In Korea, 2,320 tonnes of acetanilide were mostly wed as intermediates for synthesis in phar-maceuticals or additives in synthesizing hydrogen peroxide, varnishes, polymers and rubber. Only small amount of 120 kg were wed as a stabilizer for hydrogen peroxide solution for hair colouring agents in 1998. Readily available environmental or human exposure data do not exist in Korea at the present time. However, potential human exposures from drinking water, food, ambient water and in work places are expected to be negligible because this chemical is produced in the closed system in only one company in Korea and the processing factory is equipped with local ventilation and air filtering system. Acetanilide could be distributed mainly to water based on EQC model. This substance is readily biodegradable and its bioaccumulation is low. Acute toxicity of acetanilide is low since the L $D_{50}$ of oral exposure in rats is 1,959 mg/kg bw. The chemical is not irritating to skin, but slightly irritating to the eyes of rabbits. horn repeated dose toxicity, the adverse effects in rats were red pulp hyperplasia of spleen, bone marrow hyperplasia of femur and decreased hemoglobin, hematocrit and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration. The LOAEL for repeated dose toxicity in rats was 22 mg/kg/day for both sexes. Acetanilide is not considered to be genotoxic. In a reproductive/developmental toxicity study, no treatment-related changes in precoital time and rate of copulation, impregnation, pregnancy were shown in all treated groups. The NOAELs for reproduction and developmental toxicity (off-spring toxicity) are considered to be 200 mg/kg bw/day and 67 mg/kg bw/day, respectively. Ecotoxicity data has been generated in a limited number of aquatic species of algae (72 hr- $E_{b}$$C_{50}$; 13.5 mg/l), daphnid (48hr-E $C_{50}$ > 100 mg/l) and fish (Oryzias latipes, 96hr-L $C_{50}$; 100 mg/l). Form the acute toxicity values, the predicted no effect concentration (PNEC) of 0.135 mg/1 was derived win an assessment factor of 100. On the basis of these data, acetanilide was suggested as currently of low priority for further post-SIDS work in OECD.in OECD.D.

SONY corporation preoccupies $80\%$ of a market of the CCD used in a CCTV system. The CCD of SONY have high duality which can not follow the progress of capability. But there are some problems which differ the clock frequency used in CCD from the frequency used in common video encoder. To get the result by using common video encoder, the system needs a scaler that could adjust image size and PLL that synchronizes CCD's with encoder's clock So, this paper proposes the video encoder that is activated at equal clock used in CCD without scaler and PLL. The encoder converts ITU-R BT.601 4:2:2 or ITU-R BT.656 inputs from various video sources into NTSC or PAL signals in CVBS. Due to variable clock, property of filters used in the encoder is automatically changed by clock and filters adopt multiplier-free structures to reduce hardware complexity. The hardware bit width of programmable digital filters for luminance and chrominance signals, along with other operating blocks, are carefully determined to produce hish-quality digital video signals of ${\pm}1$ LSB error or less. The proposed encoder is experimentally demonstrated by using the Altera Stratix EP1S80B953C6ES device.
Many Quaternary faults are recognized as thin gouge and narrow cataclastic zone juxtaposing the Bulguksa granite and Quaternary deposit bed in the eastern block of the Using Fault, Korea: Gaegok 1, Caegok 2, Singye, Madong Wonwonsa and Jinhyeon faults. This study was performed to calculate chemical change, volume change, silica loss and fluid-rock ratio taken place in gouge zones of these Quaternary faults using XRF, XRD, EPMA. The chemical compositions of fault rocks reveal that the fault gouges are depleted in $SiO_2,\;Na_2\;O,and\;K_2O$ and enriched in $Al_2O_3,\;Fe_2O_3,\;P_2O_5,\;MgO,\;MnO,\;CaO,\;and\;LOI(H_2O+CO_2)$ relative to protoliths. The fact that there is enrichment of relatively immobile elements and depletion of the more soluble elements in the fault gouges relative to protoliths can be explained by fluid-assisted volume loss of $56\%$ for Caegok 1 fault, $22\%$ for Caegok 2 fault,$34\%$, for Singye fault, $8\%$ for Madong fault, $2\%$ for the Wonwonsa fault and $53\%$ for the linhyeon fault. Madong fault and Wonwonsa fault where ratios of the volume change, silica loss and fluid-rock are low might have acted as a closed system for fluid activity, whereas Caegok 1 fault and Jinhyeon fault with high ratios in those factors be an open system. The volumetric fluid-rock ratios range $10^2\sim10^4$ for all faults, being highest in Caegok 1 fault and Jinhyeon fault whose fluid activity was most significant.
