for MEMS gyroscope, which enables us to control the proof mass and to obtain an exact digital output without additional A/D conversion. The system structure and the circuit realization of the sigma-delta modulation are simpler than those of the analog sensing and feedback circuit. Based on the electrical sigma-delta modulator theory, a compensator is designed to improve the closed loop resolution of the sensor. With the designed compensator, we could obtain enhanced closed-loop performances of the gyroscope such as larger bandwidth, lower noise, and digital output comparing with the results of analog open-loop system.

  • The thermal characteristics of the helium circulation by a cryocooler are presented. This study is motivated mainly by our recent development of a closed-loop cooling system for Cyclotron K120 superconducting magnets without any replenishment of the cryogen. A channel is attached on the outer surface of the magnet form and the liquid helium passes through inside of the channel in order to cool the super conducting coils indirectly. A two-stage cryocooler as a heat sink is located at the top to recondense helium coming from the superconducting magnet form. The heat transfer in the natural circulation loop is discussed and the main dimensions of cooling system are determined.

  • The domestic power distribution system is operating in an open loop mode; however, it already has a loop structure. Power distribution systems must be changed for bi-directions power supply for smart networks due to a changing of paradigm in electric power industry. The simplest bi-directions distribution networks can make it closing of normally open switch. However, bi-directions power supply is very difficulty to be operated and there are many parts which it must study. This paper presented various models that are able to change a radial system for loop structures. Further, we compared the reliability index for each model by evaluating the amount of improvement reliability required in radial power distribution system. In addition, we calculated CIC(Customer Interruption Cost) for each model by comparing and analyzing.