Nowadays, the field hydraulic test is still an only method to evaluate groundwater characteristics in subsurface. The results of hydraulic test are very important for the concept model of fracture hydrogeology as well as the geometric pattern of fractures. The hydraulic tests performed in Korea are generally analysed under such assumption as steady radial flow in homogeneous aquifer or along simple geometry of fractures. Also the transmissivity measured in a fixed interval length is equivalent to a sum of individual fracture transmissivities in test legth. The boundary effects of weH hydraulics and the geometry of flow paths are hardly obtained from the test results analysed by a steady flow method. To circumvent this problem, the flow dimensional analysis was attempted from the results of constant pressure injection test carried out in a fractured granite area. A comparison of the hydraulic conductivity values from the transient and steady analysis shows that the latter is about a factor of 2~3 higher than the former. However, it was possible to analyse a flow dimension of each test interval from flow rate variation with time. The upper part of the bedrock(<10m deep) indicates an open boundary and the flow dimension shows nearly steady states, while the lower part of the bedrock(>25m deep) is characterized as sublinear flow dimension with a dosed boundary. In one of the test sections(15m deep), the flow dimension was changed from linear flow to spherical flow. From the experience of this study, one of the immediate problems to be solved is to enhance the field testing equipments, i.e., an accurate flowmeter with autorecording and a pressure detecting device to be able to install in the test section.
The earth pressure acting on underground structure was measured by application of the instrumentation system in the subway construction site constructed by the method of cut-and-cover tunnel. The measured earth pressure was compared with the earth pressure obtained from the existed theoretical equation, and the actual earth pressure diagram acting on the underground structure was investigated. As a result of investigation, the vertical earth pressure is mainly affected by the embankment height, and the lateral earth pressure is significantly affected by whether the existence of earth retaining structures or not. The measured vertical earth pressure is very similar to the theoretical earth pressure proposed by Bierbaumer. The measured lateral earth pressure is closed to the active earth pressure proposed by Rankine rather than the earth pressure at rest. The coefficient of earth pressure in soil deposit layer is about 0.35, and the coefficient in soft rock deposit layer is about 0.21. For design and construction the underground structures, therefore, it is reasonable estimation that the lateral earth pressure acting on structures installed in soil deposit layers is an average value between active earth pressure and earth pressure at rest. In rock deposit layers, the lateral earth pressure acting on structure is an active earth pressure only.

Despite the greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide have steadily increased in atmosphere, the overall trend of the global average surface air temperature has stalled during the last decade (2002-present). This phenomenon is often called hiatus or warming pause, which is challenging the prevailing view that anthropogenic forcing causes warming environment. Our study characterized the hiatus by analyzing the HadGEM2-AO (95 yrs) simulation data based on RCP8.5 scenario. The PC2 time series from the EOF of the zonal mean vertical ocean temperature has been defined as the index that represents the warming pause. The relationship between the hiatus, ENSO and the changes in climate system are identified by utilizing the newly defined PC2. Since the La Nina index (defined as the negative of NINO3 index) leads PC2 by about 11 months, it may be possible that the La Nina causes the warming to be interrupted. We also show that the cooling of the climate system closed tied to the heat penetration into the deep ocean, indicating the weakening the warming rate is due to the oceanic heat uptake. Finally, the global warming hiatus is characterized by the anomalous warming in Arctic region as well as the intensification of the trade wind in the equatorial Pacific.
Sesame oil was sometimes replaced by mixed oil due to high price in Korean market. To find out authentic sesame oil, electronic nose (E-nose) based on mass spectrometer system was used. Sesame oil was blended with perilla oil at the ratio of 97:3, 94:6, 91:9, 88:12 and 85:15, respectively. Intensities of each fragment from sesame oil by E-nose based on MS were completely different from those of perilla oil. The obtained data was used for discriminant function analysis. For quantitative analysis, the partial least square algorithm was used. The added concentration of perilla oil to sesame oil was correlated with discriminant function first score (DF1) and second score (DF2). From this relationship it could be found out how much perilla oil added. DFA plot indicated a significant separation of pure sesame oil and pure perilla oil. The different geographical origin of sesame oil was used for blending with perilla oil were closed to that of sesame oil. Korean sesame oil mixture and Indian sesame oil one were well separated. And the correlation between mixing ratios and DF1 values was found at the ratio of 97:3, 91:9, and 85:15 (SE vs PE oil), respectively. But the added concentration of perilla oil to sesame oil was correlated with discriminant function first score (DF1). E-nose based on MS system could be used as an efficient method for purity of oil quality.

In this paper, the authors calculate GDOP(Geometric Dilution of Precision) with the mast and slave transmitting stations at the past and present and simulation positions in the 9970 chain and 5970 chain of the loran C system, and analyzed variations of the GDOP and effective ranges in accordance with the shifting of transmitting stations. The results obtained are as follows; 1) The line 3.0 of equi-GDOP map that the Z slave station of 9970 chain is Guam island is falled on with line 2.0 of it's map that it is Yap island approximately, and units of GDOP of calculating with Guam island are increased then them with Yap island on the south parts of mast station. 2) If the control right of Z slave station of 9970 chain could be not transfered to japan and be closed on account of the territorial problems, the units of GDOP to calculate without it's station at any positions are very increased and the accuracy is down on the south parts of mast station. The line 5.0 of it's map is falled on with line 2.0 in case of Yap island, its Z station, and line 3.0 in case of Guam island with Z slave station approximately. 3) The X slave station of 9970 chain and 5970 chain are required rearrangement for the purpose of accurating position fix and expending service area in view of propagation route of wave and arrangement of transmitting station.

Almost five million citizens a day are using subways as a means of traffic communication in the Seoul metropolitan. As the subway system is typically a closed environment, indoor air pollution problems frequently occurs and passengers complain of mal-health impact. Especially $PM_{10}$ is well known as one of the major pollutants in subway indoor environments. The purpose of this study was to compare the indoor air quality in terms of $PM_{10}$ and to quantitatively compare its source contributions in a Seoul subway platform before and after installing platform screen doors (PSD). $PM_{10}$ samples were collected on the J station platform of Subway Line 7 in Seoul metropolitan area from Jun. 12, 2008 to Jan. 12, 2009. The samples collected on membrane filters using $PM_{10}$ mini-volume portable samplers were then analyzed for trace metals and soluble ions. A total of 18 chemical species (Ba, Mn, Cr, Cd, Si, Fe, Ni, Al, Cu, Pb, Ti, $Na^+$, $NH_4^+$, $K^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Cl^-$, and ${SO_4}^{2-}$) were analyzed by using an ICP-AES and an IC after performing proper pre-treatments of each sample filter. Based on the chemical information, positive matrix factorization (PMF) model was applied to identify the source of particulate matters. $PM_{10}$ for the station was characterized by three sources such as ferrous related source, soil and road dust related source, and fine secondary aerosol source. After installing PSD, the average $PM_{10}$ concentration was decreased by 20.5% during the study periods. Especially the contribution of the ferrous related source emitted during train service in a tunnel route was decreased from 59.1% to 43.8% since both platform and tunnel areas were completely blocked by screen doors. However, the contribution of the fine secondary aerosol source emitted from various outside combustion activities was increased from 14.8% to 29.9% presumably due to ill-managed ventilation system and confined platform space.
Through the low-temperature(60-150${\circ}C$) hydrothermal treatment of perlite with the alkaline solution at various NaOH concentrations, the mode of volcanic glass alteration and resultant zeolite formation were investigated in a closed system. At a temperature of 80${\circ}C$ and alkalinities of pH range 8 to 12, corresponding to the natural environments of diagenetic zeolite formation, only weak dissolution of perlitic glass occurs without zeolite formation despite the residence time of 100 days. Activities of Si and Al increase progressively, as a consequence of increasing pH, whereas activity ratios of Si/Al decrease. Zeolites were synthesized from perlite in the alkaline solution at above 0.1M NaOH concentrations. Below the temperature of 100${\circ}C$ Na-P was mainly formed, whereas analcime was the dominant zeolite at the temperature range of 100-150${\circ}C$. During Na-P synthesis chabazite and Na-X were also formed as by-products in case of lower proportion of solution/sample(<10ml/g) and higher NaOH concentraion (>3M), respectively. The alteration modes of perlite in the zeolite synthesis reflect that the formation of synthetic zeolites occurs as an incongruent dissolution likely with the diagenetic formation of natural zeolites from volcanic glass. Considering much difference in reaction kinetics between natural and synthetic systems, however, the evaluated synthetic conditions in these experiments were not directly applicable to the natural diagenetic system.
